    Kris Draper

For Homer, its probably hard to stay healthy with the role he plays on the team. He gets thrown around all the time. I dont expect him to do very well for the rest of his career however long that may be.

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract

If Hudler is getting the $5mil a season in the KHL like I just read, then its definitely more than hes worth. Hudler is not that good, 57-points or not. He was on one of the best offensive teams in the NHL last season, of course his points are going to go up. I dont see him scoring too many points in the KHL but I will make sure to watch it to see if he makes me eat my words or not. He seems very one-dimensional to me.

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract

Just let him go and move on. We already wasted too much time with it and the Free Agency is getting thinner by the day.

    88 goals, 118 assists, and 206 points

I definitely think this upcoming season is going to be a lot of work and hopefully they come out on top, having been richer from the work they put in. I would much rather have them try their hardest than just skate through the season and post season on laziness. Not to say they are lazy at all.

Holland confirms that Hudler will play in KHL

Well if he is going to go to the KHL for $3-$4 mil instead of staying in Detroit for $2.5 because thats all we can afford, good riddance. We shouldnt have to break our backs to make players fit here.

    Darren Haydar to Colorado

    Damn.

Ville Leino signs a 2 year extension

This should leave some more for Hudler, should we need to use it. I am pretty happy Leino didnt demand a raise. Since he demanded to be on the team in the NHL this season, he probably agreed to take less than what he was originally planned to get to do so.

2009-2010 Wings - More Defensive Style?

Our defense was less than stellar this season, to say the least but Osgood was less than stellar as well. We were just lucky enough to have the offensive talent to offset our defensive weaknesses. This upcoming season will not be pretty if our defense doesnt step it up.

    Predict The Wings Next Season

Datsyuk and Zetterberg over 30 goals. We place 2nd in the West and only 90-100 points.

    Kenny says Abdelkader is ready

To be fair, the last season he was in Finland (before he came here) he scored 28 goals and had 49 assists in 55 games. He could prove to be a 20 goal scorer in the NHL if he has the kind of push he had in Finland. I have high hopes for the guy because he was great back in Finland.

Wings will be a better team in 09/10

Lidstrom might be the centerpiece of our organization as our captain but he is by no means the only thing holding the franchise together. A future of Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Franzen looks pretty promising to me. Osgood is as good as he needs to be with the team we have in front of him. The great thing about the Wings is that we dont need an elite goaltender on our team. Look at New Jersey and Vancouver. They apparently have the greatest goalies ever (according to all the sports sites and news articles), but has that helped them the past few years? Not really.

    boo hossa?

I think Franzen already took a discount compared to what he would have gotten as a free agent, to say he would take even less might be pushing it a little bit. I still feel like it was one or the other and never both as far as retaining them went.

    In Regards To Hudler's Skills

More talent than Hossa and Franzen and a better playmaker than Zetterberg. Wow.

    Kenny says Abdelkader is ready

I think when you can look at Helm and Leino play and say that they would be regulars on any other team, you can pretty much assume they will play their roles. Leino pushed to be on the team for this season and now that he will be, I highly doubt he will do anything less than score 20+ goals. These players ARE ready to play at the NHL level and provide like we need them to.

    That is all.

    Chicago Screws Up, merged

I wouldnt mind signing Ben Eager if he becomes a UFA. I dont think getting Versteeg is a likely possibility.

    Nash re-signs with CBJ

Nash could be the greatest player ever (obviously hes not) but it isnt going to matter if the team cant afford any support players.

    boo hossa?

http://www.detnews.com/article/20090702/SP...olts+to+Chicago Read that and then tell me you want to boo the man. As a self-respecting human being, he could not take 3-4 million a season to play here. When we signed Franzen, we essentially chose Franzen over Hossa. He was here for a great season and both the Wings and Hossa will say that there is no animosity. It just wasnt meant to be. Booing him would just make us look like fools. He doesnt deserve that. EDIT: Im all for booing an entire team when they announce their names on the PA but only players like Pronger should be booed every time they touch the puck.

    Mikael Samuelsson signs with Vancouver

It will be interesting to see how he does there.

    Martin Havlat Twitter/ Sun-Times Article

I would laugh if Chicago couldnt offer one of them much money (Toews or Kane) and Lidstrom retires (god forbid) giving us enough money to throw at one of them. I have no idea what their situation would be or even if they are UFAs or RFAs but it just popped into my head. I would love to see Kane or Toews in a Wings uniform.
  21. skyphoenix

would you like to see this roster?

    No.
  22. skyphoenix

Are you content with Z and Franzen?

I would take Hossa over Franzen because he a proven 70-90 point player but thats not to say that Franzen cant be. He upped is numbers from last year which is great and I would say that Franzen has more long term upside if that trend continues.

Don't expect the Wings to make move today

That is a lot to expect from these players but the reality is, is thats what they have to do especially after losing a 40 goal player. Franzen has to make up for Hossa, because we essentially chose him over Hossa. Zetterberg didnt have a great regular season last year and he will be the first to admit it, so expecting him to bounce back is reasonable.
  24. I love how you people are assuming that Hossa even had a career in Detroit. He was here for one year, his best years were with Atlanta and then you go on to assume he will be terrible with Chicago.

Holland should go after Pahlsson and Neil

I definitely think we should go after Pahlsson if his asking price isnt too high.
