How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?
Octopus's Garden replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
My fiancee and all her friends -- most of whom have now become my friends and who we hang out with all the time -- are ALL Penguins fans. There's on Flyers fan in the bunch. There are zero Red Wings fans. I went into solitary confinement in 2008 and 2009. -
I'll never watch a second of the 2009 7th game again, if I can help it. This Game 6 is great, though the Penguins just got a cheap ass call late in the 3rd to make it 3-2 and Datsyuk will be getting terribly tripped shortly, almost leading to a 3-3 tie.
-
Osgood will be the full-time starter by Game 60.
-
If not for the boxes all the way around the end zones, it would look like Van Andel, the Griffins' home.
-
I kind of like it. And want a McRib
-
Love it. Let's get this season started already.
-
Kind of surprising. Seems like a good, young player could be had for fairly cheap. Link

Not exactly the biggest name, but it's been a bit of a slow go in terms of NHL transactions lately. Depending on what NYR gave up, I actually like this move ... White had a real good year two seasons ago and he might do well outside of Atlanta. Trade link
-
Hmm ... Rangers get: Todd White, Patrick Rissmiller Thrash get: Donald Brashear ... I'm an idiot. Rissmiller going the other way. Thanks, nowhere2005.

I don't miss CuJo.

Meech for Sharp and Toews to get Chicago out of cap hell. I assume that's where Holland's going with this.

As the article points out ....... I just don't see Maltby taking a two-way contract and I certainly don't see him sitting in GR during the season. If that's all the Wings have to offer, I'd have to imagine he'll see what else he can get (Tampa Bay???). I just don't see the logic behind trying to bring him back for more than deep, deep depth.

RUMOR: Wings Offer 1-year Contract to Maltby
Octopus's Garden replied to redwingfan19's topic in General
This is not the least bit surprising. I do not like it. -
Considering that he wasn't even the best Williams in Detroit last year ... and the other Williams was a disaster of the highest order ... I do not think this will be a very big signing for the Rangers.

4 years, $14 million. Another one bites the dust. Vince Vaughn's going to be the Hawks' No. 5 defenseman at this rate.
-
This doesn't sound overly promising. MLive Link

Someone named Jimmy Murphy just tweeted that the Wings have offered one-year and $8.5 million. How? He does not explain. Apparently, they're trading everyone. Stupid link
-
That oughta be good for a goal against the Leafs.
-
Someone's going to get Turco for the league minimum at this rate.
-
I 100% approve of this. Good deal for a guy that proved pretty valuable last year.
-
RIP Bob. Sad story.

Blackhawks doing their best to embrace change
Octopus's Garden replied to redwingmachine's topic in General
If the Hawks somehow finished fourth in the Central in the next two years, it would almost make the Cup worthwhile. -
If this doesn't prove how amazing the Red Wings' run of success has been, nothing will. It's nearly impossible to do what Detroit has done over the past 15 years.

I know Modano's not exactly the 1993 version of himself, but I don't think this is a fair comparison. He's a smart player, a great locker room presence, a very solid faceoff guy and could step in on either special-teams unit if need be. I don't necessarily think he should be the #1 option right now, but the Wings could certainly do worse than Modano, especially given his hometown roots and his desire to win a Cup. Oh, and he was in Mighty Ducks. Jason Williams was not in Mighty Ducks.
