Also ... hopefully the Chicago "fans" realize the season starts before, say, February.

I like this idea, I really do. Although, allow me to play devil's advocate for a second ... $2 million for a guy that's played one kind-of-full season in the NHL, in a move that would kick a relatively established guy like Lilja to the curb, could be a gutsy one. At least, it feels gutsy for Kenny Holland, if nothing else.

Better them than the Penguins. Real smart move by Philly if the Flyers can get this done by July 1. I'm a big Hamhuis fan.

Holland thinking of re-signing Kirk Maltby
Octopus's Garden replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
I don't even understand the thinking behind this, other than "Hey, he's been here forever." He's slow, he doesn't fight, he doesn't score, he can't kill penalties, he doesn't play on the PP. I'd take Miller and Eaves over him, WITHOUT A DOUBT. -
Good. I was just thinking the division was too easy.

In case you were curious how obsessed the Bandwagonhawks fans are with the Red Wings, the answer is ... VERY.

Wings win the Cup over the Capitals, who are guaranteed a loser's spot in the Finals after losing in the Winter Classic to Pittsburgh. Chris Osgood is the Wings' No. 1 goalie come the postseason. ...... Crap, I think this limb is about to snap.

I wear them on the occasional game day ... usually weekend games, specifically. I never wear mine "out of season" and I stopped wearing it during the playoffs this year because they kept losing when I wore it. And then they kept losing anyway.

Obviously not a total surprise, but I kind of thought he'd be back for 2010-11. Linky link

Lang and Doan should have a crazy face-off

Considering recent trends, Meech will walk, sign with someone like Dallas, and become the next Kyle Quincey.
-
Well ... that's the thing. If you get to game 7, then who the hell knows? I mean, Maxime Talbot? A random Brad Stuart turnover? Big Rig off the crossbar? Lidstrom robbed at the horn? I mean, game 7s are a total crap shoot, one bounce here or there ... Hopefully, simply for the sake of hockey and its fans, this goes the distance.

Assist: Conn Smythe Leino

Doubt it happens, but if Philly somehow rallies to win, this series ends Wednesday. No question about it.
-
Early prediction for Hawks' defenseman to commit terrible turnover leading to a goal in game 7: Brian Campbell. Early prediction for so-so Flyers' forward who scores 2 goals in game 7: Arron Asham.

Read it aloud in the Borat voice, it will sound better.

That wins the internet.

Never posted a draft link before, so apologies in advance if this is in the wrong spot ... FanHouse has Detroit taking Riley Sheahan, Notre Dame center in the first round of the draft ... saw him a lot during CCHA action. Sounds like he's really strong defensively but a bit offensively challenged at the moment. Anyone else have any insights? FanHouse Mock

Clip at the 2:11 mark of this highlight package. Tell me that doesn't look like a certain Pavel breakaway goal ...
-
So ... Leighton's fault? If the Wings had lost like that, with that 2nd goal being the game winner, Howard would've gotten skewered, right?
-
Hawks win the Cup.

Burn in hell, Hossa

I'm sorry, but do I not remember Kopecky at all? He's running around, throwing checks, stirring up trouble, driving the net. Thanks for saving all that for Chicago, d-bag.

Should've been more specific, I suppose ... I meant the game 7 breakaway against Phoenix. And yes, I'm aware that's not the first time the move has been done in NHL history. Just thought it was cool to see a near-exact replica of it.
