To be fair, that reads more like a speculation/opinion piece than a report of news. I think that's the same site that had up the 10 best Lidstrom goals post that I linked on here a few weeks ago. Anyway, I'm kind of torn on this. I love Drury and think that, especially if Drapes retires or they don't bring him back, his presence in the locker room and as a third or fourth-line scorer would be great. On the other hand, as I usually do now, I'm thinking of him along the lines of: "Would he help the Wings beat the Sharks?" I can't give an affirmative to that question, so I can't get behind this 100%. For a cheap contract, I guess my verdict is go for it.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

Some cap space? That frees up a ton of cap space. Could be a real good thing ... except them to definitely bring Big Rig back then. -
WCSF Game 7 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Sharks 3

I honestly have no issues with Draper playing. I do not understand why Hudler was put back in the lineup for Game 6, then kept there for Game 7 after not doing anything in Game 6. He was the worst player out there tonight, constantly making the wrong play on offense. The PP was awful -- some credit to San Jose for that, but for whatever reason, the PP was the one situation all game that Detroit wasn't just firing away. They were trying to get a perfect shot instead of just mucking it up in front of Rebounds McGee in net. As for 4, I have no idea. Dats and Z had been out there for a minute, but ... it's the last 20 seconds of the godda*n season. -

The Wings don't throw 8 million at anyone. -

Just at a loss for words yet again. These may be the two most evenly-matched teams I've ever seen ... which is why mistakes like Zetterberg's giveaway and not taking advantage on the power play makes the difference. So frustrating. Two OT losses, two one-goal losses that could've easily gone to OT. Difficult way to go into the summer. -

I think I would be less upset right if the power play had even come close to scoring one time. They played a fine game 5 on 5, but got outscored 1-0 on the power play. Terrible time for the special teams to go down the toilet. -

Yes. Yes, they are. Aside from the fourth line, they all suck so far. -

Well ... we're 3-for-3. Let's hope there's enough magic left here to bring it home. JINX!

See ya Wednesday night.

I am 100% with you on that one ... it's like one of those football games where your team's down 24-0 or something, then comes back and has a FG to win it. If you make it, it's the greatest thing ever. If you miss it, it's not "Oh well, good comeback." It hurts your heart.

Those Who Were at the Game --- Have You Ever Heard a Crowd So Loud?
Octopus's Garden replied to a topic in General
All I know is that little turd Pierre McGuire had to scream to be heard over the Wings' fans singing Journey at the end. The atmosphere was incredible ... I have a friend who's a Blackhawks fan (Not a very good friend obviously). He went to Game 4 and couldn't believe how loud and engaged the crowd was from the opening faceoff. Game 6 seemed substantially louder. -
This is the greatest thread title ever. I concur eleventy billion percent.

You know what was most surprising about that period? That Thornton didn't go down like his head had been cut off when Datsyuk hit him. -

Only guess is that they want Hudler on the PP because Franzen is out. -

Is Draper hurt? That Draper-Helm-Eaves line has been better than any other shy of Dats-Z combos this round. -

I know we're all hoping Friday's not Nick's last NHL game ... but if it is, he's had an incredible career. Fun to look back: Lidstrom's 10 Best Playoff Goals No. 1 on the list is the bomb that broke Dan Cloutier. Definitely one of my favorites. Edit: I think this is fine in this part of the message board, but if not, feel free to move it mods. Thought it was a cool find on a random blog.

That Game 4 goal is certainly up there. So will be his Game 7 series-clincher.
-
Well ... that's the whole idea. I also don't think I can stop doing it after it worked for Game 4 and Game 5.

I like that we didn't actually get to 400 posts for a Sharks victory in Game 4. But because it worked -- and by popular request -- here we go again. JINX!
