Bottom line is that this is a Red Wings forum, and nobody here gives two s***s about Crosby and his 49 goals this season. Majority of the people who bother to post on this forum love the sport for how great it is, and for no other reason. The thing about Sidney Crosby is that he's been built up to be the epic hockey master of all time, some even going as far as to compare him to Gretzky and so on even before he'd blossomed into the player he is today. He has been forced down the throats of hockey fans, and we're being forced to hear his name in nearly every broadcast, even if we aren't playing Pittsburgh. There's a reason why nearly everyone on this board would like to see Stamkos surpass both Ovechkin and Crosby and that's because Steve Stamkos is not being FORCED down our throats. We don't have to hear everyday how awesome and perfect he is - we're able to form our own opinions of him based on his game, rather than have someone elses opinions hammered into our ears day in and day out. There is no denying the fact that Crosby is great and he is an elite player, but I can't help but hate him because of the s***storm created in his name each day by every network/radio station. Some of you piss and moan about how most of us hate the guy, but even Crosby himself must be on the verge of puking every time he logs onto NHL.com or watches a game on Versus. Take your Crosby love to another forum or just accept the fact that most people here aren't going to want to hear about him. We hear enough about him every time we turn on our TVs, and if anything LetsGoWings should be a sanctuary for us wishing nothing more than to enjoy the sport / team we love without the irritation of, "Crosby scores most," "Crosby Better Goalie than Brodeur," or "Sid the Kid : Olympic God." It feels like this whole thing is like a bad joke and those of you who support him just don't get it. Go Stamkos.

Anyone else notice how about half of the top ten saves were on our Red Wings? Weak...

What's the big deal? I'm happy for him... I always liked Leino he just didn't work out here in Detroit. He's in the east, we got a pick and player for him, and if he tears it up over there good for him.

Total bulls***. The Richards hit on Booth, the Gonchar on Clutterbuck and the Cooke on Savard were all blindside hits that could have killed someone or at least ended their careers. Not one of them goes punished yet when Wiz hits Seabrook, who was facing him and saw it coming, he gets 8 games? This s*** is ridiculous... I'm no ducks fan but lets be real here - this was the least dirty of all four hits I've mentioned and as far as I'm concerned Seabrook had it coming after throwing that questionable hit on Perry, and that means a lot coming from me because I hate Corey Perry.

These calls are ridiculous. Weak calls shouldn't be made when it leads to a 5 on 3... let them play the game for f***s sake.

Draper is a leader with a great attitude who keeps morale high and CAN STILL PLAY HOCKEY. Maltby is an agitator who, like draper, is great on the PK and CAN STILL PLAY HOCKEY. They are both on the brink of retirement, so get over yourselves and let them finish their careers here. It's the least you can do considering all they've given you over the years. I'm proud to have them on our team and I cannot believe anybody who is a true Wings fan would ever dream of trading them NOW.

There's absolutely no reason to believe that Jack Johnson wouldn't flourish here in Detroit. He's obviously got loads of potential and it might only take a change in his surroundings to turn things around for him. Add to that new coaching, the influence of Lidstrom, Rafalski, Stuart, Kronner, and I believe we have a recipe for success. I see this as an opportunity to get a young, talented player and I can't believe some of you are bitching about it. Meech is good but not good enough, and if I never see another 'Lebda = pylon' or 'Lebda = turnover' thread it will be too soon. We all know that our D is our strong point, and with Lilja still out and Lidstrom possibly retiring this is something we need to look into, not to mention that he wears the number 3... perhaps this is a sign that he could replace Lilja if he never gets healthy enough to play? Lidstrom - Rafalski Stuart - Kronwall Ericsson - Johnson Seriously nasty Defensive lineup. You really could shuffle them around any way you'd like and it would still look good. If anyone gets injured we've got Kindl and Janik... I'd be comfortable with that.

Wow no wonder the hawks are on top they spend 60 min per game on the power play. Questionable calls...

Funny how in one week the threads evolve from "BERTUZZI SUCKZ!!!!!!!!!!!" to "Bertuzzi = Good" Told you all you'd be eating your words. Have a little faith in the man he's got the potential to be great, and he hasn't been bad this year. Playing like s***? You must not be watching the same games I've been watching... Hardly physical? No s*** sherlock... last thing we need is someone his age with a history of back injuries to start throwing his weight around like a maniac, or god forbid he stick up for our team and pwn someone's face (see next paragraph.) He's no more guilty of bad passes and/or turnovers than the next guy, and since his SO winner he's been awesome. Bertuzzi = great signing this time and I hope to see him wearing a winged wheel for at least one more season. As for the Moore incident, if anyone is still crying about that they need to grow a set and get over it. If McCarty had done that to Lemieux after the Draper incident nobody here wouldve shed a tear. Shea Weber may have ruined Lilja's career, yet nobody even remembers it - even after we play against him yesterday and he tried to injure every player on our team (boarding, sucker punching, dry humping, and practically Moore'd Draper). If you think it makes a difference because Lilja and Weber agreed to fight, it doesn't. s*** happens out there, and if Moore hadn't been A) turning his back on a fight, B) made of glass and C) On a dumbass team which decided to collectively dive on top of his face after he was punched, maybe he'd be a happy 4th liner somewhere in the AHL. If you want to get on someone's nuts look to Leino, because he's had just as much time as a top 6 F and has like 6 points all year, looks even slower than Bertuzzi, and makes even more questionable passes. Talk about a disappointment... I had such high hopes for Leino but with Filppula gone he looks lost out there.

Bertuzzi is fine, you're all just passing the blame onto him because Samuelsson left for Vancouver and Williams is injured. The only possible complaint anyone could have is that he's relatively slow, but that's to be expected when we watch helm, eaves, and draper rip it up every night. That whole issue leads into another - turnovers. His lack of speed leads to turnovers but honestly, he's not the only one out there turning it over. Leino is possibly slower, and as much as I love Leino he is far worse than Bertuzzi, and Babcock knows this too. If you want to ***** about physical play you need to take that elsewhere. Bertuzzi wasn't brought on board to deliver crushing blows and enforce Bertuzzi Law, he was brought in to replace some goals we'd lost in the off-season. He's got health issues and the last thing he needs to be doing is crashing around like a dumbass and injuring himself - especially now with all the recent injuries. If you want physical play that's what Helm, Eaves, May, Cleary, Kronwall, and Stuart are here for. He's here to score, and he's currently 6th on our team which is completely acceptable. Once Bertuzzi is settled and gets some confidence all of you Bertuzzi haters will be bongin' his *******. Look at what happened recently - Bert got some confidence with a shootout winner and the following game he scored a goal and added an assist. We'll see about 15-20 goals from him this season which is about what Samuelsson produced last year so for the last time, get off the poor guy's nuts.

No care ever to read all the replies. I can't stand Crosby as much as the next true fan of the sport, yet I couldn't stomach that article... stopped reading it almost immediately. Is Crosby the most overrated player in the NHL? I'd say yes. Is Crosby hurting the Penguins? No. The End.

No way in hell. If we retired the number of every good player who has ever played for the wings we'd run out of numbers.

The solution is quite simple to me. When a player screws up, they are fined and/or suspended. Avery says something stupid (total joke btw, cannot believe they made something of it), Pronger does something stupid, like a dirty hit... they are fined and suspended. Players are held accountable for their actions, and perhaps if these refs were held accountable for their actions they'd put a little more effort into their jobs and call the game like it needs to be called. I highly doubt that ref would have had the balls to call 'no goal' if a huge fine/suspension had been riding on the line. These intent to blow the whistle calls are top on my list but I'm also nauseated by the hooking calls from center ice and the slashing calls like the one on May tonight. If the ref involved in the play did not find it necessary to call hooking why would some retard from the other end of the ice find it necessary? Vanflip these refs so I can enjoy some Hockey.

Alright I'm with everyone when it comes to canning Lebda since he's been about useless this season, however I find myself getting just as angry with Rafalski... Seriously I can't be the only one noticing that Rafalski has been just about as bad as Lebda, and he's supposed to be one of our best d men. They both seem like really great people and I hate to rip on them, but I'm way too fed up with this s***. We're in serious trouble if we're planning on playing a defensive game to solve this plague of injuries. Big E looks lost/confused out there most nights, Lebda and Rafalski are turnover masters, Meech hasn't looked too great this season... I say we bench Lebda and give someone from GR a shot.

I always had high hopes for Grigorenko, but his English was terrible and he was frustrated by that and a few other things, which is why he opted to leave the NHL. I wish he would come back though because he could be like another Ville Leino, only with more balls. Has anyone considered Krys Kolanos? He's a UFA, shoots right, stands up for himself, has a set of hands and would be VERY cheap. If anyone would be the next Dan Cleary it'd be this guy...
