I voted 35-40. I feel like he has the opportunity to score 45+, but I need to see him completely healthy for an extended period of time. He's already missed 2 of 6 games, if you extend that out over 82 games that's 28 +/-2 games he'd miss. Granted, it's a very small sample size to work with, but after the injury last year and the unfortunate/illegal hit this year, I feel like it's a legitimate concern. Beat me by 2 minutes with 1/4 the words and 900% more clarity.

How about moving Columbus to Yellowknife or Juneau? I'm in Athens (OH) and I see more LA Kings jerseys than CBJ. Strangely enough, the Kings' fans are very hockey-wise around here and I have no idea where they all came from.

I did a rundown before free agency last year of which teams had the most nationalities represented by birth country. http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php/topic/65510-most-diverse-team/page__p__1993553__fromsearch__1#entry1993553

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=336810 I don't know how back-ended it is, but Chara will be 41 at the end of it. Any chance the NHL looks at this one?

That was awesome seeing the Joe rock like that. I haven't been posting much lately because I've been following my Reds into their first postseason in 15 years... After tonight, my Wings are back atop the totem pole. What a performance. Jimmy looked great. Pasha looked great. Clearly looked great. Everyone looked great. Right after the most disheartening sports experience in my life, it was really nice to hear "Hey Jude" in the waning seconds of my good old reliable Wings game. Just beautiful.

Jonas Hiller's New Goalie Mask
InKennyWeTrust replied to Behind Enemy Lines in CO's topic in General
I like the idea but I'm not a fan of the carbon feel. It makes me think that he doesn't make enough money playing hockey and has to take a second job as a coal miner. Unfortunately he doesn't have enough time between jobs to take his mask off. -
...yes?

Green as a favorite for this Norris?!

Where to buy "Fight night at the Joe" print?

We just did a segment in Economics today about violence in hockey and a montage was played. There were several of us cheering when Lemieux went down. The prof was not thrilled. -
I absolutely love the fact that whenever a goalie does something stupid and is reported on LGW, somewhere before the 7th response will be a youtube video of "Lidstrom Scores From Center Ice!"
-
I'm calling shenanigans. Not on the rumor being true, but the s***tiness of how it works. Agree with CenterIce.

Crosby gets knocked out by Roethlisberger at a photo shoot in Pittsburgh staring all of the city's sports stars. Says Roethlisberger: "I didn't know who the guy was- why would some Canadian be in Pittsburgh? Anyone have some blow?" Bettman holds a news conference in which he announces the Roethlisberger suspension. Shortly thereafter, in a coup d'etat, Shanahan takes over the commissioner's position. Hudler invents a new dirty move- the reverse clothesline. First performed on Pronger, it involves skating directly at a player and, due to one's shortness, taking out his legs. Lilja signs for league minimum with the Canadians because "I really want to beat the s*** out of Lebda every chance I get." Mike Babcock causes Osgood to spontaneously combust by glaring at him after Chris lets in a bad goal.

Crosby doesn't suck but he's a whiney little bitch, however.

Oh, we do enjoy those games more often, but they are not nearly as absurd as the Crosby trolling. I always see those as legitimate points of hockey perspective whereas the Unmentionable Penguin turns some people into froth-at-the-mouth lunatics. -

LGW'S favorite game! ADEFGHIJKLMNPQTUVWXZ -
I love the cap hit. A player like him at under 1M per.

I think a better question would be "would Detroit be better off of we had Fedorov post lock-out?" I'm not so sure that we would be. Datsyuk or Zetterberg may not have developed the way they did and if they had, we may not have been able to afford them both. Edited to add the second quotation mark.

I don't think there are many cup contenders who have that kind of cap space. Washington maybe, but Campbell would eat up the rest of their cap space and they don't need another defensman whose terrible in their own zone. How much sense would a Campbell for Green trade make? LA has 17M in wiggle room, but they've only got 16 players signed. I doubt they want to use up nearly half of that space on one terrible player. From there, you move on to middle of the pack teams, and that's a crap shoot to figure out who will be the next year's surprise team. Colorado, Phoenix, St. Louis, Nashville (even though in-division trading is shunned, I imagine Chicago just wants to get rid of the guy), Buffalo, and Anaheim would be the only teams with a foreseeable shot of making the playoffs and having enough cap room to take on his contract. If you're deciding where to live, the only place that looks more pleasing than Chicago on that list is Anaheim, but could you imagine Campbell's defense in front of Toskola? Sorry that was long winded lol. Basically, why move if you don't have to? Even if your team sucks next year, you're the defending Stanley Cup champs. If you stick it out there for a while and improve your game to the point where a better team with some space would be willing to take a flier, I doubt there would be a better place for him than Chicago right now.

If I'm Cambell, I'm finding 8 teams who are up against the cap already.
-
I thought they were over the cap already...?

I pinched myself and I didn't wake up. Is this the real life or is this just fantasy?
-
I don't think anyone would say it's something we "need," and I bet there would be many people arguing that we should get younger. But with the limited cap space we have, we can't just conjure NHL quality youngsters out of thin air. If management believes Modano makes the team better on a one year bargain without blocking the progress of an AHL'er, why not pull the trigger?

Blackhawks doing their best to embrace change

Looking at capgeek.com, Brian Campbell's salary makes me laugh so much. What is the rule if you buy out a contract in terms of cap space? Is it 1/2 of the salary imposed over 2x the length of the contract? -
I believe there's a general consensus here. /thread

Me too. : )
