Do we resign him after this year, then? I vote yes, at a similar to reduced salary.

Best use of youtube clip ever. You win one of the 387,224 "Internet Awards of 2010."

The first thing anyone should do for their first post back is thank Matt! If there's anything any of us can do in the future to ensure the smooth running of the boards, I'm sure we'd be willing to contribute (except potentially money if anyone's a poor college student like me...)

Anyone else want to complain about someone?

When Babcock was picking out who to promote to Cleary's spot, I think he forgot an eenie or a meenie.
-
We didn't really grab that period by the balls, but it coulda been worse.

J Willy-Z-Bert, Clears-Flip-Miller. And Kronwall fall down go boom.
-
J Willy!

I don't think Cleary's playing poorly, but every time that I notice him, he's running into either Z or Bert...
-
Grrrreat start....

Is that D-Mac I'm seeing on Versus again tonight?
-
Who is this Luongo character? Never heard of him... His stats make him look like a s***tier version of that Jimmy Howard guy, and from what I've heard, he's pretty damn good.

Ok, so, rundown. The good: 1st line was made of win. Franzen behind the net and around the boards, Homer in the center, and Datsyuk being Datsyuk. The only real problem here is that sometimes Datsyuk doesn't have someone to pass to without much speed on the wings, but as long as he can set people up the way he does, there's no real way for another team to take advantage of it. Not only were most of the star players good (Datsyuk/Lidstrom/Franzen and too a lesser extent Raffi), but the role players played their game during the first and third. Eaves, Homer, Cleary, and Helm all played well when not getting Ref-f***ed and showed an ability to take the momentum back after a let-down, which has been sorely missed. Also, the 5/6 of the defensive corps was amazing. Stuart/Konner may have played better together tonight than any other time this season. Lilja only let Ericsson give up one goal, and while he looked a step behind at times, was able to make up for it by making good decisions. Possibly the only bad decision was trusting Draper too much to not give up a scoring chance. We had heart I think! I'm not sure, I haven't seen it in forever, but I think I saw something. Howard made huge saves when needed. The bad: Line #2. Watching Cleary and Z skate into each other while Bert skated away in the middle of nowhere was depressing. Even when they had pressure, they generated no quality scoring chances. Clearly Flippula deserves a promotion to a place where he won't be relied on to score. Ericsson pinches and runs away from the puck, punches the elderly, and spits in the face of the homeless. In addition to being a terrible human being, he's a godawful hockey player. If you want to salvage him, consider trying him out as a forward because the guy has no defensive ability whatsoever. Howard let in a s***ty second goal. I don't think anyone will ever complain if he only lets in 2 goals a game, though.

Winner!

Anderson out.

Beat me to it.

Cleary and Z just aren't working well together. Bertuzzi is in all the wrong places on that line. Maybe let Flip center and Hank wing, see if you can get Z to try to concentrate on scoring without worry about dishing all the time.
-
Would Happy Huds be on Z's wing if he had stayed?
-
Offsetting slashes? Just drop 'em or at least get a roughing.

What the f*** now?!

The Norse got it wrong. It wasn't Thor with a hammer they saw, it was Lidstrom with a hockey stick. And for that, Datsyuk, the Soviet National Anthem is now my ringtone.
-
Kronwall is a lot like Ericsson except he can play defense. And he can score. Also, he plays physically and doesn't eat babies.
-
Can we just pay a guy to be within 25 feet of Datyuk so he has an out? Honestly, he's holding the puck in front of 3 Avs for 10 seconds without anyone getting open.
-
Jesus! Either they're being paid to blow this game or Bettman invented a remote controlled puck.
-
Once again, Datsyuk with no helmet = sexy
