We're just not reading the play at all...
-
Huge man-crush on Helm for that hustle I see every night.
-
Is it just me, or does the Sharks announcer on the right look like a bald John C. Reilly?
-
Everything I've seen has said 10... but maybe the massive snow storms in Southern California are delaying things a bit?
-
It's Jimmah Time! 4-1 Z^2, Bert, and Jimmy Howard with his first career goal on a breakaway after all 5 Sharks get distracted checking Lebda. The play becomes a watermark moment in Red Wings hockey.
-
Wow! Here's to him playing well (and something to watch on an off day) :beerbuddy:
-
...Lebda did this?! What else can he do to be a detriment to the team, urinate in the water cooler?

I posted this on another thread... I think these guys returning from injury are going to be a bigger boost than most people think. Forwards (games missed) - (Prorated points missed during injury) (Prorated +/-): Zetterberg 7 games - ~7 pts (3 g) +2 Franzen 38 games - ~32 pts (18 g) +12 Cleary 11 games - ~6 pts (2 g) 0 Williams 26 games - ~15 pts (7 g) -1 Flippula 28 games - ~14 pts (5 g) +1 Total: 110 man-games missed, estimated 80 points (with 35 goals) lost and a +14. The guys they were replaced with (I included Miller, Abdelkader, Newbury, Ritola, and Leino, totaling 108 man-games): 12 goals, 21 points, and a cumulative -8. Defensemen Kronwall 22 games - ~14 pts (2 g) +2 Ericsson 12 games - ~4 pts (1 g) -2 Total: 34 man-games missed, estimated 18 points (with 3 goals) lost, and a neutral +/-. The stats for the guys they were replaced with (I included Kindl, Janik, and Meech, totaling 35 man-games): 1 goal, 3 points, and a cumulative -7. In summary, just by being healthy, we would have probably netted around 25 more goals, 66 more points, and the cumulative +/- would be about 29 points higher. Those 25 goals would change our GS/GA split to +29, and that's before correcting for the increased defense, reducing our GA. Our team +/- would go from +2 to +31, which puts us only 2 below Chicago. I used numbers based on last year, which doesn't compensate for players stepping up their game (Flippula, Ericsson) or having better teammates (Williams). I'd say it's a safe bet that in the alternate universe where this team is healthy, they're competing in, if not actually winning, the President's Cup race.

Never ever will I complain about the sheer awesomeness of the wallpaper, but the 1024x768, 1280x960, 1280x1024, and 1600x1200 have the Islanders games listed as the 19th and not the 12th- it's on the right day in the calendar, but the number is wrong. But you rock, Matt!

Sound like any other Red Wing great of, say, the past 15 years? Not to say they're equal, just that these videos made me miss Stevie

Jeremy Roenick says "a big fall is ahead for the Red Wings"
InKennyWeTrust replied to Vladifan's topic in General
I think people read much to deeply into the Delvano quote. What do you expect him to say, "We're the best there ever was?" The reality of it was that we'd finish in the top 2 in the Central and probably be seeded somewhere between 2-5, not anticipating half of opening night's roster to be on IR. And yes, this team is seriously challenged, I doubt anyone would question that. But what's challenging them is not their lack of skill up and down the roster, it's their lack of skill game to game. We've had 7 guys out there on a nightly basis who shouldn't even be sniffing the NHL this year, and that has nothing to do with the team that we came into the season with. If anything, the homers around here are the one who predicted the fall because we lost Sammy, Huds, and Hossa, and didn't think that Williams and Bertuzzi were significant players. -

Eventually the world is going to come to an end, but I don't listen to someone when they tell me it'll be tomorrow. It's all about the playoffs, and this team is going to have sick depth. Forwards (games missed) - (Prorated points missed during injury) (Prorated +/-): Zetterberg 7 games - ~7 pts (3 g) +2 Franzen 38 games - ~32 pts (18 g) +12 Cleary 11 games - ~6 pts (2 g) 0 Williams 26 games - ~15 pts (7 g) -1 Flippula 28 games - ~14 pts (5 g) +1 Total: 110 man-games missed, estimated 80 points (with 35 goals) lost and a +14. I'd say it's a safe bet that in the alternate universe where this team is healthy, they're competing in, if not actually winning, the President's Cup race. Is Lidstrom going to be hard to replace eventually? Undoubtedly. That doesn't mean that it will be impossible, though. It's really going to suck having a 38 year old Rafalski sucking 6 million in cap space in 2012, but when that comes off the books there will be ample money to sign an elite defenseman or a new supporting cast to a solid Kindl-Ericsson-Kronwall-Stuart core. And how many years are we removed from finding a 7th round superstar in the draft? I'm not saying that it's a yearly occurrence, but when lightening strikes the same place 3 or 4 or 5 times in a row, you start thinking it has less to do with luck and more with good scouting. So... Roenick can shove it. -
It's Jimmah time! Bert, Datz, and Jimmy Howard gets his first career goal beating Bryzgalov 5-hole with a slapper. Doan scores when Lebda distracts Jimmy by spending his time on the ice auditioning for the US luge team. In the post game, Babcock relegates Lebda to his new chief of "finding me a new fedora."

According to some, we've been in a death spiral since 2003. How many times have we been told "the Wings are too old," "too slow," "too European," "too soft." Every year it's been something new, every year we contend for the Cup. Bring it, ya old wind bag! -
Datsyuk feeding Ovie and Kovalchuk? Any permutation of the Canadian roster's top 3- my favorite's got to be Crosby with Iginla and Heatley. I'd rather have Canada's 2nd line over our first line...
-
Somehow, I've never seen so much resemblance between Max Payne and Christopher Walken. I was also playing a drinking game during the Florida slaughter last night, so maybe that's it...
-
Is it bad that I immediately thought of Hatcher-Tootoo? ...And kinda want it to be reversed if the Chara-Lebda thing ever went down?
-
Nice game, Jimmy.
-
This is meme material now.
-
At the start of this season, I would have bet everything I own on the Wings outshooting Tampa through 2. I would be a poor poor man. Much like I am, anyway...
-
Draft picks and leave someone on the IR until the playoffs start? I don't know how legal that is, but it's just a thought.
-
Aside from that luck on the missed wrap around, you've gotta give some love to Jimmy tonight. Something to keep my mind of Z, I guess...
-
I keep reading this in each injury thread, and it makes me nervous every time. I'm really hoping that we won't be saying 'at least it wasn't Miller' anytime soon...

Bert, give me Arbys.
