This is simply terrible. There are no words to describe what is happening.

So as of 30 minutes ago, Russian news was reporting Salei wasn't on board. Please god let that be accurate. No one deserves to die this way but please let these be the only ones. My sincerest condolences to all those affected.

That is freaking awesome. MOAR!

Shanahan reveals some details on process he will take for discipline

At least Datsyuk will get away with his fight this year again. -
My goodness...

Oh my. That would make going down 2 men very bad. No way that this gets adopted.
-
Thank you good sir! You were at the heart of many good memories that will not soon be forgot.

It just depends on who shows up to play. Anyone can get a lucky bounce here or there and it's not impossible for them to get lucky several times in a row.

Has anyone noticed what they are doing in Sunrise, FL?

It wouldn't be hard to get a circa 2000 Nashville Predators vibe from them- say a goaltender steps up and they squeak into the playoffs. That's something to build on and if there is any spark of success from them, there is always the potential to attract a fan base, as unlikely as that may be. If they play competent and above average hockey for a year or two, they would be a team with a lot of cap space that believes in itself. I was secretly hoping that St. Louis would be doing this, not that I have any affection for their franchise whatsoever. With their ownership issues, though, I doubt it will happen. Miami, on the other hand, can drag people to a sport where you get to sit next to ice for 2 and a half hours if you can convince them it is worthwhile. -
I'm not as down on Hudler as several people here, but of course it's Drapes. It's very possible that Hudler doesn't mesh well within the locker room, not to mention his sometimes questionable play on the ice. Draper has been an important part of many Red Wings teams and has a lot to teach players like Mursak and maybe Emmerton about conducting themselves in high pressure situations. Draper is also still competent defensively on a fourth line.

Wings re-sign Eaves to 3-year, $3.6m contract

It's nice to get him locked in. I wonder if Miller will be less apt to sign now, considering he may not have a guaranteed spot? -
First time I've really wondered about my user name.
-
Whoever would have thought that signing marginal players to 7M+ contracts was a bad idea?
-
How about an opt-out clause, similar to MLB?

The more I think about it, the more that it seems like the new assistants are going to be asked to do too many things. I really hope the change isn't too drastic. I'm not against getting someone with a different personality provided they don't ask that person to change for the job.

Datsyuk Barry Sanders Albert Pujols (if they're pitching to him) Edited to add Anthony Kim. I love the way he plays.
-
I don't know how he'd do that. He's already pretty damn intense so you'd have to get someone who is more technically proficient I suppose. Just wheel the hot dog stand down 75 and have Hitch and Murph chase after it. Whoever gets to it first gets the job.

NHL local ratings for game 1-Nashiville tied for 7th

There's Columbus at #6 wondering what they just saw... Hockey SHOULD work there, even with the damned college sports atmosphere. I guess 10 years and 0 playoff wins will do that, though. -
I don't know if I should or not, but the last sentence in the report made me laugh.
-
You most certainly do not.
-
HOORAY! Seriously... HOORAY! Edited: So... HOORAY!
-
Every once in a while during the playoffs he actually threw his weight around and looked decent on the defensive end but I just don't know if he'll ever develop the instincts to make a good first pass. I can't see signing him long term at this point simply because it is a very high risk situation.

Paul MacLean interviews for Senators Job
InKennyWeTrust replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I've got to believe the Sens can find someone more qualified ...but if they can't, then who? I know Cheli's and Hitch's names have been thrown around for defense, but what about Larry Murphy? I wonder if there is any kind of out clause in his FSN contract for something like this? On offense... uh... probably no way Shanahan would want it. Think someone like Pat Verbeek would be any good? I know he scouted for us for a while. Ciccarelli would probably know how to beat a system into players' heads (harharhar). None of those names really sit right with me... -
Oh, many many things- protest, sign petitions, refuse to go to away games... it's a lot like democracy. VOTE! and it won't matter anyway.
