2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
Who knows. Supposedly the Oilers are interested in Mark Fayne of the Devils, too. Wonder if they plan on keeping Mark Fraser. If not, he would be a solid bottom pairing guy. Personally, Deryk Engelland would be my primary target, as far as bottom pairing guys go. -

I'll take one Deryk Engelland, please. -
Callahan re-signs with Lightning for 6 years 34.8m

I like Callahan, but nearly $6 million a year for a guy that hasn't reached 55 points in his career is overpayment. Within the next few years, Stevie may be regretting this deal. -

I know Edmonton is desperate for defensemen, but this is quite the overpayment. -

I completely forgot about his family situation in California. Thanks for reminding me.Well that sucks. I miss Stuart, and Matt Greene re-signed with Los Angeles for four years. -

Speaking of Stuart, I wonder if he could be had for cheap, considering the Sharks are rebuilding. -

Gary Roberts Pavel Bure Tie Domi Rob Ray Darcy Tucker (Seems like he'd be a real riot to hang out with) Ken Daneyko Ray Ferraro because he's ridiculously knowledgeable about the game If we're including guys that had a cup of coffee with the team: Brad May Aaron Downey Wendel Clark -

I don't know why the hell WWE would get rid of him. Worst decision they've ever made. -

Good move for both Columbus and Philadelphia. While we're on the subject of blockbuster moves, the Devils have re-signed Cam Janssen to a one-year, two-way deal. The love affair between Lou and Janssen continues. -

Columbus is gonna be a real physical team next year. Their top 6 forwards include Dubinsky, Foligno, Hartnell, and Horton. I like the makeup of the team. -

Anyone else think Trotz may request that Tootoo be brought to Washington? -

He ran away from John Scott at the end of the regular season. He rarely fights heavyweights. -

Dale Weise has re-signed with Montreal for two years. Too bad he'll only see one of those years, since Milan Lucic is going to ******* kill him next year. -
Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to SteelTownWingsFan's topic in General
I heard Derek Dorsett could be moved from the Rangers. He's what we need on our fourth line. Can play a regular shift, hits everything, and chips in a point here and there. -
Anaheim not bringing back Hiller, Koivu, and Winnik
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Wonder if Koivu calls it quits. Also, Winnik is a solid grinder. He should be able to find a contract elsewhere. -
Joey Kocur.

Yzerman played the game with integrity. Thornton is a diving, embellishing scumbag. Sather is likely to overpay for him, anyway, if the rumors are true that he is indeed interested. -

I'll never like Thornton. Don't want his diving ass here. Go choke somewhere else. -

I can see him going to a young team that is lacking in the physicality department. Florida, Tampa Bay, maybe Edmonton. I don't see him going to Calgary unless the Flames get rid of Westgarth. -
In other news, Ben Eager has signed with a team in the KHL. Good riddance, scumbag.

I remember hearing that Bob McKenzie stated that Thornton won't have a problem getting a contract from another NHL team. I think the "goon" is being slowly phased out. At the same time, guys like John Scott, George Parros, Kevin Westgarth, and the like still find NHL roster spots. Interesting that GMs still see some need for them. Of course, guys that can play a little bit and fight will get the nod over the goon. Take, for example, the Islanders. Eric Boulton is a pure enforcer. Matt Martin can fight, but can skate a regular shift and contribute in more ways than just fighting. Boulton was scratched quite a bit last season and Martin was a constant. Boulton was re-signed at the end of the regular season, so there's some need for him, but he'll remain behind Martin on their roster. Anyway, at this point in his career, Thornton isn't much more than a goon. He doesn't provide the offense he used to. That being said, he will bring a lot to a young locker room. I can see Florida going after him. -

Hopefully Tootoo can stick around the NHL. I still don't understand the point of signing him to the contract that we did, only to scratch him and send him to Grand Rapids. -

What a load of s***. So, you're arguing for the sake of arguing? Don't waste your time if you're gonna spout baseless arguments. We're definitely not the elite of the NHL anymore, but we're a few pieces away from being serious contenders again. Whether Ken actually brings those key pieces here remains to be seen, but you act like we're the Edmonton Oilers.
