I've noticed that some of the young guns have ditched the visors this year. Zach Bogosian, Jamie Benn, and Davis Drewiske are 3 guys off the top of my head. Good to see the youngsters kickin' it old-school Anyone noticed any other players that have switched?

Watched the Rangers/Isles game, and Vinny Prospal still looks weird without a visor on. -
Wouldn't wanna mess with John Scott, just ask Kevin Westgarth. Good to see some bad blood
-
Trevor Gillies has a target on his back. Everything he does is going to be watched closely, at least short term. Anyways good to see the Isles/Rangers rivalry is alive who says there's no bad blood in hockey anymore?

"The fans absolutely hate it!" Decent scrap. Good to see the linesmen let them tire themselves out.

Yeah its obviously debatable, #12 all time for Selanne sounds about right to me. Made quite a statement in his rookie year. 76 goals I believe? Insane, and continues to put up great numbers today.

And nobody will stop them. Once he's down, we're down. Proved it well tonight. -
It would really wake 'em up if Babcock started sitting whoever hasn't performed, regardless of their big salary, cough Mule.

Big changes coming over the summer. Komisarek very well could be dealt. Who knows if Burke wants to keep guys like Brent, Boyce, Sjostrom or Rosehill. Maybe he'll deal Lebda for a dime. Could Burke go after another scrapper with Colton Orr's foggy future? Wade Belak's available this summer. -

This really shows how much Pavel Datsyuk means to this team. Easily one of the most underrated players in the NHL. -
Interesting list. Kovalev is amazing when he wants to be, but that's his issue. No love for Teemu Selanne? One of the best of all time, in my book. In his prime, Alexander Mogilny was jaw-dropping. Not "Best of all time" jaw-dropping, but he sure as hell could split defenses.

Honestly, we, as Detroit Red Wings fans, have been spoiled rotten the past 20 years to the point where there's 20,000 people at the Joe and you can hear a pin drop in the regular season, and sometimes during the playoffs. We just don't get excited. -

Hopefully he shows up in the playoffs, he just isn't used to playing a full 82 game schedule. -

Sorry to hear about that. I found it pretty lame that nobody really showed any anger. Being down 9-3, 10-3. Come on, wake up. Franzen is better off just being invisible than running his mouth only to disappear when challenged. -

True, but if you look at some of the developing talent: Jamie Benn (No Visor)- 22 goals, 28 assists, 50 points in 62 games Chris Stewart (No Visor)- 27 goals, 23 assists, 50 points in 57 games Ryane Clowe (No Visor)- 24 goals, 36 assists, 60 points in 72 games Brandon Dubinsky (No Visor)- 22 goals, 29 assists, 51 points in 72 games Brooks Laich (No Visor)- 16 goals, 26 assists, 42 points in 77 games Brian Boyle (No Visor)- 21 goals, 12 assists, 33 points in 77 games So I mean it's not all scorers wear visors. There are guys that can put the puck in the net that don't wear visors, but the majority do wear them. Just throwing it out there. -
Franzen's always been streaky. People act like he doesn't go through this every year. Give him until the playoffs, if he doesn't show up then, then ***** all you want.

You know your team has some serious defensive issues when Cam Janssen lights the lamp against you -

I'd be shocked if that changed his ways of playing without a visor. Even after Ian Laperriere took the puck to the face the first time, as soon as he could ditch the face mask/ shield, he did. After he got hit the second time in the face, he finally decided a visor was best for him. He has been out all year, and who knows if he will ever play hockey again. -

I agree with players covering their own medical expenses. They make enough that it wont break the bank. The only NHL player that wears a cage that I can think off is Ryan O'Byrne of the Avalanche. Some guys sport them immediately following a facial injury, but ditch it as soon as possible, it seems. -

Sure, many of today's top players wear visors, but there are plenty good players that don't. It's not just the old guys and brawlers that go without a visor. Also, Many of the stars from the '80s and '90s wore visors too though. Jaromir Jagr, Luc Robitaille, Pavel Bure, Jarri Kurri, Teemu Selanne, Pat Lafontaine, Ray Bourque, Alexander Mogilny, Mike Gartner, etc. -
Could be the end of his career.

Ads all over the boards are better than ads ruining NHL Jerseys.

Yeah i've been working a lot lately. Between school and work, there's not much time for anything else. Missed a ton of games lately, as well. I wish he'd ditch the lid all the time, but I realize it's a "spur of the moment" thing.
-
That's what I meant. I realize he isn't gonna be a big scrapper. I'd like to see him stick with the style of play that got him here in the first place: finishing checks and getting under the opponent's skin, as well as chipping in offensively on occasion.

Weird seeing some of the veteran guys that have never worn them before sporting the visor. Brian Rolston started wearing one last year. Brenden Morrow sustained an eye injury earlier this year and has sported one since. Weird to see him with one on, as well. I'd say it's about 50/50 as far as players who wear one and players who don't.
