This is not Brian Burke's usual type of team. Shocking actually. I think most (including myself) assumed Toronto would soon become one of the meanest teams in the league once Burke took over, but I mean Toronto looks nothing like what I thought they would. The overall team toughness isn't there. Look at the 2007 team he put together in Anaheim, the perfect blend of finesse, grit, and defensive prowess. Skilled guys like Teemu Selanne, Andy McDonald, Chris Kunitz, Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry mixed with meaner guys like George Parros, Travis Moen, Shawn Thornton, and Brad May. The defense was stellar. Pronger, Niedermayer, Bauchemin..Burke has some work to do in Toronto..

The NHL has suspended Toronto forward Mike Brown for 3 Games for a hit on Phoenix's Ed Jovanovski. It was Brown's first game back after he was out 6 weeks with an injury. Can't find the video on Youtube, but I was watching the game when it happened. If anyone comes across a video, please post it!

I don't think Versteeg is the only player Burke is looking to trade..Brown could be on his way out too, possibly. -
Can't go wrong with 'em. I like when Edmonton goes retro as well.

Thanks for the vids, guys. Punishment seems to match the crime. Nothing terrible, but clearly has no place in the game. -
Penner was the only one that got any sort of penalty out of the whole skirmish, which surprises me. I never remember there being anyone running after Scott Stevens after he annihilated someone with a good hard hit.

They were a hell of a fun team to watch about 10 years ago. I remember in 2002 specifically they had a hell of a tough, physical team. Tie Domi, Shayne Corson, Gary Roberts, Darcy Tucker, a young Bryan McCabe, and I believe Wade Belak was on that team too, although he probably didn't play a ton. Combine them with the finesse of guys like Sundin and Mogilny, and that was a fun team to watch. That was the last time I remember Toronto being anything close to a Cup contender, though.

BREAKING NEWS FROM DETROIT: The entire Wings team magically recovered from injuries :carrot: It's getting late.. -
That's a great, clean, hard hit. I understand protecting your fellow team mates, but come on. Does there really need to be stuff like that after every CLEAN hit? I can understand if the hit was dirty, but that's a good solid hit by Doughty.

Amen. -
The guy definitely kept everyone on their toes. He made some of the weirdest comments, but you could tell it was all an act.

Maybe Franzen. -
I wonder what made the mods completely ban him, finally.

The guy is a warrior. He would do it if the team doctors approved it, which they won't. -
They do ship out of state, correct?
-
I see what you did there.

Time to look for a rental? -
This is so weird, because I was just wondering what happened to him. Same with Lidstromboli, haven't seen him around here in forever.

We're really in for it now, guys. Hopefully this doesn't affect Holmstrom down the road. He already has a history of back problems, he doesn't need anything else Homer is one of my favorite Wings. Anyway, who will get the call? Could we be poised to make a deal for a rental in preparation for more injuries down the stretch? -
I just facebooked John and he said he's kickin' all your asses!

As long as he can walk that line he usually walks, Ruutu is one of the biggest agitators in the league, but he can play some decent hockey. Don't wanna see him taking stupid penalties and putting us at a disadvantage.
