Get ready folks, hitting is about to exit our game

I've got an idea, every time a guy falls down, its an automatic minor penalty. If tears are present on the victim's face, the criminal shall be kicked out of the game and suspended indefinitely. sounds like a plan

    Bettman Moving on?

Phoenix had a promisong season last year, and they still can't draw more than 6,500 to a game.

McGrattan and Boyd placed on waivers

If they were totally useless, they wouldn't get contracts. Most enforcers can skate nowadays, but I don't think guys like McGrattan are totally useless. Dress em up for the games you know are gonna be rough, to make the opposition think twice about taking hacks and whacks at your finesse guys.

McGrattan and Boyd placed on waivers

While I agree that they are an endangered species, the NHL does have a few goons. Wade Belak, David Koci, Trevor Gillies, and Steve MacIntyre are a few guys that pop up in my mind. None of them can skate, and none of them can do anything offensively. So while they aren't as common as years ago, those type of guys are still around.

    Justin Abdelkader

Cleary seems to have re-discovered himself after his injury-filled season last year. He looks rejuvinated!

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

I like the kid taking Jackman's place for the time being, Tyson Strachan, an absolute mammoth and I haven't seen the Jackman-type cheap s*** outta Strachan so that's good to see him gettimg some playing time.

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

They seem pretty well-balanced. Skilled guys like Perron, Steen, Berglund and Backes in,the top 6 and a bottom 6 consisting of meaner guys like Winchester, Janssen, and Crombeen. Well-rounded if you ask me.

Now the big question is can he consistently play like he's been recently? He'd be an ideal snarly defenseman if he focused on that part of his game, but being paired with Lidstrom, he's not gonna necessarily be focusing on that part of his game, more passing and knowing when to join the rush, etc.

    Jiri Hudler Watch Thread

The way he's been playing, it makes no sense to put Hudler in the lineup and sit Eaves. No need for a fat contract in the press box, send him away at the deadline for some grit in preparation for the playoff run.

Get ready folks, hitting is about to exit our game

I totally called this once they announced the new headshot rule. No matter how subtle the contact is, ANY contact with a player's head will result in suspensions, fines, etc, no matter how clean the hit is. This is a shame. The game is seriously gonna start turning old-school hockey fans away with this kinda horses***. Its a damn shame.

That was a perfectly clean hit. There better not be ANY sort of disciplinary action at all. This sh it is getting outta control.

***** move by Abdelkader fighting with the visor on..same goes for Ballard.

    Trade proposal

Gotta think so. I think youre dead on with the new jersey speculation. Although its merely speculation, it makes sense, especially with Parise being out for a few months. I think Kenny realizes Hudler's trade value is likely diminishing and possibly is looking to ship him outta town while he's still got some sort of trade value. A hard hitting, in-your-face 3rd liner is just what the doctor ordered. Clarkson isn't on a long term contract so that works in our favor as well.

    Hudler + Helm

Hudler is the definition of a tough as nails enforcer, just ask Mike Brown. Need I post the video?

    Trade proposal

I accumulated my fair share of negs as well. If Bertuzzi was playing like Hudler is, there would be nothing but "Bert blows" threads around here. I just doesn't make sense. He provides very little for this hockey club and I think Babs is finally starting to realize this..he's a healthy scratch again for tomorrow's game in Edmonton. He's eating up salary cap space that can be used for a decent deadline acquisition for the playoff run or something along those lines.
