Well, i know i sound like a broken record, but there's still plenty of gritty guys looking for a job.. Matt Hendricks Brian McGrattan Steve Begin Darcy Tucker
-
Their defense will be stellar, but will their offense be able to carry them? I believe they will round out their bottom 6 by signing a tough guy, especially after Raitis Ivanans signed with Calgary.

For a guy that's questionable, coming off a season that was cut short by concussions, $3.5 Million per year is wicked overpayment. Sure, he's a solid shut-down defenseman, when healthy, but that's the question right there, will he be healthy. Not the wisest move by the Kings, in my opinion. If they would've gave him a $1.5 Million per year contract, that would've been more reasonable. That's just me, though.

Steve Downie re-signs with Lightning
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
he threw his fair share of cheap shots when he was in Philadelphia, but he's really developing into a force. He does everything out there. 22 goals, 208 PIM, and he's just getting started. He's one of the very few true power forwards in today's NHL, like i've said. -
I think Bolduc sits in Manitoba and Bieksa is traded. I think, if they can find a taker, that Darcy Hordichuk will eventually be traded. Not a cap expert, though.

Didn't Torres state he was gonna sign with the Leafs earlier this summer? Looks like Burke will have to look elsewhere for a gritty veteran bottom 6 forward..

Steve Downie re-signs with Lightning

One of the league's very few true power forwards. More than 20 goals and over 200 penalty minutes. A rare breed indeed. -
Vancouver has a plethora of fowards. Sedin-Sedin-Burrows Raymond-Kesler-Samuelsson Hodgson(?)-Malhotra-Torres Hansen-Rypien-Glass *Hordichuk/Bolduc/Tambellinni/V.Oreskovic Maybe they're looking at trading at least one of those extra forwards? I'm thinking Bolduc will spend the majority of the season in the AHL, barring injuries. Depth is never a bad thing. They're looking like one hell of a well-rounded team.

How about... Drop Miller, Ritola, and Meech.. Sign McGrattan at league minimum

Red Wings @ Maple Leafs (Pre-season)
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to CanadaBoy's topic in General
The Leafs will have guys like Rosehill, Deveaux, Orr, Brown, etc. So Mitchell Callahan and Jamie Tardif will hopefully be accompanied by Aaron Downey. It'll be a dandy! -
At least 2 of Miller, Meech, and Ritola gone. Downey in!!

I don't think Toronto is done yet this offseason. I think Burke will lure Raffi Torres and a veteran bottom 6 guy like Steve Begin, Darcy Tucker, or Adam Mair. I'm rooting for Rosehill to get some games under his belt this year. Dallas won't be getting pushed around, with a 4th line of Barch-Sutherby-Burish. Carolina hasn't picked up anyone notable this year, do they still consider Tom Kostopoulos their tough guy?

Now I know this subject causes issues among members here, but I'd honestly like to hear people's opinions on what teams will be the meanest this upcoming year. I'd like to discuss individual "enforcers" with everybody. In no way, shape, or form am I purposely trying to brew trouble. I simply would like to talk about the rough and nasty side of the game. I don't want this to turn into a debate thread, I just wanna talk grit and fighting. Who do you feel will be the meanest team this year? Discuss (Without arguing)

How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros posted a topic in General
Now, my girlfriend is brand new to hockey. Never watched or attended a game in her life. She wants to learn about the game, cause you know, if you're gonna roll with Bring Back The Bruise Bros, you gotta be into the Wings Anyway, how big of a Wings/hockey fan is your wife or girlfriend? Any good stories to be told? Lady posters feel free to chime in on the topic Discuss! -
Toronto, Anaheim, Calgary, and Edmonton for me. With the Leafs adding Mike Brown, and with the possibility of Jay Rosehill playing a bit more than last year, I think Toronto will be up there in fighting majors. Edmonton won't get pushed around, with the additions of Steve MacIntyre, Colin Fraser, and Jim Vandermeer. There's still some tough guys available, like Brian McGrattan, Donald Brashear, and Nick Tarnasky.

PatKaneInHumane?Damn it. Another bandwagon Hawks fan on LGW?

I agree with GMR. Modano does give us depth and a legit OFFENSIVE 3rd line, but bottom 6 guys have to be defensively responsible, which aren't Modano and Hudler's best attributes. The thing that gets me is that in the beginnin of the offseason, all everyone was talking about was getting younger and Kenny goes out and brings in Modano and Salei..I think the defense is gonna be our Achilles heel again this year. Modano and Hudler will produce offensively, but I'm really doubting their defensive play..

In Depth Look at the Central Division
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Rivalred's topic in General
Backes may have split time between the 1st and 2nd line. Either way, that's a solid lineup. Feisty bottom 6. Solid looking defensive pairings. Brewer is the guy I forgot about. Will Alex Pietrangelo get some ice time this year? -

St. Louis will be a hell of a well rounded team: Perron-Backes-Boyes Oshie-McDonald-Berglund McLement-Steen-Crombeen Winchester-Sobotka-Janssen E.Johnson-Polak Colaiocovo-? Strachan-Jackman -
The drama will never end until he's out of Toronto. I think Burke is trying to package him and Grabovski to get a power forward..

He already stated he wanted to stay in Pennsylvania, that's probably why he signed for what he did. Bottom line is, we will have a solid 4th line of Abdelkader-Helm-Eaves hopefully with Downey getting his 40 games. Would I like to see a few more guys willing to throw em? Absolutely. Our 4th line is capable of skating and playing a defensively responsible game, as well as chip in offensively. As far as fighting goes, like I've said, Downey is all we'll get (If that even) for this season.
