Kariya must be willing to take a hell of a paycut to be re-united with Teemu. Haven't heard much about the Bobby Ryan situation lately..Guessing talks have been stalled?

I'm very picky about buying particular player jerseys. If I'm gonna get a player jersey, they've had to be around for a while with Detroit. I personally wouldn't buy a Modano Wings jersey because he will likely play here one year. If Detroit wins the Cup this year? I'd make it a possibility, but that's a stretch. I've got an Yzerman jersey and that's it. Its been long overdue, but I'm finally gonna be getting a Lidstrom jersey soon. Basically, I only buy jerseys of players that had long tenures with the Wings and/or won Cups with the Wings

What Current NHL Players are Locks for the Hall of Fame?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
No way in hell Joe Thornton gets into the Hall of Game. Maybe Iginla if he can win a Cup before he's done, but that seems a stretch. Recchi is a no-brainer. This season he will become the 13th player in league history to score 1,500 points, and as mentioned he's got multiple Stanley Cup rings. Milan Hejduk won't make it. I don't think Tkachuk will make it. Martin St. Louis is interesting to me..could go either way. I think Ozzy eventually gets in. Arnott was a decent power forward on his best days, but never racked up insane amounts of points. Same can be said for Guerin. Alfredsson doesn't make it, in my opinion, due to the fact that he is lacking a Stanley Cup ring. -
Forsberg eyeing another NHL comeback?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Exactly what my thoughts are. Time to give it up, foreskin. -
I'd dump Miller, Ritola, and Meech in order to get Mitchell in an instant. He'd completely round out and solidify our defense.
-
Abdelkader is a definite for the 4th line next year. Meech,Miller, and possibly Ritola are all gone, one way or another.
-
Figured that was coming. Next on the list..Marek Svatos, Fredrik Modin, Freddy Meyer, and Slava Kozlov.

Great signing. Minnesota has a real cluster of forwards... Latendresse Havlat Brunette Sheppard Miettinen Koivu Kobasew Brodziak Clutterbuck Nystrom Madden Staubitz Bouchard(?) Earl Kassian Possibly a trade on the way?

Ok so its wicked late and I was thinking about what my "dream team" would look like. So here's a little challenge: Say the salary cap is $52 Million. Any free agents salaries must be reasonable. Come up with your "dream team", but the twist is to do so without any Wings players that are currently on the roster. I thought and thought and this is what I came up with: Forwards: Ryan Getzlaf-5M Ryan Kesler-5M Ryan Malone-4.5M Ryane Clowe-3.5M James Neal-3M Steve Downie-3M Mason Raymond-2.75M Brandon Dubinsky-1.85M Owen Nolan-1M B.J. Crombeen-675K Nate Thompson-625K Rick Rypien-525K Steve MacIntyre-500K Andrew Peters-500K Defensemen: Shea Weber-4.5M Brent Seabrook-4M Kent Huskins-1.7M Mark Giordano-850K Brendan Witt-500K Jim Vandermeer-500K Goaltenders: Cam Ward-3.5M Steve Mason-850K (I believe) Neal-Getzlaf-Malone Clowe-Kesler-Downie Raymond-Dubinsky-Nolan MacIntyre-Rypien-Crombeen Peters/Thompson S.Weber-Seabrook Giordano-Huskins Witt-Vandermeer C.Ward S.Mason According to my math (Not the most reliable) this team would be good under the cap. Give it a try!

No reason to delete the thread as long as there's nothing obscene or threatening being said. Usually, someone disagrees with someone else by now and remarks are made, and the topic is deleted. I don't feel Ericsson does nearly a sufficient job clearing the crease. Hnidy, as I've said before, is my top choice.

Yes, it would be better than in seasons past, but compared to the rest of the league, we're still not very mean, but at least we're heading in that direction. If we give Bertuzzi a more defined role, I think he'd be fighting a little more. With the injuries last year, he was looked upon as an offensive leader and helped carry the team for a while. With the added depth, Bertuzzi won't have as much offensive duty.

Jamal Mayers signs with San Jose
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
I'm expecting Frazer McLaren to get a full season under his belt this year. -
NHL.com reports Jamal Mayers has signed with San Jose. This signing pretty much rounds out the Sharks 4th line: McLaren-Nichol-Mayers
-
I think if we add Hnidy, that's about as gritty as we'll get for this year. By no means a gritty team. The 4th line will be a good grinding trio, but not any real tough guys. I'm hoping Bert grows some balls and throws some hits next year, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Now all they need is a playoff performer -
I can't see Hudler scoring 30 goals. 20 is a definite for him, though.
-
The regular season can start now
-
You can bet the whole potato farm on that!
-
I'd be happy with Hnidy, Boynton, Witt, or Davison. Freddy Meyer? I haven't watched a whole lot of him. He's not the scrappy type guy. But I don't really know much else about him to comment further than that.
-
Gotta have ma man Downey in there some games next year!

Six free agents to try out for red wings
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to jollymania's topic in General
I wouldn't mind seeing what Archibald could do. Wasn't he the guy that drilled the goalie last year. Seems like a guy that constantly plays on the edge. -
Well Nick Boynton is still out there..He is traditionally grossly overpaid, but maybe (since its August and he's still jobless) he'll sign for cheap. Brendan Witt is looking for work. An interesting guy to me is Rob Davison. He spent the majority of last year in New Jersey's AHL affiliate in Lowell. He'd play for league minimum, and he exactly what we're looking for when it comes to blocking shots, clearing the crease, and keeping opponents honest. I think we should take a chance on him. I wonder if Edmonton is willing to trade Jim Vandermeer. He won't get much playing time. Edmonton's defense seems full.

Mike Modano was indeed a "want", not a necessity. Seems we have the cash to bring in Shane Hnidy, trade Miller,Meech, and/ or Ritola for whatever we can get, and call it an offseason.

They'll get 2-way contracts at the very most, if they blow minds.
