Canadiens part ways with Big George
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to redwingfan19's topic in General
So it looks like he has retired? -
His better days are past him, but we're talking about a guy who could fill Lilja's spot as far as shot-blocking,clearing the crease and he will fight more than Lilja. Is he what he used to be?no. Would he possibly prove to be a good signing,as long as his contract is cheap?Absolutely.

Sorry, double post.

Yikes..Alex Henry re-signs with Montreal.2-year,2-way deal. Yikes..Alex Henry re-signs with Montreal.2-year,2-way deal.

Someone will pick him up off waivers or give him a camp tryout invite if he's still available.

Hell yeah it was. Add Kocur in there and ohhh boy Stevie never took abuse. That's how it should be. That's how it still is, except Detroit I'm really pulling for Downey. I'm sick of seeing Dats and Z get pushed around.Abdelkader is a start, but he'll never be anything more than an agitator.

Probert was unstoppable! I always like watching the clip where Probie gets a job in on Foreskin and Adam Foote came after him and Probie ended up pounding on him. Remember when Maguire fought Yzerman, and Probert was going nuts. The Sabres goalie was in his way, and he punched his helmet off and got a shot in on Maguire.Classic.

Scott Stevens: The Definitive Reel
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to jollymania's topic in General
That's something I'd like to see the league ease up on are the hooking, holding, and interference penalties. With guys getting blasted on dump-and-chase plays, the league needs to allow players to slow down opposing players (in this example,on the forecheck) to avoid these incidents. I'm not saying a guy can use both hands to obstruct a guy, but give him a little clutch. The zero-tolerance system for clutching and hooking is ridiculous.I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way either. -
Good deal for Boston, considering Clarke MacArthur got awarded $2.4 Million.
-
I've always liked Witt. I bet he'd sign for under a mil. If he's bought out, he'll be living pretty good with NY paying the rest of his contract, so maybe he'd sign for like $675,000?
-
Not sure if it has been posted yet, but Boston re-signed Blake Wheeler after he was awarded $2.2 Million by an arbitrator yesterday.
-
He'll get more playing time in Washington than he did in St. Louis last year. They've got plenty of beef with Janssen, Crombeen, and Winchester. Maybe we'll see King and Boogaard go at it again!

Grebeshkov to the KHL
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
He never really played on any good teams, and he was wicked overpaid by the KHL team. Denis Grebeshkov is not worth $3 Million a season. That's how the KHL lures everyone. I expect many more players to bolt for the KHL before the beginning of the 2010-2011 season. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Slava Kozlov, Robert Lang, Ville Koistinen, Ruslan Fedotenko, Maxim Afinogenov, Evgeny Artyukhin, Marek Svatos, and Ruslan Salei all head to the KHL. And those were the guys right off the top of my head. -

I'd really like to think that the Stevens hit on Kariya would be legal in today's NHL, but the fact that Kariya was basically motionless on the ice for a while would automatically warrant a penalty and a game misconduct. I watched some of Andy Sutton's highlight reel hits from last year and saw that he did get away with a few elbows, but overall, the tolerance for late hits and head shots and elbows in today's NHL is decreasing. It is what it is. -
Top 20 Plays with Datsyuk & Zetterberg
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to titanium2's topic in General
I'm really hoping for Turco to sign with the Hawks We light him up every time he steps into the Joe. We could probably create an hour long tribute video of the Wings (Mainly Datsyuk and Zetterberg) kicking Marty Turco's ass -
Washington acquires LW D.J. King from the Blues. They just got their enforcer for next year. He's had some injury problems, but what tough guys don't.

Blake Wheeler awarded 2.2M by arbitrator

I bet the Bruins will take it. I wonder if Boston has made any progress with dealing Savard.. -
Blake Wheeler awarded 2.2M by arbitrator
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to nowhere2005's topic in General
That's what I was thinking.Boston got a good ruling, looking at all the money that's being thrown around to players that don't deserve half of what they're being paid (Boogaard,Shelley,Burish) -
Nobody figured Downey would make the team in 2007-2008, so anything is possible. Plus, Meech and Miller look like they could be on their ways out anyways...

Antti Niemi files for arbitration

Win-win for us.If Niemi stays,Sharp is likely on his way out.If Niemi goes, the sieve Theodore could be the Hawks starter next year -

You heard a North American joke. Now give us a joke,oh nevermind, you already gave us Kovalchuk. Did I make it clear that far more than " a few teams" carry enforcers, especially since you totally ignored my list, other than taking shots at Chipchura and Huskins. -
Are you ready for some football?!?!?

What happened to Boss Bailey? I remember him being somewhat decent. Never anything above average. Did he get traded? Dre Bly will most likely be a backup guy. I can't imagine him starting..
