:rotflmao: So the Cooke hit on Savard wasn't head-hunting,eh? The Richards hit on Booth wasn't head-hunting? Like i said, it doesn't happen a lot, but head-hunting in the NHL will always exist. Only a few teams carry enforcers?? *New York Rangers: Derek Boogaard, Brandon Prust *New York Islanders: Zenon Konopka, Trevor Gillies *Philadelphia Flyers: Jody Shelley (Some people wouldnt consider Carcillo and Walker as enforcers, but they cause hell as well,so look at it as you will) *Pittsburgh Penguins-Mike Rupp, Eric Godard New Jersey Devils-Pierre Luc Letourneau-Leblond *Buffalo Sabres-Cody McCormick *Ottawa Senators-Matt Carkner, Chris Neil *Montreal Canadiens- Well since Laraque was bought out, i'm sure they'll pick someone else up before the start of the sesason. *Boston Bruins- Shawn Thornton (Gregory Campbell will cause hell, but i wouldn't consider him an enforcer) *Toronto Maple Leafs-Colton Orr,Mike Brown,Jay Rosehill looks like he'll get more playing time. *Washington-Newly acquired D.J. King *Carolina-Looks like Kostopoulos is gonna be doing most of their dirty work, minor leaguers could be brought up *Florida-Mike Duco(Played mostly in the AHL last year) *Tampa Bay-Mitch Fritz (Nate Thompson,Steve Downie, and Mathieu Roy will cause hell, but i wouldn't consider any of them enforcers) *Atlanta Thrashers-Eric Boulton, Chris Thorburn, Ben Eager, Boris Valabik *Nashville Predators-Wade Belak (Jordin Tootoo) *St. Louis Blues-Cam Janssen, B.J. Crombeen, Brad Winchester *Detroit Red Wings- Kenny tends to pick someone up right before the beginning of the season *Columbus Blue Jackets-Jared Boll, Derek Dorsett *Chicago Blackhawks-John Scott *Vancouver Canucks-Rick Rypien, Tanner Glass, Darcy Hordichuk *Edmonton Oilers-Zack Stortini, Steve MacIntyre, Jim Vandermeer (Colin Fraser, Jason Strudwick, and Theo Peckham will mix it up as well) *Minnesota Wild-Brad Staubitz (Eric Nystrom isnt gonna shy away either) *Colorado Avalanche-David Koci, Cody McLeod *Calgary Flames-Tim Jackman, Raitis Ivanans (Ryan Stone as well) *Dallas Stars- Krys Barch, Adam Burish, Brian Sutherby *Phoenix Coyotes- Paul Bissonnette *Los Angeles Kings-Richard Clune *San Jose Sharks-Frazer McLaren (Jay Leach and Kent Huskins will mix it up as well) *Anaheim Ducks-George Parros, Kyle Chipchura, Sheldon Brookbank, Aaron Voros "Only a few teams" carry enforcers..That's a great one -
Grebeshkov to the KHL

he was a -16 overall in his short NHL career as well. The KHL pays every player twice of what they're worth. Grebeshkov is not worth $3 Million, i wouldn't even pay him $1.5 Million. But whatever, good riddance, don't try to come back. -

Well in the case that headhunting does happen to some star players, team carry guy(s) that are commonly known as an "enforcer", or a guy that serves as a deterrent for that kind of play, such as head-hunting. Do you see a whole lot of head hunting?no. Does it still happen in the NHL? Absolutely. Combine Nabokov and Fedorov's raw talent and you only have a mere spec of what Gordie Howe brought to the table. That is a bare fact. -

How is that not kockey? If you don't like getting hit and possibly take a couple shots in the head, dont play. Guys still get hit in the head today without any penalties being called on the hit. It's always been a part of the game and it always will be, no matter how hard the NHL tries to crack down on the issue, there's always going to be players that head-hunt. -

He could still be playing right now if it werent for you know what He was an NHL legend in the making as well. I wonder how much his rookie card is worth.. I've got one of his rookie cards so i guess i'll have to look into it. But anyways, Stevens and Konstantinov were 2 of the hardest hitting guys of their era. Too bad Vladdy's career was cut short -
KHL President offers Kovalchuk 17-year deal, choice of team
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Original-Six's topic in General
H double T, i believe Pavs is far more loyal than that Indeed, the Kovalchuk situation is annoying and he's not worth the $10 Million per year he'll get wherever he goes. Will he score 50 goals?sure. Will he put up an average of a point per game?Possibly. But when it counts the most, when the pressure is on, he chokes. The regular season means nothing once you get into the playoffs, and $10 Million for a choker doesn't do it for me. -

I think once you bolt to the KHL, you shouldn't be allowed back in, thats just me though. Hopefully Kovalchuk goes to the KHL and we never hear about him again. -

It is sort of a cheap shot. The KHL will take any attention it can get though. -

Bottom line is, if someone is hurt, there must have been something illegal to call Its ridiculous. -

It would be interesting to see if there would be a penalty in today's NHL on that hit. -
Paul Bissonnette, he plays for the Phoenix Coyotes. He had a twitter account and made some comment, calling Kovalchuk a commie and the day after he made the comment, his account was down and its suspected the Coyotes or the league made him take it down.

The elbows did come up, but in general, open ice hits are still let go. The Kariya hit would be an interesting verdict in today's NHL. Was it a clean hit?I think so. The determining factor would be if they would call a penalty just becuase the guy doesn't get up, which i can't stand. -
Aww you did fine. This is my first time posting in this thread other than my link,i hope the link works

Scott Stevens: The Definitive Reel

The hardest-hitting defenseman of all time. I never get tired of watching Scott Stevens videos. He hit to hurt, he wasn't afraid to answer the bell, although he didn't fight that much. The snarliest, meanest defenseman of all time, hands down. I don't see how his hits were illegal or even borderline. Even in today's NHL, those hits are legal, its just the extra shots and jabs after the hits that get called now. -

There doesn't seem to be a lot of security in the KHL, but that's the risk a player takes when he bolts for Russia. Personally, i think if a player leaves the NHL for the KHL, he shouldn't be allowed back in the NHL once his KHL contract is up for his team folds. That's just me though. -
Good looking t-shirts Hopefully he's back up on twitter soon.I don't have one,but i'll visit his twitter page just to see what he's got to say.

He has the potential to be a hell of a player. Hopefully he doesn't lose the mean streak as he develops. As for the OHL and the NCAA, both have their fair share of cheapshots. The NCAA has the full face cage but there's plenty of cheap shots to go around in the OHL as well. I think the mandatory visor rule in the AHL and OHL,as well as the mandatory full face cage in the NCAA is bogus because you see so many guys taking runs and cheap shots and hiding behind their visors or cages.Plus,if i remember correct, there is not a lot of toleration for fighting in the NCAA. Just ask Brian Burke about the NCAA mandatory face protection rule. I think each player should have the choice of wearing a visor or not, regardless of what league. Yes,there are horrible injuries that happen, but that's the risk you take when you play the game. More and more hands are fractured and broken from punching a visor, its ludicrous. Anyway, i can't wait to see what Smith can bring to the table

Hopefully the attendance is 5,000 and the NHL makes no money and gets no ratings. The NHL Winter Classic has officially been ruined.Well,it was fun while it lasted.Until the NHL features two teams that haven't had a chance to participate in one before,i will never watch an NHL Winter Classic game again.

Just go to the KHL already and get it over with. He's not worth $100 Million.Hopefully he just taakes the damn offer and we never hear about him again. -

Add Niemi to the list. He'll be awarded somewhere around $3 Million.
