Guess that means contract talks with Hamhuis didn't go over well.
-
I agree with you to a certain point, dropkickshanahans, but a guy like Modano, who in my opinion,is a future hall of famer, shoul be given a contract at league minimum or something, and if he rejects it and bolts to another team, then whatever,he's not loyal then. But seriously,a little loyalty for a future hall of famer who wants to finish his career in the organization in which he's played as a part for over 20 years.
-
His age really caught up with him after he hoisted the Cup in 2006.He's been around as long as I can remember.sucks to see him go
-
What Dallas did to Modano was a classless move.He played his brains out for that organization his whole career and they leave him hanging, instead of offering him a cheap contract so he can finish his illustrious career there. What Dallas did to Modano wad a stab in the back.No question about it.

I'd take any of them,to be honest. -

I can't see Kenny letting go of Eaves. He proved to be solid both offensively and defensively last year for us.I expect him back.I don't want Miller back, give me Boogaard!!! -
4th Round Pick (111), Teemu Pulkkinen

Don't know much about him,but the best thing for him to do is to transition from the European game to the North American game. The sooner he does that, the better,in my opinion. -

I'm hoping for a sign and trade deal with Miller and Meech. -
That's what i'm thinking.He fell short of 500 goals.Won a Cup,but just because you win the Cup doesn't mean you're a hall-of-famer.Your comment about Nieuwendyk makes a good point too.Brind'Amour was a great player,and a joy to watch,but unfortunately i don't think he will get in.

Me neither.Carolina won't be the same without him.

Any Possiblity of Modano to the Wings?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Erik327's topic in General
Trade Miller and Meech,Let Lilja,Maltby,and Lebda walk,and we've got enough cap room for Modano and a 6th defenseman and possibly an extremely cheap 4th liner i believe.How about: Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Filppula-Zetterberg-Hudler Cleary-Modano-Bertuzzi Boogaard-Helm-Abdelkader Draper/Ritola Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Kronwall Ericsson-Colaiocovo -
Oilers Place Nilsson, Moreau, and O'Sullivan on Waivers

it would only make sense for Edmonton to keep Jim Vandermeer, due to the likely departure of Aaron Johnson. -
True.I can't imagine Mike Modano wearing any jersey other than a Stars sweater, and i'm not even a Stars fan.I can't imagine what it would be like. It's kinda like if Detroit didnt offer Holmstrom an extension. Can anyone really imagine Homer anywhere else besides Detroit?
-
Any opinions on whether he is a future hall of famer?I'm kinda leaning towards no..but he was such a team guy his whole career. So who knows.
-
I can't imagine Dallas booing Modano if he indeed does sign with another team. It's not like Modano got an offer from Dallas and turned it down in favor of another offer.
-
Another old timer bites the dust.I always liked watching Brind'Amour play.He was always a heart and soul guy.Great carrer Rod
-
Boyd would be a solid 4th line center for Montreal. He reminds me of Helm.
-
Its gonna be interesting to see what Kenny does on July 1st.He's not known to make huge splashes via free agency.I think the blueline needs to get tougher,so gimme Nick Boynton and I'm happy,as far as defense goes.
-
I'd be all for Modano signing here.Obviously,a few guys are gonna have to go.I'd be happy with something along the lines of this: Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Filppula-Zetterberg-Hudler Cleary-Modano-Bertuzzi Boogaard-Helm-Abdelkader -Draper,Eaves -Let Miller go -Get rid of Ritola Sort of unlikely, but interesting that Bob McKenzie sites us as a possibility.I'd be stoked if he came to Detroit.
-
Total classless move by the Stars organization. This guy has done nothing but play his heart out every game for 22 years in the organization, and they don't give him a contract to finish his career in Dallas? What a joke. He's been the face of the franchise forever. He's done incredible things for that organization and the city of Dallas. What a ******* joke.
-
Plenty of better options out there anyway: Andy Sutton Shane Hnidy Jim Vandermeer Nick Boynton Sean O'Donnell Brendan Witt Jay McKee Jay Leach Jason Strudwick Garnet Exelby I'd be happy with any of them, but my top choices are Sutton and Vandermeer.Obviously, money may be an issue with Sutton.

The only guy I'd possibly consider is Voros.I like Moreau, but its already been made clear that we intend on getting younger.Brashear needs to hang em up,seriously.Guy thinks he's the badass of the league.he's way past his prime. But I'm sure someone will send him a camp invite or something, but he needs to retire. -
Cheechoo will find himself in Florida next year, they'll take anyone.

Another solid option for 6th defenseman is Jim Vandermeer, who was just placed on waivers by the Coyotes.
