I'd like to talk about this off-season/next season

-Let Samuelsson, Bertuzzi, Cleary, Eaves, and Quincey walk. Wait to see what Alfredsson decides to do regarding the possibility of retirement. -Re-sign Dekeyser, Tatar, Sheahan, and Glendening. -Do Jordin Tootoo a favor and buy him out so he can sign on with a team that will utilize him correctly, instead of wasting his career away by burying him in the minors. The way we've dealt with him has been pathetic. -For the love of Jesus or whoever else you may believe, get a top 6 forward with a pair between his legs. -Package Franzen and Andersson with a pick/prospect to get a top-end defenseman. -Get a 4th line winger that will actually bang and crash. Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Stewart Tatar-Weiss-Nyquist Abdelkader-Helm-Insert prospect here Miller-Glendening-Carcillo Sheahan Kronwall-Girardi Ericsson-Kindl Smith-Smid Lashoff

    Tootoo called up

This team is pathetically soft. Good luck getting anywhere in the playoffs with a lineup like this.
  3. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Tootoo called up

That lineup is atrocious. Is Cleary really getting 4th line time over Tootoo? Will Tootoo be a healthy scratch?

    Wings muscle?

While it would be a breath of fresh air compared to Samuelsson-Emmerton-Cleary, a 4th line of Westgarth-Peluso-Orr would be too one-dimensional. My idea of an ideal 4th line is something along the lines of Paille-Sobotka-McGrattan. Sobotka and Paille have the speed, in addition to playing a physical style. McGrattan, specifically, will keep the flies off.

    Wings muscle?

Muscle? Nah, why employ someone who will keep other teams honest? Instead, let the league take care of incidents like the Cowen hit on Datsyuk. ...Wait.

    12/15 GDT: Lightning 3 @ Red Wings 0

This team is a wreck. Difficult to watch.

Shawn Thornton attacks Orpik (leaves game on stretcher)

Unbelievable that Thornton is going to get more than Neal. That knee by Neal is a classic example of what the league wants to get rid of. It was intentional, he made no effort to avoid it, and the principle point of contact was the head. If Marchand was taken off on a stretcher, Neal would've got a hell of a lot more time off than he will. This is the problem with making calls and handing out suspensions based on the end result. What Thornton did to Orpik was cheap. However, if Orpik gets up after that, Thornton might not even be suspended for it. Orpik throws big hits and plays on the edge, but he has his gloves superglued to his hands. He'll get into scrums and talk s*** but runs away when challenged to drop the gloves. He never answers the bell for anything.

Do Quincey and Smith have a future in Detroit?

Quincey needs to go after this year. My mind would be blown if Ken brought him back. He doesn't really provide anything, in particular. He's a pretty big guy, but doesn't really play physical. His offensive production has completely disappeared, and he's not particlarly good defensively. I think there is still hope for Smith. He definitely needs to work on his defensive mechanics. In the games I've seen this year, he's made terrible passes through the middle of the ice in his own zone, pinched at horrible times, and been easily knocked off the puck. If he can't step it up, he better alter his game, as in play more physical and drop the gloves more often. I still think he has potential to develop, though. Being paired with Quincey has not helped him.

    12/6 GDT 7:00PM: Red Wings 3 at Devils 1

That fourth line is absolutely pathetic. At least Weiss is back where he has at least a snowball's chance in hell of producing anything.

Mike Commodore's experience with the Wings

I liked the style of play Commodore brought to the table, but he's had the reputation of being a whiner for a long time, and deservedly so, in my opinion. He was brought in to play the role of a rugged, scrappy shut-down defenseman. For his size, he should've been a hell of a lot more physical and willing to drop the gloves. Not that he didn't do these things at all, but I don't specifically remember him being the most physical guy out there. He filled the role average, at best. He dropped the gloves a whopping 3 times in 17 games in the regular season with Detroit. He came off as kind of a ****** due to some of the stuff he posted online of the course of his NHL career, as well.

It's the Darren Helm show at Nassau!

11/27 GDT: Bruins 1 at Red Wings 6

Those lines look pathetic. Looks really empty without Datsyuk. Cleary and Samuelsson on the 4th line? Yuck.

Hurricanes Offering Ruutu and Tlusty to Get a Defenseman

We've got an absolute plethora of soft forwards, already.

****(Stuff) no one says about the Wings

Might wanna call up your AHL goons, we're playing Detroit tonight.
  15. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    What is Samuelsson's role?

To keep scrappy guys that bust their ass off the 4th line.

    11/24 GDT: Red Wings 3 @ Sabres 1

At least we can still take care of Buffalo. Nyquist needs to stay up for the remainder of the season.

What Does This Team Need More/Most?

We need a physical scoring presence in our top 6. Dare I say a power forward. And no, Franzen isn't a power forward. We need a puck moving defenseman for our top 4 on the blueline. We need over-the-hill players like Samuelsson and Cleary gone. Guys that bust their asses (Tootoo) should be on the 4th line instead of Samuelsson. Blows my ******* mind.

    Sabres' Scott offered in-person hearing.

Too hefty. He's never been suspended before.

Avs trade Downie to Flyers for Talbot

Doesn't make much sense for Colorado. They've been playing so well lately. Why mess with team chemistry? The Flyers needed to shake things up and I think they got the best of this trade.

    Sabres' Scott offered in-person hearing.

Raffi Torres is still around too, so I'm not sure what the point of this post was.

    Sabres' Scott offered in-person hearing.

I highly doubt he'd get banned altogether. Kaleta has been pulling antics for years and he's still around.
  22. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Sabres' Scott offered in-person hearing.

That hit is definitely gonna earn him a few games. Direct contact with the head. In Scott's defense, his elbow was tucked, and the size difference between the two ultimately burned Scott. I think 3-5 games seems right. Scott's not making any friends this year. He's gonna have everybody and their mother after him when Buffalo plays Toronto next month, and he'll have to answer for this against Boston.

McLeod suspended 5 games for hit on Kronwall

I don't find myself agreeing with the length of suspensions very often, but I think the league got this one right. It was a dirty hit and McLeod knew exactly what he was doing. On a side note, I love how Avs fans jumped right on the bandwagon with their dolt of an announcer, saying Kronwall throws dirty hits all the time. Show me a dirty hit from behind by Kronwall. Avs fans are just as dumb as they used to be. Granted, not all Avs fans subscribe to this kind of idiocy, but it seems like a significant portion were quick to scream "LOLOLOL SERVES KRONWALL RIGHT". I want Tootoo to beat McLeod's ass March 6th. Its no secret that McLeod is a certified punching bag.
  24. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Sabres' Kaleta suspended 10 games.

As much as I don't like Kaleta, 10 games for that hit is really excessive. Was the head targeted? Absolutely. Was it reckless? You bet. I think a few games is appropriate. What I don't understand is how the refs missed it. There wasn't even a penalty called on the play.

    Lineup Crunch: Who's going?

I'd be hesitant to change anything, considering how well we've played the past few games. I really like the 4th line of Miller, Glendening, and Tootoo. I'm hoping Samuelsson is the odd man out. Eaves seems like he could go, too.
