Ohh.I'm waiting for TSN or CBC to report this before I rejoice. -
Agreed. If Torres is out or reach,I think Owen Nolan would be a solid, cheaper guy to take Bert's spot.

Chicks dig guys with NHL rules named after them. -
An offseason situation that really interests me is Toronto's situation. With Kaberle on the trade block, and pending free agents such as Garnet Exelby,Wayne Primeau,Fredrik Sjostrom,Jonas Frogren,Mike Van Ryn,and Rickard Wallin, the Leafs could look a lot different next year.Burke seems to have his top 4 defensemen set with Mike Komisarek,Dion Phaneuf,Francois Bauchemin, and Luke Schenn.Tyler Bozak looks like he'll be there next year.He seems to like Giguere and Gustavsson between the pipes. He's mentioned the bottom 6 will be bigger and meaner(or else it wouldn't be Burkie).Thoughts?

He's hands down my favorite announcer of all time. He's called so many good memories.I'll never forget his call in 2002 when McCarty got a hat trick against the Avs:HAT TRICK!!HAT TRICK!!DARREN MCCARTY!! Then there was the memorable Yzerman triple OT goal against the Blues in 1996: STEVE YZERMAN!!!DETROIT WINS!!! Then the McCarty goal in 1997 against the Flyers: McCarty drives...McCarty in.McCarty.SCOOOOORESSS!!!A MAGNIFICENT GOAL!!!!!DARREN MCCARTY!!!!! The list just goes on and on.Isn't he doing Baltimore Orioles games now?

This is gonna be a s***ty finals to watch because no matter who wins, some ****** who used to play for us is gonna be lifting the Cup..

I was hoping his peak would be a few consecutive 100 point seasons...He really did slide statistically..

God does exist...a guy who doesn't let other people push him around, coming to the Wings! -
Agreed.I think Lilja is a totally different ever since the concussion.Brookbank will sign for about half Lilja's contract.Morris, imo, isn't what were looking for in a 3rd defensive pairing.Shane O'Brien seems like a good option as well as Brookbank.
-
I like the idea of Owen Nolan on the 3rd line.Bertuzzi isn't a 3d line player imo and with Cleary or Hudler probably alternating 2nd/3rd line spots,it looks like Bert would be on the 3rd line.Imo he's nowhere near gritty enough and Nolan would be awesome.I think Sheldon Brookbank would be a good cheap option for Ericssons partner. He hits, fights, blocks shots, plays well defensively, and I can't imagine he would cost more than 1 million. He's my first choice.

There aren't enough middle fingers in the world to salute you.

I wouldn't have a problem with either.

Well let's hear your suggestions, future NHL GM.

I agree. All this going around about Holmstrom supposedly wanting a raise is ridiculous considering he's like 37.Wrong time to ask for a raise, especially with the cap crunch.Lidstrom should take a paycut.Even if it was "only" 1 mil, that could be spent on another piece to make a run at the Cup next year.in 2002 specifically,Yzerman wasn't the only guy that took less money in order to get other key assets. In order to win, sacrifices need to be made. The reward for these sacrifices, like in 2002,will come at the end of the season when the Cup is back in the Motor City.

Very true.Nystrom is due for a steady pay raise and were only gonna be able to offer him so much.A guy that can skate a little better and drop the gloves, and probably would sign at league minimum would be Josh Gratton.Thoughts?
