Yzerman Likely to Target Wings Players
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
To me,Alex Tanguay is a definite to be let go.He was a real disappointment in Tampa last year.Steve Downie will most likely be re-signed.I wouldn't count on Konopka being re-signed tho. -
They can have him. There's enough overpaid,under-performing assholes in this league.Let them all go to Russia.

In the summer of 2008 after the Wings won the Cup,Jimmy Howard brought the Cup back to his hometown of Ogdensburg,NY.I went up there with a friend and i met him and i got a picture taken of me and him and the Stanley Cup.I'll never forget it

I've been excited to see what this kid can do.I've never seen him play before and i look forward to watching him in Traverse City and Grand Rapids.

If you were Brian Burke

From what i've seen of him,he ditches it 99% of the time. That would be a great signing. -

His salary will be about the same as Lilja's.He's younger, more aggressive, and seems pretty defensively responsible. If he's gonna be fighting,he needs to ditch the visor every time.I'm not a big fan of watching windshield wars. -

From what I've heard,Exelby and Van Ryn are on their way out.Oreskovic will most likely get the spot imo.Exelby would be a great addition here.I think Boris Valabik is a good option as well. -

So true.Konopka is on his way out...... -
Colin Fraser seems like a good option.Penalty killer, grinder, and drops the gloves.I'd consider him an upgrade over Miller.

Red Wings patiently waiting for Lidstrom's decision

Hudler's defensive contribution is not much better than Bert's,but Hudler will do more offensively.Yes,Bertuzzi is a lot bigger, but he doesn't use his size ever so it doesn't even matter.People are saying we need to get younger, well letting Bert walk would be a good start. He's not a horrible player, but with Hudler coming back,he'll probably end up with 3rd line duty, which requires some defense, which Bert lacks majorly. There are better options than Bert. -

I think Phaneuf will bounce back next year. He's got the skills to be a top end player in this league.Yes,Mike Komisarek is overpaid, but provided he stays healthy next year,he's gonna be a freight train and a good 2nd pairing guy. He's definitely not top defensive pairing material. -

I can't see Hanson in Toronto next year.I always wondered why Burke signed Grabovski in the first place.Doesn't surprise me he's gonna be traded. -

Shawn Thornton will most likely be a Leaf next year.Burke had him on the Ducks Championship team in 2007. -
It's Official: Happy Hudler is Back

Just a warning,in his book, you're automatically a dumbass and you're not a true hockey fan and you should be ashamed of yourself for even bothering to talk to him if you even disagree with him the slightest bit. -

Burke is doing what every NHL GM should do:build from the net out.Goaltending wins championships. He seems content with the tandem of Giguere and Gustafsson between the pipes. As for defense,he has really set up a solid top 4.I suspect he's gonna sign a couple bruisers for his 3rd defensive pairing, trade Finger away, and leave Gunnarsson as the 7th defenseman. Burkie will beefen up his bottom 6 as well.Colton Orr will be surrounded by other hard-hitters i suspect, next year.As far as the top 6 go,I think Nathan Horton will be a prime target for Burke. He can light the lamp and throw the weight around. Toronto is gonna be a very competitive in the years to come.I really see the pieces of the puzzle being put together. -
add speed and grit. 3 guys we should sign.

Konopka would be nice. He's one of the better faceoff guys in the league and he's tough as nails and he's cap friendly -
My worst nightmare is Patrick Kane then Marian Hossa skating with the Cup and then passing it along to Dustin Byfuglien.
-
Imagine MacIntyre in a Wings jersey.I like Riley Cote too.Not a top fighter in the game today, but he doesn't back down from anyone.

Who says Philly is a guarantee to make the Finals? There's still a series to be played.yeah the Habs are down 3-1 but they've been thru it before.Don't count them out yet.

When we won the Cup in 08,i remember he brought the Cup to Odgensburg,New York(his hometown) and i went up there and got to touch the Cup and a got a picture of me and Jimmy with the Cup.It was pretty sweet. He's a good guy. -

The only problem with Plekanec is his price tag.I'd like to see Owen Nolan on the 3rd line, taking Bertuzzi's place,as Hudler will move to the 2nd line. -
Peter Worrell was a beast, although he didn't play very long.
