Not surprising coming from Franzen. Gutless cheapshot. Cheap hit by Perron, too. I agree with the call on the ice. Franzen should've dropped his gloves instead of spearing him.

GDT 2/5 GDT : Flames 4 at Red Wings 1

Cleary has no points on the year. He hasn't looked great at even strength. Unless he turns it around, we just can't afford to have him on our roster next year. -

They skated circles around us tonight. Penalty kill sucked. This team has some glaring holes. Cleary looks awful. Quincey needs to sit. Neither Bertuzzi or Filppula had a single shot on net. Hell, Datsyuk didn't have a shot on goal. Helm and Smith need to get back, but we have larger problems than that. -
I don't even know what to say anymore. Lol.

Something tells me Matt Kassian could be on his way out. I doubt Rupp, Konopka, and Kassian will all see ice time this year.

Some thoughts: -Good job by Tootoo to set the tone off the opening draw. The refs had to save Nystrom. -Brunner looks like he's starting to comfortable out there. -I still like Kent Huskins in our top 6. -Filppula has looked better the last couple of games. -Brendan Dillon should've taken his visor off before fighting Tootoo. Pretty annoying when guys neglect to when they're squaring up. Pretty good fight between the two. -
Wings Looking For Defenseman

There is no doubt he's got talent. Top pairing material. The doucher factor is too strong in this case. He could be even worse if he wasn't playing for his favorite childhood team. The guy is putting his bank account before his team. Sign something and get out there and play. I doubt he's gonna starve if he has to take $750,000 less than he'd like. -

Not to mention he is a big spot-picking doucher. -
Schenn suspended 1 game for a clean hit
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Give me a break. He didn't charge from the other end of the ice, and its not like he smashed his face into the boards from behind. The fact that this hit is even being discussed as possibly suspension-worthy is ridiculous. -
White and Colaiacovo are out several weeks. Kindl has yet to play a game. It's not like all these guys are game-time decisions. Several guys will be out for a while.

Schenn suspended 1 game for a clean hit
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Tootoo kept his elbows down and his feet on the ice throughout the entire hit. Hockey is a dangerous sport. Guys can get hurt on clean hits. Schenn's hit was a charge. However, it shouldn't be a suspendable hit. -
Right. We should've just played with 4 or 5 defensemen.

No. That post was littered with sarcasm. Neither hit should even be considered suspendable. -

Tootoo should've been suspended 1 game for his hit last night. Especially since the victim fell to the ice, increasing the risk of him hitting his head on the ice and causing a concussion. What's a one game suspension anyway? -

I happen to agree with you regarding Samuelsson and Bertuzzi's contracts. There was definitely no reason to give Samuelsson a NTC. In my opinion, it was idiotic to give Bertuzzi that second year. Quincey has been a big failure this far. Overpayment. However, PARISE AND SUTER WENT TO MINNESOTA FOR FAMILY. THEY WEREN'T COMING HERE ANYWAY. Neither of them are worth the idiotic contracts that Minnesota gave them. Yikes. Holland has made stupid moves, but overpaying for either of these overrated pansies would've been majorly stupid moves. Also, players like Tootoo are desperately needed here. He's basically our only source of snarl and constant physicality up front. In my opinion, more players that play a similar style to his are needed. I already explained the Huskins situation to you, but you never directly replied. -

What happened to assessing a 2 minute minor for charging and moving on? This league is really going downhill. It was definitely a penalty, but it was far from warranting a suspension. -

What should've Ken done in that situation? I am a big critic of Ken, but every single move he makes doesn't warrant whining. Huskins played well last night. Hell, better than that dolt Quincey, who we're paying $3 million/year.My point is, I don't see why the Huskins deal is anything to cry about. It's not like Ken was gonna get Dan Girardi here for $750,000. -
To Winnipeg: Johan Franzen Kyle Quincey Tomas Tatar Jakub Kindl Cory Emmerton Ken Holland To Detroit: Tobias Enstrom Evander Kane Jim Slater Mark Stuart Zetterberg-Datsyuk-E.Kane Nyquist-Filppula-Samuelsson Cleary-Helm-Bertuzzi Miller-Slater-Tootoo Enstrom-Kronwall Ericsson-White M.Stuart-Huskins Colaiacovo
-
As much as I dislike Emmerton, he has looked decent. I think he'll sit once Bertuzzi and Helm are back, though.
-
Should've had the #96 at the edge of the creases last night.

I mean, if we were to let White walk (Or if he chooses to walk) where do we go from there? MAJOR rebuilding will need to be done on the blueline. I'm not talking about signing some depth defenseman and heading to the golf course for the summer. If White is not re-signed, we're left with: Niklas Kronwall Jonathan Ericsson Kyle Quincey Brendan Smith Carlo Colaiacovo Jakub Kindl We need, regardless of whether White is brought back or not, a legitimate top-pairing defenseman (Tobias Enstrom comes to mind). We need a shut-down defenseman that is adept at killing penalties and adding some snarl to our blueline. I know Ken was desparate at the time, so I don't blame him for the signing, but I'm afraid the Colaiacovo deal is gonna be a trainwreck. I like him, but he's just never healthy. Serious changes need to be made over the summer. -

I think this blueline will look much different next year. If Colaiacovo can't stay healthy, he's gonna have to go. Quincey needs to significantly step it up or I'll be on board with the "Amnesty Quincey" crowd. We're only a couple games into the season, but I'm not impressed with several players on this team. To be honest, I'd like to see White back next year. -
24, 25, and 26 need to be off-limits. Not retired, but kind of like Konstantinov's 16.
