Jordin Tootoo: Usage? (6:57 TOI vs. Columbus)

Tootoo is far from one dimensional.

Red Wings sign D Kent Huskins to 1-year, $750k contract

Huskins played well tonight. I like him as a 3rd pairing defenseman.

    Damn. White has been decent.

I must have missed it. What happened to White?

So, anyone else sick of Franzen magically turning into a scrapper only when the refs are around?

The defense needs some more repairs. Howard bailed us out several times. One bright spot on defense was that Kent Huskins was solid tonight. He better not sit when Ericsson comes back. Good to see Brunner get his first official NHL goal. Too little, too late though. Lehtonen was solid for Dallas. Jagr can still play. Ryder burned us.

Any bets on who gets hurt tonight?

I don't mind this, but I'm definitely not ecstatic. He's a big guy, but from what I remember of him, he isn't very physical. Typical Kenny signing. If we were gonna pick up an extra defensemen, why didn't we just pick up Vandermeer when he was available?

Jordin Tootoo: Usage? (6:57 TOI vs. Columbus)

It was a BS penalty-fest yesterday. Special teams accounted for like half of the game. No wonder he didn't play a lot. He's been one of the only guys busting his ass every shift.

1/21: Red Wings 4 at Blue Jackets 3 (SO)

What a way to end it by Brunner! Decent game. We had some hiccups on defense but it was definitely a better effort than last game. Good on Tootoo to set the tone off the opening draw. Jared Boll is a legitimate tough guy, so there's no shame in taking a few shots in the scrap. Quincey looked lost again. Lashoff earned himself a couple extra games with his decent performance. Some of these penalty calls have been absolute boolsheet.

    Giant Griffins bench-clearing brawl

Beach is a major league spotpicker. Also, that dolt running around the ice cheapshotting everyone is Kenndal McArdle. He signed a PTO with Rockford a couple days back. Hopefully his useless ass is released. 3rd man in at least twice during the brawl. Coward. Props to Triston Grant and the rest of the team for heading out there. At least our minor league team has some guts. Of course Rockford came out on top in a lot of the fights, because either McArdle jumped in as the 3rd man or our finesse guys were being jumped by their 4th liners.

Did they ever skate circles around us in the 1st. Gotta match their physicality. Nice dive by Tarasenko on the Kronwall "Penalty".

    Wings Looking For Defenseman

True. His contract is quite inflated. What are your thoughts on Franson? I don't know a whole lot about him.

    Wings Looking For Defenseman

With Nonis making so many moves, it seems like here is somewhat of a possibility of him being moved, especially since he'll likely be bought out at the end of the year if he continues to underperform. Toronto might as well get something for him.

    Wings Looking For Defenseman

Franson's a big guy. For some reason I feel like he's been criticized for his lack of adequate use of his size. He looks like he's got some offensive upside. Why would Toronto get rid of him in the first place? And I agree that Komisarek seems like the more likely candidate to go. I'd be on board for Komisarek coming here, and I know you would too.

    The person below me game...

The slippers I've got now are amazing. The person below me has a long day ahead of them.

    Eaves Cleared to Play

Good news. Someone has to go, now. There really isn't any getting around it. Hopefully we'll get a defenseman in return. I'm gonna leave this list of defensemen here for Ken, because he definitely browses around the LGW forums: Anton Volchenkov John Erskine Cory Sarich Mike Komisarek Douglas Murray Zach Bogosian

Connolly on waivers? Shaking things up in Toronto.

    Wings Looking For Defenseman

I agree with you, partly. Keep in mind that Commodore's career was already going downhill upon his arrival in Detroit. Additionally, Sarich is a bit quicker than Commodore. Would Sarich have to settle for #7 here? Possibly, so I see what you're getting at.

TooToo - the lovable little Tasmanian Devil

I don't think its necessary for him to fight a lot, either. Unfortunately, he's never gonna back anything up. The gloved punch on Montador last year was real ballsy. I like his offensive upside, but the guy is a spineless little weasel. That may rub some here the wrong way, but its the stone cold truth.

TooToo - the lovable little Tasmanian Devil

He's got all the tools to be a power forward. It is far beyond embarrassing.

    Wings Looking For Defenseman

What about Cory Sarich? He's 34 years old. Blocks shots, clears the crease, and is one of the harder hitters on the blueline.

    Adam Pardy placed on Waivers

I didn't mind him during his time with Calgary. I don't know a ton about him, though.

TooToo - the lovable little Tasmanian Devil

He got tough..until Vandermeer threw one haymaker at him. Then he laid on the ice like he got shot. I'm sure Vandermeer would've been a welcome addition to this team. He skated with a few members of the Canucks in British Columbia for a short time, then supposedly those select few Canucks said good things about him to Mike Gillis. He'll be one of the only honest players amidst a sea of divers in Vancouver.
