Has your opinion of kenny changed?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Motown4013's topic in General
I honestly can't believe we're seriously having a discussion about whether Tootoo is a better player than Emmerton. I'm not sure how anyone in their right mind would say Emmerton is a better player. Tootoo scored 30 points last year, hits like a truck, and is a solid fighter. Emmerton scored 10 points last year, is deathly afraid of hitting anything, and has his gloves glued to his hands. How is this even an argument? "Tootoo got benched last year in the playoffs." That might have something to do with the Kostitsyn sisters, Paul Gaustad and the return of Radulov. I'm standing by Kenny on this one. -

Of the players you listed, I'd take Boll, Dorsett, Jovanovski, Mitchell, and Allen on the Wings. Screw the rest. I'm not a huge fan of either Mitchell or Allen, but I don't hate them. -

You hate Jared Boll and Derek Dorsett? I'd love if they played for Detroit. -

There's a huge difference there, friend. Backes runs his mouth an awful lot and backs down from legitimate scrappers, and only fights guys he is sure he can knock around. Do you see guys like Zetterberg, Franzen, Datsyuk, etc running their mouths at all? Fighting anyone at all? No. On the other hand, Backes will chirp everyone, but will only go with a select few. Your entire top 6 is former or present Canucks Any chance Tootoo impresses and he is taken off your list of hated players? Or is he set in stone? -

Yeah, Backes is a major spot-picker. Fake tough guy. He's more than willing to drop the gloves with the likes of Shawn Horcoff, Rick Nash, Jonathan Toews, and Dominic Moore, but shies away from any and all legitimate scrappers. -

I used to hate him too, but similarly to Downie, he's ditched the visor and hasn't thrown AS MANY cheapshots. Still kind of a cheapass, but I'm excited for a physical presence on our 4th line. He's not nearly as cheap as he used to be. -

Yeah I can see why you would hate him. He's a gamer, though. -

I totally forgot about Alexander Semin. Carolina can have fun with his horrible work ethic. -

Looking at your teams, I can't say that I despise Cam Janssen, Dan Carcillo, or Steve Downie. Janssen is a ballsy guy, considering he takes on all the heavyweights in the NHL, despite constantly giving up height, weight, and ultimately reach. Its annoying how cocky he is, though, so I can see why you hate him. I absolutely loved Carcillo when he broke into the league with Phoenix. Over the past few years, however, he's been starting to dive and embellish and pick his spots. He's turned into more of an agitator than anything else. If he continues to be a cheapass and pick his spots, then yeah, he'll find his way on one of my lists. I used to absolutely hate Downie when he broke into the league with Philadelphia. He used to hide behind his visor and majorly pick his spots. His cheapshot on a restrained Jason Blake really made me hate him. However, over the past few years, he's ditched the visor and he doesn't throw as many cheapshots. He's mediocre when the gloves come off, but he's improved his overall game significantly. I consider him a power forward. -

[Retired] Official Lockout Thread
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
I couldn't care less if the league folds at this point. Money has poisoned the game. Its a joke that thousands of people in this nation are homeless, while these douchers sit around and bicker and whine over who gets more of the multi-million dollar pie. Its sickening. -
An "All-Provincial" Team From Each Province
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to spencermeisner's topic in General
Totally not a lineup based on province, but I just wanna post a dream team. Benn-Datsyuk-Stamkos Simmonds-Filppula-Ladd Glencross-Helm-Neil Miller-McCormick-Tootoo -McGrattan Enstrom-Girardi Kronwall-Smith Erskine-Bickel Peace. -
Was thinking about making a thread like this. Unfortunately, I think Sean O'Donnell will retire I really liked him. I think Holmstrom is done. Eric Godard announced his retirement a few days ago. There are plenty more guys that we may not see play again: -Brian Rolston -Jason Arnott -Mike Knuble -Andrew Brunette -Radek Dvorak -Brendan Morrison -Jody Shelley -Jay Pandolfo -Jaromir Jagr -Ray Whitney -Eric Boulton -Andreas Lilja -Andy Sutton Bertuzzi and Samuelsson will be a year older, too.

Cory Emmerton: 71 GP-10 points Darren Helm: 68 GP-26 points Drew Miller: 80 GP- 25 points Jordin Tootoo: 77 GP- 30 points Comparing Tootoo to Emmerton is laughable on so many levels. I know some fans think fighting and physical play is yucky, but it is hockey, as a matter of fact. Its about time we got someone with a pair between their legs. Tootoo won't be benched; he wouldn't have got the contract he did if he was just gonna sit. "Hacks" like Emmerton will be traded to make room for him.

Exactly how I feel. Greedy douchers.

If I was to start a hockey league, this is how it would look, from an on-ice standpoint: -No trapezoid area. Goalies can freely handle the puck. -Players make their own decisions regarding facial protection. -No instigator penalty. Let the players police themselves. -Head hunting rules in place, however not nearly ridiculously touchy as today's NHL head hunting rules. -Tolerance for a bit more obstruction (Hooking, holding, interference) than today's NHL. -No penalties for "Delay of game" As far as off the ice: -No salary rollbacks on player contracts. Once the deal is done, its done. I don't have many other concrete opinions as to what it should look like off the ice. No greedy owners. No greedy players. Obviously, starting a new hockey league in North America wouldn't be easy. The NHL is the top dog. It'd be hard to compete in cities that have NHL teams. Then again, since those NHL teams are constantly locked out, now would be a great time to give it a shot. Who's in this with me?

Hope you're joking. Decent player, but not even close on an all-time list.
