[Retired] Official Lockout Thread
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
Well, I knew it was inevitable, but I held out hope. Now that its official, let me say this: This is absolutely ridiculous. These idiots have known that this will happen for years now, and they start seriously negotiating 2 weeks before the CBA expires? This is a joke. Unfortunately, the game we all love has been hijacked by greed. Nobody cares about the fans. They can give a s*** less about the fans. If we, the fans, are so worthless, then we should just stop watching and lining these ass holes' pockets. These guys are on the top of the world because of us. If it wasn't for the fans, all of these greedy f uckers would be struggling like the rest of us. The owners want everyone to take salary rollbacks as a result of their own fiscal irresponsibility. Well thats their own fault. The players aren't completely innocent, either. I will not be logging onto NHL.com anymore. I'm not gonna waste my time . I've cancelled my NHL Center Ice subscription. I just don't give a s hit anymore. F uck these greedy pigs. -
Wings to Europe: Tracking which DRW players are playing where

Got some questions. What are the terms of the deal? 1 year? If its a 1-year deal, and the NHL starts back up in say, November, will Detroit have no Pavel Datsyuk? -
Canucks Sign Burrows To Four-Year Extension.

No biggie. I wasn't exactly sure where Garrison would fit in, so I took a guess. Garrison has a cannon, indeed. How many games do you see Aaron Volpatti playing? I doubt he'll be a regular, but I think he could see some spotty 4th line duty. -

I know. The NHL really isn't even considered a "major" sport anymore. From what I've seen and heard, the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NASCAR are all more popular than the NHL. Hell, NCAA football and basketball are right there with the NHL.

Signed Abdeklader signs 4 year extension, $1.8m cap hit
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Aki's topic in General
Well, at least he can beat Max Lapierre. But yes, I agree that he is a lousy fighter. Maybe Tootoo can give him a few pointers. Guy is small but a pretty good fighter. -
Born in Anchorage, Alaska. Some notable players from the area include Brandon Dubinsky, Matt Carle, Joey Crabb, Nate Thompson, and Ty Conklin.

I was planning on hitting a game or two this season, but I'll save the money. This is becoming a joke. Attendance will decrease. I hate to say it, but hopefully there are gobs of empty seats in Detroit when they start back up. Places like St. Louis were just getting their fanbase back, and now I doubt they'll be able to sell out ScottTrade after a month or two of no hockey. BankAtlantic Center in Miami will be totally empty, because there weren't great attendance numbers, anyway. Same goes for Jobing.com Arena in Phoenix. AAC in Dallas. Canadian cities and the Rangers will always sell out, regardless. Neither side benefits from a lockout. The NFL, NBA and MLB are loving it, however.

Signed Wings sign Carlo Colaiacovo to 2 year deal, $2.5m cap hit
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to datterberg1340's topic in General
Hopefully he can stay healthy. He can put up some points and plays physical on occasion. I don't know a ton about his defensive game in his own zone, though. Since it is only a 2-year contract, I don't mind this. I'd cream my pants if Jim Vandermeer signed with Detroit. I don't see anything wrong with carrying 8 defensemen. Get Vandermeer for when someone gets hurt (Because it is basically assumed that Detroit will have injury troubles). -

I don't mind this. Abdelkader is solid defensively and drops the gloves on occasion (Although he's not particularly good at it). -
Thoughts on the current forward lineup
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to X13WINGS13X's topic in General
Jordin Tootoo is a start. Not a big guy, but he'll give us some much-needed sandpaper come playoff time. Hopefully we can get a physical defenseman before the summer is up. A guy like that on the back end will help in the postseason, as well. -
Where Do You Rank Our Defense?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to KrazyGangsta's topic in General
I'd say we're mid-pack at the moment. Kronwall-White Quincey-Ericsson Smith-Kindl Not impressive, but not the worst group out there. When you lose a legend like Nicklas Lidstrom and a reliable 2nd pairing guy like Brad Stuart in the same offseason, the group isn't gonna look nearly as good, regardless of what happens, really. We'll get another defenseman before the season starts, effectively pushing Kindl to the 7th spot. -
True. It's unbelievable that he is already 34 years old. Seems like just yesterday he was our promising rookie back in '02. He'll play here for a few more years and head to Russia to play the remainder of his hockey career. I'm thinking 2 or 3 more years of Pavel Datsyuk in Detroit. That is a scary thought.

Hell no. Emmerton can wear #25 on a different team when we trade him away. 25 will ALWAYS be Darren McCarty.

Vote for the NHL 13 cover player
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to IrishWing19's topic in General
Bettman should be on the cover, with locked doors to the Joe Louis Arena behind him. -
Yeah, I know that every person that states they'll cancel won't do it, but I feel like a good portion will. There have been several petitions signed to not go to games or buy merchandise in the event of a lockout. One of the petitions I saw online yesterday had 20,000 signatures. Of that, I'd say at least 10,000 are serious about it. The dollars lost adds up quick.
-
They'll give a damn about it. In this thread alone, several posters have stated they have cancelled or will cancel their NHL Center Ice subscription. Thousands more will. When they realize the amount of money they're losing, they'll start to care. Don't go to games once they end the lockout. Don't visit NHL.com. We, the fans, are in charge. We're making them millionaires, and we can take that away at any time.

Wings should've paid each player $100 millon each over the course of 13 years and financially strapped the franchise for years to come. Get it together, Ken. Anyhow, Chicago will be moving a defenseman or two. Chicago's got the following players on the blueline: 1. Brent Seabrook 2. Duncan Keith 3. Johnny Oduya 4. Michal Rozsival 5. Nick Leddy 6. Niklas Hjalmarsson 7. Sheldon Brookbank 8. Steve Montador 9. Dylan Olsen

Bruins sign Marchand to four year contract extension.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Bryan Allen signed in Anaheim. Keep in mind that Dallas has Mark Fistric on defense and Jamie Benn up front, in addition to Brenden Morrow and Eric Nystrom. Dallas looks soft, but I think Carolina is the league's softest, at the moment. -

I've wanted Winchester in a Detroit jersey for years. However, we have so many forwards at the moment. We need a depth defenseman. I think Jim Vandermeer is perfect for the job. Still hoping we give him a one-year deal. I can see Winchester or Rosehill going to Carolina. The 'Canes are the softest team in the NHL right now, and they desperately need a scrapper. -
Something tells me many of the world's greatest fans won't be back if something is not done by 9/15.
