Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
The sheer thought of Jody Shelley on your side is enough to draw most free agents to Philly. -
Who is your favorite player from a team besides the Wings?

I knew you'd say Fistric. One of my favorite defensemen. -

Nobody really interests me on Phoenix or Columbus, as far as guys who could be placed on waivers. Again, I don't know a whole lot about Bortuzzo. Supposedly Orpik was on the trade market, but I don't want that dumbaz here. -

Can I just name all the players I like? Its hard to pick one definite favorite. -

Don't know much about Bortuzzo, other than he plays in the Pens' organization. Do you see him playing with the Pens this year, or will he be in WBS? -

He's quietly become on of the better defensemen in the NHL. -

Hannan is still capable of playing a regular roll, so there will be competition for that 3rd pairing spot, which is always good for the team. -
Mark Fistric Re-signs with Dallas

Definitely. Adds some much-needed sandpaper to a soft-looking Dallas team. -

I wouldn't mind him. 1-year, $1mil? John Erskine in Washington doesn't look like he'll get much playing time this year. Wonder if Washington would take a late pick for him. -

We're gonna need a 7th defenseman, and Ken likes to bring in players that are under the radar. Not many people saw the Mike Commodore signing coming last year. There are options besides Vandermeer out there. Who would you like to see us get as a 7th D-man? -
Doan staying in PHX 4 yrs $21.2 mill

I'm hoping Semin doesn't come here. Taking into account that he made $6.7 mil last year, I can't imagine he's gonna take much less than that. He's got talent, but he would be an extremely risky acquisition. -

I've got alot of favorite players, but Neil is at or near the top of my list. Guy can do everything. -

Agreed. Calgary is gonna want a defenseman in return, and I think Kindl is expendable. We can bring Vandermeer in for the year. If not Vandermeer, its been reported that Chicago is looking to deal Steve Montador because they've got a surplus of NHL-calibre defensemen. I think a pick might get that deal done. -

Let Montreal overpay him. He's not a bad player, but he's not 25 anymore. He's got about 2-3 years left in him. -

He'll likely get more of an apportunity in Calgary. I wouldn't mind Bouwmeester. He's not my favorite, and his contract is big, but we need someone on defense to fill the void left by Lidstrom's retirement. -
True. Its been said that Anaheim is looking for a top 6 forward in return. Taking into account that Hartnell has one year left on his contract, he could possibly be part of a deal. Too hard to tell at this moment.

Avs hockey journalist/blogger killed in cinema massacre

The thing I don't get is, here's this madman. He's on a killing spree, shooting everybody and anybody that he feels like, but surrenders to police without any incident? On top of that, he tells them his house has explosives in it? That part of the story doesn't make sense to me. -

To Detroit: Jay Bouwmeester To Calgary: Jakub Kindl Cory Emmerton Pick Sign Jim Vandermeer, and the defense looks like this: Kronwall-Bouwmeester Quincey-White Ericsson-B.Smith Vandermeer I can dig it. -
I still think they're going hard for Ryan. They've got the cap space. Also, Yandle could be a target for them, as well.

Seeing as how Doan supposedly wants a 4-year deal, I don't care where he ends up, as long as it isn't here. -
Let the Bobby Ryan to Philadelphia speculation continue!
-
Right now, we need to be trading bottom 6 guys, not bringing more in. Hopefully he can stick around the NHL, but we don't have room.
-
Why is it Vandermeer OR Erskine? Why not both?

Rick Nash traded to the New York Rangers

The return Columbus got back isn't that horrible. Dubinsky definitely has the tools to score 50 points per year consistently. Won't be a superstar, but I've always liked him. I think he needed a change of scenery. Not sure if Columbus will help, but I guess we'll find out. What does Columbus look like now as far as their potential lineup goes? Umberger-Anisimov-Brassard Foligno-Johansen-Prospal Letestu-Dubinsky-Atkinson Boll-MacKenzie-Dorsett Bass/C.Gillies J.Johnson-Wisniewski Aucoin-Tyutin Nikitin-J.Moore Erixon Steve Mason Sergei Bobrovsky- 127 replies

Not for the contract he has. He's not bad overall. Just not good enough to justify his contract, imo. How would you guys feel about Scott Hannan?
