#5 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
They're definitely trying to make a statement. Pittsburgh wouldn't call MacIntyre up for nothing. Who knows if he'll play another NHL game after tomorrow, if he plays. Who sits for him, though? Joe Vitale? Eric Tangradi? Asham and Adams will likely play. One would assume Shelley will be in Philadelphia's lineup, in addition to Rinaldo. Philly recalled Harry Zolniercyk today, and Giroux has been sick, supposedly. I don't think this will be a game where there is one fight early, and then the game will settle down. I hope Philly beats the hell out of them tomorrow. -
I love Torts. One of the few coaches in the league that will speak his mind. Ridiculous that he got fined at all for it. I hope Pittsburgh gets killed by Philly in the 1st round.

Do Maple Leaf fans deserve better?

Taking into account the complete meltdown the second half of the year, I have to assume Burke will be wheeling guys out of town during the summer. I think he has one more season to put something together, otherwise he will be canned. This isn't the typical in your face team that Brian Burke is known for. Let us recap a little bit and foreshadow possible changes to come over the summer (Because I can't sleep, and frankly, I have nothing else to do at this hour): -Colby Armstrong: Absolute disaster this season. He's been injured for the majority of the year, but he's been invisible when he is in the lineup. He's been a healthy scratch 11 times this year. 3 points in 27 games this year. I have to think he will be sent somewhere, because he is wasting a roster spot at this point. -Mike Komisarek: Severely underperformed, considering the cash he is making. He's been a healthy scratch 15 times this year. He was injured for a stretch of more than 20 games earlier this season, as well. Ever since he got to Toronto, it seems Komisarek has struggled. I think after he signed in Toronto in the summer of 2009, the organization was expecting him to take on a larger role on the team, as opposed to the 3rd pairing shut-down guy he was used to being in Montreal. We have seen how that has worked out. I think he could make a decent 3rd pairing defenseman, but nothing more. I have to believe he will be offered as trade bait over the summer, as well. -Nikolai Kulemin: He's had a disappointing campaign. Coming off last year, where he scored a solid 57 points, his offensive production has dramatically decreased. 28 points, as of right now. I don't think it is too much of a stretch to think Burke may try to package him along with someone else in the pursuit of someone to stick Kessel with. It will be interesting to see what he does with Jay Rosehill and Joey Crabb, as well. I believe they are both free agents at the end of the year. Knowing Burke, he'll probably make a push for George Parros, which may push Rosehill out of the picture. -

That is the knock on St. Louis going into the playoffs. The majority of the guys on their roster are pretty young and inexperienced in the playoffs, with the exceptions of Jason Arnott, Jamie Langenbrunner, and Andy McDonald. I'm looking forward to seeing if these guys can lead the Blues to success. It will be interesting to see how they fare, seeing as how they're near the top of the West. -
Kickass website! Looks good, and hopefully some folks can suggest some more Kronwall hits from the past for you to add on. Don't forget the hit on Miettinen in the '08 playoffs!

I know, there are times when I just break down after reading all of the mindless cussing on here. We're such dickbags, guys. -
I agree, it was a completely clean hit, and it was ridiculous that the brawl started over a clean hockey hit. The game was already over, and I think Laviolette was pissed because Bylsma threw his 4th line out there. You never see him act out like that.

Shouldn't matter who scores the winner. What should matter is that we won. -

He logged off due to the insanely offensive language we tolerate here on LGW. -

I really think Smith should be up right now. Good comeback, nonetheless. -

Nice dive, Backes. ******* *****. Players like that piss me right off. Try to pass themselves off as being a physical, in your face guy, and takes a gloved punch and goes down like he got shot. ******* princess. -

Which is exactly why I'd lose my mind if they had any type of say in anything involved with the Wings! -

I saw a sign during a recent protest I took part in, and I had to run with it. Really witty: Manipulating Of Natural Seeds Advocating Non-nutritional Tyrannical Order Anyhow, I'll have to keep an eye out for the ad during the 2nd, because I never noticed that. Are there any places online that list the corporate sponsors for professional teams/leagues? That would be interesting to take a look at. -

Amway are a bunch of scamsters, but they're not on the same level as Monsanto. To be honest, I'd rather the Detroit Red Wings be sponsored by PETA than by Monsanto. -

I didn't even notice that That makes me hate the Blues even more. If Detroit was ever sponsored by those pieces of s***, I don't know what I'd do. -
He'd be a good replacement for Stuart, in my opinion. He has some puck skills. I've heard Burke may be looking to get rid of him, but I'm not sure he would take Ericsson in return. The one thing I ask of Schenn: Take off the visor when you fight. Its a minor thing, but it bothers the s*** out of me. Heat of the moment thing? I don't mind it, but he seems to fight with it on more often than not. I once thought of a guy like Shane O'Brien as a strictly 3rd pairing defenseman, but he's put up 20 points from the blueline this year, and proved to be pretty defensively solid. He would probably be my first choice as Stuart's replacement. I believe he's a UFA this summer. You could even try to play Smith on the 2nd pairing, knowing O'Brien is used to the 3rd pairing role. Lidstrom-White Kronwall-O'Brien Ericsson/Quincey-Smith Kindl OR Lidstrom-White Kronwall-Quincey Ericsson-O'Brien Kindl/Smith

Hopefully you're joking.. -
I love Homer, and appreciate everything he has contributed to this organization, but I think he needs to hang 'em up after this season. Knowing how honorable this organization is, he'll likely get a job in the front office somewhere. He can definitely still contribute on the powerplay, but he is clearly a liability at even strength. I think we can do better via free agency, and get a grinder with some offensive skills for the 4th line.

Hopefully he'll show up for the playoffs. Yeah, I kind of jumped on the blame Franzen train for the night. 1 shot on net in over 16 minutes of ice time. Should've waved with a hot dog in your hand, maybe you would've got his autograph -

Babcock's after game comments

Babcock sounds like a middle school basketball coach after a practice game. Call the ******* team out, or get the f*** out. Grow a pair of nuts. -

I forgot about that. Same goes for Ericsson. He is so bored by the regular season, he sees no point in clearing the crease and dropping the gloves. Well, with Ericsson's stay at home prowess and Franzen's golden hands coming alive in the playoffs, we should make it out of the first round. -

Fair enough. Right now, I'm doubting we get that far, but that's another discussion.
