If we could do Ryan and Beleskey for Franzen and someone else I'd be ecstatic.

The Official NHL Suspension Thread

Hope to see him get a few games. I like Salo too, and he seemed to be having a healthy season. -
If we can get Anthony Stewart cheap, I wouldn't complain.
-
Nothing. He's loud, obnoxious, and draws attention, so CBC lets him rant for ratings, basically.
-
Had to bump this. Good to see he's getting back on track. As a matter of fact, he's been on fire, 9 points in his last 5 games

Don Cherry makes some good points at times, and then other times he sounds ridiculous. The thing that kills me is Marchand, a "Good ole Canadian kid" throws a clear cheap shot, and Cherry's like "Ah well I love him anyway". Had a Euro thrown that same hit, he would've been calling for a suspension, claiming the game is being ruined by Euros. He rants about rats taking the game over and then proclaims his man love for a piece of s*** like Marchand? Everyone knows my stance on the grit debate. I agree with Cherry there.

Had it been Crosby, he wouldn't have been suspended. Krys Barch is an easy target, being the "useless tough guy" that he is. I guess they're regulating on ice talk now. Get ready for double minors for swearing. 5 minute major if the victim of the bad language has a tear coming out of his eye.

Do Maple Leaf fans deserve better?

Same here. In today's game, there are so many "rats", and they can get away with a lot more than they used to be able to. Sure, rats existed in the '80s and '90s (Ken Linseman, Esa Tikkanen, Ulf Samuelsson, Matthew Barnaby), but they were forced to stand up for their actions, back then, thus keeping the "rat population" in check. Now, the league's rules protect the modern day NHL rats (Matt Cooke, Alex Burrows, Steve Ott, Sean Avery), so there seems to be a lot more guys that lack the common respect for the general safety of the other players, throwing a lot of dangerous hits from behind, and what not, and it is difficult to deter those kind of antics with the instigator rule. Is this the death of the pure enforcer at the NHL level? Who knows right now. I think fighting is down this year partly because of the events that took place in the summer. The game is a lot quicker now, and it does seem like there are only a few pure enforcers ("Goons") that play somewhat regularly at the NHL level: George Parros (20 GP, injured for about a month earlier this season) Eric Boulton (19 GP, was injured for the beginning of the year) Brian McGrattan (25 GP) Darcy Hordichuk (16 GP, injured at the beginning of the season, I believe) Krys Barch (23 GP) Cam Janssen (33 GP) John Scott (20 GP) Kevin Westgarth (19 GP) Matt Carkner (11 GP, missed the first ~20 games of the season with an injury) Guys like Jody Shelley, Colton Orr, Paul Bissonnette, and Steve MacIntyre have been frequent healthy scratches, in favor of guys that will fight, but get around a little better, and put up a point once in a blue moon. Additionally, many former NHL enforcers are stuck in the AHL: Eric Godard D.J King Raitis Ivanans (Just called up by Calgary, but who knows how long until he's demoted, again.) Francis Lessard Matt Walker Trevor Gillies -

http://www.nesn.com/.m/2012/01/henrik-sedin-tired-of-being-asked-about-getting-pushed-around-says-canucks-are-tough-as-anyone.html "Tough as anyone" :rotflmao: Obviously the issue is getting to them if he's reacting that way to the question. Didn't see It anywhere else, so I figured I'd post it. Discuss -

Henrik Sedin's Comments on Vancouver's Toughness

It was painful to type so many s***heads names in a row. I like Salo too, he's got some offensive upside, and he's actually been fairly healthy so far this year. He's played in 36 games, scoring 15 points. Can't believe he's 37 already, though -
Henrik Sedin's Comments on Vancouver's Toughness

Vancouver is packed with divers, major league spot-pickers, and just plain s***heads. These guys, between the diving, the cheapshots, and the whining, are the prime example of what drives many fans away from the game. The NBA-like bitchfest these guys showcase on any given night is painful to watch. Daniel Sedin Henrik Sedin Ryan Kesler Alex Burrows Max Lapierre Kevin Bieksa Keith Ballard That isn't to say that the Canucks don't have some honorable, honest guys, but these guys are often overshadowed by the s***show their fellow teammates put on. Cody Hodgson Manny Malhotra Sami Salo Dale Weise As far as being "tough", we as Wings fans can't say a lot, but Vancouver Is definitely not amongst the league's "toughest" squads. I'd contest that Boston, Dallas, the Rangers, St. Louis, Chicago, and Pittsburgh would run them out of the rink physically. They're gifted offensively, no doubt, but Henrik Sedin's comments are great comedy. -

What ever happened to just a double minor for boarding? Boarding major at the most, here. Gilbert is hurt, and his last name is Carcillo, so all of a sudden people want him gone for 10 games? I can agree with that. I'd just rather he pick out the suspension-worthy hit, suspend him for it, and not wait till he's thrown multiple questionable hits to act. -

gimme a break. Charging? I dislike Torres as much as the next guy, but Shanny picked the wrong hit to suspend him for. -

I'd recommend getting drunk for any game with Brian Billick doing commentary. And hell doesn't freeze over! Whoda thunk it?! -
I was glad to see the refs bury the whistles. They called nothing on Jackman's crosschecks. Fine with me, as long as they didn't call Dats high hit. Nothing wrong with letting 'em play. We won both games, so I don't see what the s***storm is about.
