I despise hot weather. Anything above 70 is too much for me. The person below me is itching to play some outdoor hockey. -

We better keep our heads up tonight. Fistric, Nystrom, Benn, Ott, Burish, and Dowell will all be playing physical and we need to combat them effectively. We've got to get going early, these guys don't lose many games when they lead after the 1st period, and haven't lost a game yet when leading after 2. Finish your checks, drive to the net, and keep your heads up. LGW. -
2011-2012 NHL Fight Thread

Rounds 1&2 between Darcy Hordichuk and Matt Kassian from a few days ago. You don't see Hordi lose many, but Kassian worked him over pretty well in these two. -
The same idea as the hits thread, just to get all fighting videos and talk in one place, so we don't have a ton of different threads about fighting. Keep the conversation peaceful. I'll start with Detroit's Big E: Eric Boulton drops Douglas Murray:

I don't like Staubitz, but this is a great hit. Got the penalty for the extra shots after Matt Martin is one of the league's hardest hitters, imo: -
Meh, I guess.

Regulating trash talk? Dealing out suspensions based on what a ref thought he heard, with no evidence at all? Yikes. Good to see Subban like "Whatever". If Barch is suspended, this opens up doors for minority players to make false accusations of racist remarks, and for the league to jump to conclusions, without any evidence. I'm not supporting racial remarks, I am merely saying everything needs to be settled on the ice. We don't need players going to the league tattling.

They're 1st in the Central by 3 points (Although we have a game in hand), and 2nd in the conference, 1 point behind the Wild. These guys are lights out when they score first. They're a good faceoff team. Their top guns have been stellar: Jonathan Toews: 18-16-34 in 32 GP Patrick Sharp- 17-17-34 in 32 GP Patrick Kane- 8-23-31 in 32 GP Marian Hossa- 14-20-34 in 31 GP Emery and Crawford have proved to be a solid tandem between the pipes. Now, we have yet to play them this year. Do you guys think the Hawks can make a serious run at the Cup this year? I look forward to the games against Chicago as a real test of where we stand against the other top teams in the NHL right now. It will be interesting how we handle their top guns, as well as our ability to combat Chicago's physical bottom 6, which incudes Dan Carcillo, Jamal Mayers, and Bryan Bickell. Thoughts?

That is hockey. Nice to see an old-school game played on Mick's birthday He was lovin' it. When we play with determination like we did tonight, we are a force to be reckoned with, and tonight was a prime example. -

I can dig it. Plays a decent two way game, and isn't afraid to mix it up a little. -
I never directly compared Kronwall to Stevens, more today's NHL to the NHL of the past, as far as having to answer for every hit, whether its clean or not.

They used to have some respectable players (Trevor Linden and Brendan Morrison come to mind). Bieksa acting tough is beyond humorous, seeing as how he has fought Patrick Marleau and Viktor Stalberg last year. Fought Brandon Dubinsky at the beginning of this year, and made some kinda gesture after an uneventful fight. -

Not quite at that stage in life yet The person below me posts on LGW every day. -
If Scott Stevens had to answer for every hit he made, he would've hit a million penalty minutes. Kesler is a joke. He's not from Detroit. I refuse to believe it.

This is the kind of s*** that is literally ruining the game. Whining and bitching after a good hit. Kesler claiming Kronwall should have to stand up for himself after a clean hit. How about this Ryan: keep your ******* head up and refrain from staring at the puck like the kids do in peewee, and you wont get drilled like that. Running your mouth with absolutely no intent to back it up. Kesler and Bieksa are both spotpicking little pieces of s***. This s*** drives me nuts. Bieksa: "Its so sneaky". No s***. Waddya want, a "heads up" from the opposing player? ******* pansees. Take a hit and play the god damn game. -

As Wings fans, I think we'll have to take It easy on the LOLongo jokes. Anyhow, I love how consistent goaltender interference is called. Seems every other time a goalie is touched, a call is made. Jim gets ran over, "Play on, boys". Formulate a concrete definition and consistently make the call. The Kronwall hit warrants no suspension. Leaves his feet, yes. Head is not the principle point of contact, and does not lead with the elbow. Love how Kesler gets up ready to go because he knows the refs won't let him. Weird how he never went back after Kronwall after the whole deal. I'll be beyond pissed if this hit is ruled a suspendable hit. Seems if there Is ANY type of major collision, there is a penalty and/or suspension, regardless of how clean the hit is. White is a badass. Gets smoked in the head with the puck. Doesn't miss a shift. That is Red Wings hockey. Wonder if he'll switch to the visor for good now? Doesn't seem to be willing. -

Sami Salo is okay. I don't mind Andrew Alberts, either. Manny Mallhotra and Dale Weise aren't total dickbags. Other than them, that team is the ultimate collection of diving, spot-picking pieces of s*** not named the San Jose Sharks. -
Quebec culture minister upset at Habs

I took 6 years of French in middle and high school, and just completed a french course in college. I think the Quebecois give the French a bad name. In Paris, they're much more welcoming and tolerant of tourists. I've been to Montreal on a class trip, and we literally got mocked at one of the local restaurants we went into. We didn't speak fluent french, so one of the workers started blabbing some broken english. She proceeded to yell to what appeared as the manager "Ils ne parle francais." (Meaning "They don't speak french"). The manager came up to the cash register and was a complete tool about taking our orders, "slowly" repeating our orders back to emphasize how much of an inconvenience we were causing at an otherwise dead reataurant. Needless to say, we left no tip. Anyway, these kind of comments coming from the french-canadians don't surprise me. Sure, they're not all like that, but still. If it was up to them, every player on the team would be required to speak fluent french, as well as all coaches. Obviously, fans will look up to players from the surrounding area, but not liking someone based on what language they speak or where they were born is ridiculous. Also, maybe the government should be worrying about the bigger problems in Quebec, as opposed to regulating the language the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens speaks. The fact that they even released a statement about it pisses me off.
