Veterans Players Choosing to Wear visors/ Younger Players Going Withou
Bring Back The Bruise Bros posted a topic in General
I've noticed some veteran players are deciding to wear a visor. Paul Gaustad of the Sabres has donned one. Jason Arnott of the Blues is wearing one. Jarret Stoll of the Kings is wearing one, saying his wife finally convinced him. Both Steve Ott and Adam Burish of the Stars have chosen to wear one. It will be interesting to see if these guys are just testing them out, or if they plan to wear one for the remainder of their careers. On the flip side, Wayne Simmonds of the Flyers has decided to ditch his. Nikita Nikitin of the Blues is going without one. Brenden Morrow of the Stars, who wore one last year after a facial injury, has decided to ditch his. Our Johan Franzen is playing without one again. Last year, he played the playoffs with one on. Just interesting to see the older guys finally try them out, and the younger guys, who have played most of their hockey careers with one, deciding to go without one. Anyone notice other players who have switched? -
I wonder if he'll stick with the visor from here on out. He's never wore one for a long period of time before.

I wouldn't be upset if Stuart left after this year. I can understand that he wants to be closer to his family, and family ultimately overrides hockey. He's looked sluggish this year. He's been a big part of our defense since he was acquired in '07/'08, but I think there are better options out there. If Lidstrom retires after the season, and Stuart leaves to be closer to his family, and Commodore is let go for another #7 defenseman, the defense will look a lot different. Too early to accurately predict anythingobviously, but I'll throw this out there: X-Kronwall X-White Ericsson-Kindl X/Smith Possible replacements for Lidstrom: Ryan Suter Shea Weber (Long-shot, but still) Possible replacements for Stuart: Tim Gleason Sheldon Souray Adrian Aucoin Willie Mitchell Cory Sarich Possible replacements for Commodore: Jim Vandermeer Bryan Allen Sheldon Brookbank Shane O'Brien Suter-Kronwall Gleason-White Ericsson-Kindl O'Brien

I can agree with that on Abby. Yeah Kindl got smoked, but at least he stuck up for himself. Would've liked to see Benn go with Ericsson. Wonder when Commodore gets back in the lineup. -

He's just not cut out to be a regular scrapper. I think he needs to stick to the offensive part of his game. I don't mind him fighting here and there, but he needs to develop his skills with the puck. -

Good to see we got the win, unfortunately I was unable to catch the game. How did we look, overall? What happened to White? I take it Kindl got decked by Benn? -
A move by Columbus was inevitable. Nikita Nikitin goes to Columbus in return.

When he decides to play hockey, he's effective. The fans absolutely adore him.

Dude you can't stop, I lol every time I see them. Eventually, one will be so kickass I'm gonna have to quote it for my sig. Keep it up. -
This thread has really made me realize how much I enjoy listening to Mickey Redmond do color commentary. Red Wings hockey on Fox Sports Detroit will never be the same once he decides it is his time. Long live Mickey!!

The best part of that video is Mick's chuckle at the end -

Yeah, I just watched it. Clean hit on Paajarvi, and Abs is forced to answer. -

We haven't looked too bad. The officiating has been fair. We've been able to keep Hall, Eberle, and Nugent-Hopkins quiet. Also, I don't like Abdelkader's chances against Peckham, but I'd love to be proved wrong. -

I don't think Dorsett is a horrible fighter. Not the best in the league, but he's not Tom Kostopoulos. He can skate and provide a little bit of offense, as well. -

I can see Tyutin being moved. Would they move Nash? Not likely, but they're not done shaking things up. How about Derek Dorsett to Detroit for Drew Miller? Cory Emmerton? -
I think many fans wrote Dallas off when Richards left. Lehtonen has looked solid. Sheldon Souray has looked great, with 13 points and a +11 through 14 games. I've said it before and I'll continue to say it, Jamie Benn is the real deal, folks. 18 points so far. Loui Eriksson continues to produce. Eric Nystrom has scored 4 goals in the last 5 games. Another gamble that has paid off for the Stars. Everything is going well for them right now. The real test will be: How will they respond to adversity?
