Bertuzzi is wearing a visor? Just for precaution? -
Yeah, but I still gave the nod to Konopka. League leader in penalty minutes, so far.

Didn't watch the game the other night, this was a solid hit: Mark Fistric is quickly becoming one of the better hitters in the NHL. -

From earlier tonight. Not much of a fight, but Dorsett continues to pile on the penalty minutes. Jared Boll made his return tonight. Looking forward to seeing how his mechanics are after the thumb injury. -

...and Hudler claimed he trained in UFC. Can't believe we bought that -
Maybe that badass old school Pronger couldn't see the defense quite right with that visor on

Nine Athletes who Excelled at Being Average

Maybe its because when I was growing up, guys like McCarty, Draper, Maltby, Kocur, and Lapointe were such instrumental parts to our success, but I find myself liking the "grinders" and "role players" and "enforcers" more than the "stars". They don't get the publicity that the star players get, but their role is just as important. When I look at teams like Washington, many will admire Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Green. I always find myself liking guys like Jason Chimera and Matt Hendricks. It's not that I don't like watching guys like Kane and Toews make amazing plays and split defenses, but I appreciate the guys like Carcillo and Bickell, who work just as hard (if not harder), and don't get nearly the appreciation from the media. Not so say the media hates grinders, but they are often left in the shadows. -

I met McGrattan after a Syracuse Crunch game last year, and spoke to him for a few moments. At the time, he hadn't played a regular season game in the NHL the whole year. When I asked him if he thought he could land a job in the NHL next year, he told me there's always GMs that want tough guys, but its a matter of if the guy can skate a regular shift or not. He's my favorite NHLer, and I'm real glad he's found a place back in the NHL. He's a real easy-going guy. Got a picture with him. -

Dan Carcillo's first fight as a Hawk: Zac Rinaldo is starting to grow on me. Decent scrap here: -
Good to see Carcillo step up last night. Wasn't much of a fight between him and Volpatti, but he was in the middle of things.

Doesn't surprise me coming from Nazarov. What a joke. He was always the NHL's punching bag. -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftSjzma64us&feature=player_detailpage Tarnasky sure is a tough customer pounding on Jamie Lundmark. If i remember correctly, Tarnasky got smacked around pretty good when he played over here in the NHL for a couple years. Guess he couldn't take it. I'd like to see Yablonski take on someone from over here, instead of going after a respected veteran in Sandis Ozolinsh. Even as a self-confessed fight slappy, this is the kind of s*** i hate to see. Mirasty never smirked like that when he was over here. These guys on Vityaz do nothing but run the goalies and pound on a bunch of little euros. Absolute disgrace.

Time for Carcillo to step up tonight. He had quite a bit to say about Vancouver over the summer. I don't wanna see him hiding behind Mayers and O'Donnell.
-
Datsyuk is hilarious. From what I understand, Homers got a great sense of humor, as well.

I only got to see the second half of the third. I assume we looked pretty good the first 2.5? Saw Franzen shot the puck more. How did Commodore look? -
If only he knew when to shoot the puck! He'd score 700-800!!!!

f*** you Bring Back the Bruise Bros. Quick suggesting we get a fighter that can score from time to time and be happy that Hudler had UFC training over the summer. Wings fans are so spoiled.
