I'm afraid those days are coming to an end, good man. Granted, not all players embellish hits and fake injuries like Semin did the other night, but its not a complete rarity. Weren't they cracking down on diving a few years back? I wish we saw more dives being called for minor penalties.

It could get Hudler outta town!

Give him a break.

I think the Habs player lowered his head. Hopefully Shanny recognizes that. Edit: Just saw p.marlowe's link. Good non-call by Shanny -

Now that the Tigers have shut the Yankees down, i'm able to give my undivided attention to the Wings -
It was nothing noteworthy.

People are already calling for a suspension for Alex Edler for his hit on Taylor Hall tonight. Any time the head is even touched, there is so much outcry.

Helm looked really good, Abdelkader was solid. Exelby was fairly physical. He could be a defensive call-up. Ericsson looked shaky. Big surprise. -
That's what they said after the Kurtis Foster incident.

If anyone could post a stream, it would be greatly appreciated. Its always a pain in the ass for me to find a solid stream. -

TSN is reporting 2 regular season games. Many other suspensions have included the remainder of the preseason, so i'm a little puzzled by this, as well. -

He's a face-off specialist. Obviously we like something about him. -

Fair enough. It's a play MacArthur didn't have to make. 2 game suspension seems to follow the pattern of the crack down. It's 2 regular season games, reportedly. So hopefully we see MacArthur and Abby settle it tonight -

I know what you mean, but at the same time, would you agree Abby practiced his salesman abilities on that one a little bit? -

That's all you watch hockey for is the fighting? -

Those "useless scrubs" on Toronto's 4th line made us look pretty bad tonight. -
NHL will Look into Fighting: Shanahan

The thing is, nobody is being forced to fight. Guys that fight know the potential consequences. Something like 98% of NHLers feel fighting has a place in the game. The thing that i could see happening is some type of rule being implemented where the player's helmets have to stay on during the fight or some s***. Once the helmet comes off, the refs step in. I don't really see any reason to try and regulate fighting in the NHL, because there is no clear tie between fighting and the deaths of Rick Rypien, Derek Boogaard, and Wade Belak. It was documented before Rypien's death that he had psychological issues. Boogaard had drug problems. A 5 minute penalty is fine for a fight. -
You can bet Winchester will want a re-match. One of 3 fights in the game. Ballard/McGinn was a visorfest. Todd Fedoruk and Jim Vandermeer had a decent scrap. I've got to say, i'm really pulling for Fedoruk. He knows the only way he can make the Canucks roster is by fighting. We all know he doesn't want to, after sustaining the facial injuries that he has. I believe he has the most fighting majors so far this preseason. This guy really has heart. Vancouver lost a good amount of grit over the summer with the departures of Tanner Glass and Rick Rypien. Fellow 4th line hopeful Owen Nolan was released last week I believe.

I've always liked O'Donnell, and I think most NHLers agree with him on this subject. It would be interesting to hear from another seasoned vet on the respect among NHLers now compared to the 80s and 90s. -
Speaking of the Leafs, what is Colton Orr's situation? Is he looking healthy? Free of concussion symptoms?

Ben Smith clearly put himself in that position. There was definitely contact to the head, but players have to be responsible for protecting themselves. I don't think it warrants a suspension, but the way it is getting called, its inevitable. I'd be upset to see any more than 2 games. Sounding like it will be more. It wasn't malicious. He didn't skate a path from the other end of the ice to drill him. Ben Smith zigged when he should of zagged and got hit. -

In essence, yes I feel a minor penalty is enough, though. It's not like Neil rushed down ice and cranked him. Was it intentional? Absolutely, but Grabovski returned soon after that. I just don't wanna see this get out of control, where we see every little incident suspended.
