    Official Detroit Lions thread

So its been a while. Once the whole lockout drama started I completely tuned it all out. About time we got things settled. Now to brush up on my NFL. What exactly is our main priority this offseason in Detroit? Has to be the offensive line, correct?

    RFA/UFA Signings

Mark Fraser re-signs with New Jersey. Ryan Callahan re-signs with the Rangers. Do they need to move guys now? They have to be over the cap.

Pardon me, but I don't remember asking for your opinion.

    RFA/UFA Signings

Byron Bitz signs one year deal with Vancouver. Another guy to compete for a 4th line spot. Burrows-Sedin-Sedin Kesler-Sturm-Samuelsson Lapierre-Hansen(?)-Higgins ?-Malhotra-? Seemingly, Victor Oreskovich, Byron Bitz, and Mike Duco may compete for the final 2 spots on the 4th line. Anyone think Hodgson will make the permanent jump this year to the NHL?

i'm not that bad! Talking to a few friends yesterday I was labeled a conspiracy theorist, so I figured i'd toss it out there on LGW and see what anyone thought

    Doc Emrick leaves devils

Classic. I know he does a few games for Vesus (in the spring iirc). Guy has a great vocabulary. Sometimes i'll watch Stars games just to listen to him

Great post. Thanks for putting the time into that reply. People get tired of talking about it, but I don't feel people realize what's really going on, and i'm glad you seem to have your "eyes wide open" on the situation.

    Doc Emrick leaves devils

Unfortunately, Pierre isn't going anywhere soon. I always felt Steve Levy had a good voice for play by play, as well.

I miss the broadcast team of Gary Thorne and Bill Clement

Has anyone noticed what they are doing in Sunrise, FL?

On paper, they look alright. But as we all know, nothing ever works out in Sunrise.

Why are people who question what the government tells us labeled as conspiracy theorists?

    Draper or Hudler?

Leino had 7 points in 42 games in 09/10 before he was traded. He was given top 6 ice time. Guy wouldn't play any defense, forecheck, or show any hustle at all. I think that defines "just not working here". If he was playing solely on the 4th line without any chances of playing with our top dogs, that would be one thing. He, as Hudler, was given opportunity after opportunity here. Draper knows his role, and he's good at it.
  16. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Draper or Hudler?

Exactly. I feel if he is given a change of scenery, he could find his game. Some players just don't work out here.
  17. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Draper or Hudler?

Draper's awful? Still fast and a decent penalty killer? Good on draws?
  18. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Doc Emrick leaves devils

I'm likely in the minority here, but I like Doc. He's a bit repetitive, but to me he's that guy that's been calling games as long as you've been alive, and you'd like to see him stick around just because he's got so much experience. If I had it my way, Gary Thorne would be back doing NHL games. That guy was great.

    RFA/UFA Signings

Brandon Dubinsky re-signs with the Rangers for 4 years. A little over $4 mil/year. Not sure how much cap space they have to work with, but i'm thinking Ryan Callahan re-signs and they buy out Wojtek Wolski ($3.8 mil cap hit). Gaborik-Richards-Anisimov Dubinsky-Callahan-Stepan Avery-Christensen-Fedotenko Prust-Boyle-Rupp Zuccarello Staal-Girardi McDonagh-Del Zotto(?) Sauer-Eminger(?) UFA If Steve Eminger will be back next year, it will be at a paycut. Tim Erixon could possibly find a spot on the 3rd pairing. I'm thinking Sather will go after a cheap veteran defenseman to fill in when injuries occur. I wouldn't be surprised to see the return of Jason Strudwick. Shane Hnidy and Nick Boynton are still available, as well.

Solid move by Kenny. Welcome back, Ty.

    RFA/UFA Signings

Chicago has agreed to allow Chris Campoli walk, as opposed to an arbitration hearing. Mark Bell has signed a one year deal with Anaheim. Lauri Korpikoski and Teddy Purcell re-sign for 2 years with Phoenix and Tampa, respectively. Patrick Lalime retires, will work for RDS.

Is this a baby video of Sidney Crosby?

Take it easy. If you read my reply, I said I realized I probably missed a few.
  23. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    RFA/UFA Signings

Kyle Chipchura signs one year deal with Phoenix. Solid center to bolster their 4th line. Andrew Murray signs one year deal with San Jose. Could possibly be a 4th line center next year. Both Andrej Sejera and Matt Ellis re-sign with Buffalo.

    Bring Back Ozzie!!!

    Chris Osgood announces retirement

I never thought i'd see it since I started watching hockey, Ozzy has been a part of this organization(Besides his short journeys in St. Louis and Long Island). Thanks for everything you've contributed to the organization, Oz. Guy always seemed like a class act and a great guy off the ice. In my opinion, #30 should be in the rafters at the Joe. He could be one of the most underrated goaltenders of all-time. That said, he was never the flashiest. He never blew you away with the stats. He just got s*** done. Bottom line. His jersey is next on my wish list. Best of luck the rest of the way, Ozman. You will be missed in Hockeytown and by Red Wings fans all over the world. Good to see he is sticking around with the organization. Seriously gonna look for an Ozzy chant ringtone
