    Chicago's Getting Meaner

Haha. You seem to like putting words in my mouth. I never said that physicality doesn't matter in today's NHL. I said guys like Carcillo, O'Donnell and Mayers don't. The guys you always put on your lists can't seem to crack NHL rosters. If any of them played last year, why are they not signed yet? And maybe some of them will be. But even then, will they make any kind of impact? Likely not. I would be more worried about the Hawks if they got Andrew Ladd back. A real player who can impact a game with his offense and toughness. A guy who elevates his game in the playoffs. Even John Madden would be a better impact than Carcillo, Mayers and O'Donnell. O'Donnell used to be a valuable guy on a 3rd pair. But how old is he? 38? 39? The game is fast and he can't keep up anymore. Signing guys who barely play does not make a team tougher. It makes them weaker because they cannot match up depth wise with other teams. I will take Helm, Eaves, Abdelkader and Miller over your TOUGH Hawks players any day. The Hawks will not be more physical than last year. Brouwer played in their top 6 and Campbell was a top 4 dman. He logged a ton of minutes in even strength, short handed and power play. Montador is not going to replace that. He is a 3rd pair dman. Carcillo is not going to replace Brouwer. Mayers is not going to replace kopecky. Wow I can't believe I gave Kopecky a compliment. That is how useless Mayers is. What will he do? Scare teams with his stupid eyebrows? O'Donnell has a Cup ring but he should be retired. Good for him to find a team still willing to give him a paycheck. They still have Jake Scott. Heck of a player he is. How many minutes did he play last year? Not much. But hey he's tough! Well Konopka signed with Ottawa earlier. He was on the list. Nichol signed with St. Louis earlier. He was on the list. But hey, they must be washed up has beens that won't crack the lineup, right? I never said Ladd or Madden were less valuable than Mayers and Carcillo. I think O'Donnell was a good signing for them on an otherwise young blueline. Nothing wrong with bringing a veteran in. Never said Mayers was an essential part to their roster. Again, I will ask you: If NHL teams found guys like John Scott to be a waste, would they keep him around? Would they? Obviously he serves some purpose if they are keeping him around, correct? Now, before you claim I believe John Scott is the next Gretzky, I realize he's not gonna score 50 goals, but he serves a purpose on the team.

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

There is definitely a list. You asked me where the list is and I told you. Of course it isn't in this thread. I made it a few days ago. You implied that physicality did not matter in today's NHL, which is far from true. If physicality had no place in today's NHL, how would guys like John Scott and George Parros have contracts? Of course Hatcher couldn't play after the lockout, he was built for the pre-lockout NHL. The 2010 Championship team has nothing to do with this thread. Again, this thread is about the Hawks acquiring physical players, not championship teams of the past. They're meaner because Brouwer and Campbell are gone, and Carcillo, O'Donnell, Mayers, and Montador are in. They will be more physical, not saying they will be a better overall team. I'm not popping my balloon. I'm just fine. Thanks for checking

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

There's no said list? You seemed to have seen it somewhere, otherwise you wouldn't have made any comments about it, correct? In the RFA/UFA signings thread, like a page back. What other "argument" is there other than the Hawks are meaner? I'm not saying anything else, i'm saying they're meaner, that's it. I don't know where you're getting this other "argument" from. I never said they didn't have physical players last year, did I? They will be meaner this year with the acquisitions of Dan Carcillo, Steve Montador, Sean O'Donnell, and Jamal Mayers, along with the losses of Brian Campbell and Troy Brouwer. It matters because THATS WHAT THE TITLE OF THE THREAD IS. You said the acquisition of physical players would matter if this were the year 1996. If teams felt that physicality didn't matter in hockey anymore, guys like Zenon Konopka wouldn't get contract offers. This thread is about the Hawks acquiring more physical players. You're the one who brought up the Championship team, which has nothing to do with Chicago's offseason acquisitions. I'm sorry, did I hurt your feelings? You seem to be dwelling on that. Keep the discussion on topic, THIS THREAD IS ABOUT THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS ACQUIRING PHYSICAL PLAYERS, therefore I am keeping this on topic.

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

Whoa, you seem to be moving away from the "argument" at hand. Didn't all of the players on my list play on NHL teams last year? And did you sound out the title of the thread? This is a discussion about the Hawks, not necessarily the Wings. Why are you ignoring my counter "arguments" that you claim I don't have. Seems you have no logical "argument" but to point out I called you a troll, hm?

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

Aw, the juvenile "No, I won the argument!" comeback. Every player on my fabulously concocted list played on NHL teams last year, so I don't know where you're getting minor leaguers from, maybe its for the sake of "Winning" the "argument"? I'm quite positive this thread is about the Hawks, is It not? Sound the title out, I have faith in ya.

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

What's wrong? "Lose" the "argument", now you've got nothing to say?
  7. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

Not gettin' a toughness list. You've lost the privilege. I never said we couldn't beat the Hawks, I just said they're more physical, keep tryin tho

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

How did I "lose" the argument? This isn't a competition, it's a discussion. Quite juvenile, young chap.

Red Wings / Griffins sign Exelby, Pyett

:carrot: Always liked Exelby. He'll play most of the year in GR, unless injuries come up obviously.

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

If you have nothing to contribute to the thread, don't post. You do nothing but troll every thread on this forum. And no, now that I know you can't wait for the list, i'm gonna hold off on posting it.

Do Maple Leaf fans deserve better?

    I was thinking Shayne Churla.
  12. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

That has nothing to do with what I was talking about, good try though. This thread is about the Hawks acquisition of more physical players. I never said they were gonna be any better than last year, they're just getting meaner. Nuff said

    Chicago's Getting Meaner

If it didn't matter anymore, these types of guys wouldn't be getting offers at all.

    Andrew Cogliano

I heard they were trying to buy Wolski out. I think Brian Boyle is a very underrated player. He's very well-rounded, and the Rangers would be making a big mistake by letting him go. Avery would be interesting, no doubt. If he would just stick to playing hockey, he would be a decent player.

    Andrew Cogliano

He's quick, but he's so streaky. He looked decent in his rookie year, but hasn't developed much since. I wonder if Brandon Dubinsky is available, since Sather lured Richards to MSG. I'm not sure how much cap space they have, but do they have enough to re-sign Dubinsky, Callahan, Anisimov, and Boyle?

    RFA/UFA Signings

I believe Hudler will be moved eventually. I don't mind Miller, as he is a key part of our penalty kill. Darcy Hordichuk signed with Edmonton. Rick Rypien signed with Winnipeg yesterday. Holland usually gets a scrapper right before the pre-season and gives them a shot, although they tend to get released or go to the minors. Brian McGrattan has really improved his game over the last year. He played for the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL last year and his skating has significantly improved. I met him at the end of the AHL regular season, and he said he expects to have a spot on an NHL roster come next year. Hopefully all the scrappers find somewhere to play

    RFA/UFA Signings

I'd rather see a younger guy signed as a depth forward to kill penalties and take draws, opposed to an older guy like Drury. Konopka is up there on my list, although its unlikely to happen. Jake Dowell signed with Dallas today. There are still many gritty guys available: Zenon Konopka (As mentioned) Eric Boulton (Still expecting him to re-sign with Winnipeg) Kyle Chipchura Brian Sutherby Brad Winchester Eric Godard Brian McGrattan David Koci Cam Janssen Steve MacIntyre Jarkko Ruutu Ethan Moreau Scott Nichol Troy Bodie Adam Mair Zack Stortini (Huggy Bear) Aaron Voros Chris Clark J-F Jacques Brandon Segal

Darcy Hordichuk agrees to terms with Edmonton. Happy he found a new home, does this mean MacIntyre is available?
