Ehrhoff's rights traded to NYI, then traded to Buffalo
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Travis's topic in General
Stick to Wisniewski to take Rafalski's spot. Ehrhoff had a mediocre finals at best. Wouldn't be surprised if he was grossly overpaid (Edmonton). I wouldn't be overly upset if Jovanovski replaced Salei, although i'd like to see us get younger. What are everyone's thoughts on Kent Huskins? -
That's why I didn't even get excited about Pitkanen, I knew he wasn't going anywhere. He is the anchor of Carolina's defense.

The Fourth Period is actually quite reliable.. -

True, although I would like to see us get younger, if possible. I wouldn't be upset if we got him, because he's still got some offensive touch and plays hard defensively. Wisniewski and Bieksa seem like the only guys capable of taking on Rafalski's role (I believe Erhoff will stay in Vancouver) Pitkanen would be interesting, but i'm not sure we have a ton of interest there. Has Ken mentioned him? Ian White wouldn't be a terrible acquisition for Salei's spot. I don't feel Kaberle is defensively responsible enough to be an effective part of the defense, although he has some offensive touch. -
He'll probably only play 100 games over the next 3 years. When he's healthy, he's a force to be reckoned with. Too bad he's never healthy.

Wouldn't be surprised if Philly lured Zenon Konopka to replace Dan Carcillo, who was a major disappointment last year. I think Philly is far from done re-tooling. I can't understand how you sign a guy to a huge ******* contract and trade him away right after. Not to mention, he was the captain.. Something must have really been wrong, whether off-ice issues or something else. You don't see captains signed to long term deals randomly dealt like that often.

Although they've locked up Hal Gill and essentially Markov, the Habs blue line still could look a little different next year. I doubt Paul Mara is offered a contract by Montreal. Is Josh Gorges a free agent?

Wings unlikely to sign Osgood/Draper
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Doc Holliday's topic in General
Exactly. I feel we should (especially this summer, since the cap space is available) look into a younger forward who will be a part of the future nucleus of this team (Brooks Laich), rather than continuously going after guys who will be a part of the team for a year and depart afterwards. To be fair, the pickins are slim this year, but I believe we can trade for a younger top 6 forward. -
Well they do need to fill up some cap space. Not sure whether Edmonton is tossing his name around or not.

No, No, NO! Jagr interested in Detroit.

Lidstrom agrees to 1-year, $6.2m contract

Anytime he's within a 50 mile radius of a sheet of ice, yes. -
I knew that one was coming! but correct you are!

85% of the players in the league qualify for that job

Wings unlikely to sign Osgood/Draper
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Doc Holliday's topic in General
Glad someone else realizes it, too. I'm tired of seeing us sign these old guys to one year contracts. This team needs to get younger. Don't get me wrong, a few veterans are essential for a team to compete for the Cup. I don't want Jagr here. I don't want Salei here. I don't want Modano here. I wouldn't mind too much if Osgood and Draper retired. Time to move on. We need to be looking at the future here. Sometimes I think we take the loyalty thing a little too far. -
You know what, you're right. Bring Brett Lebda back, Ken

Briana Lee, my friend. Anyhow, Lids at $6.2 is an absolute steal. He isn't really showing any major signs of declining. Welcome back, and congrats on another Norris! -
Derian Hatcher.

Who would be your cup of tea, good sir? -

I just don't think he works out HERE. In another system elsewhere? There's a possibility. Look at Leino. He's thriving in Philly and is due for quite a raise. Some players just plain don't work out in particular systems. He's had plenty of chances here though, and we both know that.

$7-10 million. Teams would line up, too. Just for a one year contract. It would be like asking guys how much they'd be willing to pay Marissa Miller for a night of fun. -
Everyone's got their favorite players, but i've never seen anything like it. I'll admit if John Erskine was on this team, i'd try to sneak him on the 1st pairing with Lidstrom when I compile my lines!
-
At the right price, also. Vandermeer, for what role he plays, has quite the salary. Over $3 mil, iirc? Yeah Harrison re-signed for 2 years, $1.4 mil. Strudwick may just retire. Didn't get much playing time in Edmonton last year. Hopefully someone gives him a chance, though.
