    Changes in the offseason

What's wrong with someone competing with Murs(a)k for a roster spot in camp? (Incorrect spelling is the cruise control of cool on the internet.)

What do you want from a DEPTH FORWARD?

    Changes in the offseason

J-F Jacques as a depth forward, anyone? Physical presence, a bit of offensive upside.

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski

With Frolov going to the KHL and Prospal likely to go elsewhere, it seems somewhat realistic. They've got a few guys to re-sign (Dubinsky and Callahan) but they'll still have room after they lock those two up.

    Changes in the offseason

Edmonton has a few interesting players. Ryan Jones and Jim Vandermeer are both set to become UFAs July 1st, but both reportedly intend to stay in Edmonton. Theo Peckham will a RFA, i'm not sure if the Oilers want to keep him around, or if they will listen to trade proposals.

    bottom pairing FA's

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Tyson Strachan. He's got some NHL experience(29 games with the Blues last year). I think there are better options out there for a 3rd pairing defenseman, though.

    Question about Carcillo

I really liked him earlier in his career when he was in Phoenix. He fought anyone, and showed some serious offensive upside. Gretzky loved him during his coaching tenure there. He's more of an agitator now, and he hasn't really developed the offensive part of his game. I don't think the Flyers bring him back. I hope he finds a home somewhere this summer, but it won't be here. Our main concern isn't up front this offseason. Maybe a depth signing or two, but Carcillo is far too unscrupulous out there to fit into our system of play.

    Kyle Okposo re-signs with Islanders

Reportedly 5 years worth $14 million. Okposo scored 20 points in an injury-ridden 38 game season. The Islanders are slowly building a solid nucleus. They've got Grabner locked in long term, now Okposo, not to mention Tavares and Moulson. The future is looking bright for the Islanders. Discuss.

    Changes in the offseason

I'd love to have him here. Good defensive defenseman. I wasn't sure if he was available this summer or not. He won't want a ton of money. To be honest with you, I really hope Ericsson gets overpaid and leaves. There are so many better options out there and he clearly hasn't panned out here. Hell no to Gagne and Zherdev. Gagne won't play in more than 60 games and Zherdev is far too defensively irresponsible and offensively inconsistent to thrive here.

    Kris Draper

Nobody would be "on your nuts" if you didn't make ridiculous comments. *Draper's career is over, he can't skate anymore and all the people that think he should be re-signed are homers!!!!!!!* What do you think is gonna happen when you make comments like that?

Doug Weight announces retirement after 19 NHL Seasons

Veteran Detroit-born center Doug Weight has announced his retirement from the great game we all love. He hoisted the Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2005-2006 season. Weight recorded 278 goals, 755 assists, for a total of 1,033 points over 1,238 games. Amazing seeing all of these guys we've grown up with dropping like flies

    Kyle Okposo re-signs with Islanders

They're looking to lock up Josh Bailey and Blake Comeau long term as well. Wang seems to be piecing together the puzzle, finally. Not looking like Zenon Konopka will be brought back, and Trevor Gillies is a toss up. If Gillies is brought back, it will only be on a one year contract, possibly a 2 way deal.

    Role Players

I'd go after Mike Rupp before Talbot. Rupp scored 17 points in 81 games. I read somewhere that both Talbot and Rupp are Pittsburgh's high off-season priorities, so I doubt either is going anywhere.

Doug Weight announces retirement after 19 NHL Seasons

Two U.S. Hockey legends down in one week, ouch. With Modano soon to follow, U.S. Hockey has taken quite the hit

    Changes in the offseason

So it doesn't look like Salei will be back next year. Adam Pardy, anyone? I wouldn't mind Ladislav Smid, either. I believe he's a UFA July 1st, could be mistaken.

    Kris Draper

How do you figure his career is over? He's still one of the faster and defensilvely responsible skaters in the NHL. Also, Mr. GM, how would you handle this situation?
  17. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Kris Draper

Gimme a break. He was one of our more solid contributors in the playoffs. I think a 2 way deal is fair, but at the same time, he has proved he still has plenty left in the tank, so maybe as an extra forward, depending on what we do with Hudler, Miller and Eaves.

Why no team is likely to offer sheet Doughty, Weber, or Parise

Any other ******* threads about Weber and Doughty?

    Changes in the offseason

Read an article in the Free Press claiming that Salei likely won't be back. His family is in California, and he wants to be closer to them, understandably. So it's looking like west coast team or retire for him.

Smith to be on Wings next season?

No. let him grab top minutes in GR, gain experience, and maybe a few games at the end of the season. Let him mature one more year, then bring him up.

    Classiest Players

How has nobody mentioned Ryan Hollweg?

    Reeds v. Gallant: the rematch.

Other guys that come to mind are Claude Loiselle, Randy Ladoceur, and Warren Young as well. Teams were terrified to play Detroit back then, but things change. Who knows, maybe we'll head back in that direction some time.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

What you did there, I see it.

gritty players I would like the wings to sign

I think he meant among others, Upshall and Tardif are realistic. I dont think he meant they're the only two realistic ones.

    Jonathan Ericsson Appreciation Thread

Hopefully someone throws a fat contract at him and he bites. Clearly, he isn't working out. Held out hope for a while, but he's gotten a ton of chances to prove himself, and..well hasnt.
