No I agree. We needed to score on that late 2nd period powerplay.
-
LOL....guys....the worst part about that wasn't that it was a penalty in general, but it is that he was called for tripping. Not only does he not trip him, but he hits him about 1.5 seconds after the puck is gone so that isn't interference either. That isn't a penalty.
-
Does anyone know if the same refs will officiate an entire series? If so, the inconsistency is inexcusable. I forgot the biggest gaff: Hjarlmarsson hit on Franzen in Game 3 (no penalty) vs. Franzen hit on Hjarlmarsson in Game 6 (penalty)

Pav's "trip" on Toews? Abby thrown face first into the boards by Seabrook in the 1st while on a PP? Kindl called for interference and then later in the first a Wing was interfered with even more so with no call? Consistency is all we ask for.

Late 2nd PP in Game 6 is microcosm of biggest need.

Just a wasted opportunity. For as many strides this team has made (and they have made MANY strides), they have shown an inability to go for the kill and put a team away. See last night. See Game 5 against Anaheim. I agree with you: being down 2....going into the 3rd....in the playoffs....on the road....in a game in which you have been, for the most part, outplayed.....that would have been tough to come back from. Being down 1 is completely different. -
You keep asking this same question in multiple threads. You must not have watched the regular season. He contributes nothing. If you don't have size or athleticism (he doesn't), then you need to bring offensive acumen to the table (see: Brian Rafalski). Offensively, he is average at best. Defensively, he was turning the puck over too much. He has no place on this team.

I think to win, we will need Fil or Mule to do something here. Ok game from each of them so far. -
I agree he is not at Fil's defensive ability YET, but he definitely has the potential. That shift last night where he stole the puck from Kane TWICE was awesome!!!!

Bump Jesus Christ, this kid needs more ice time! He creates every time he is on the ice. (BTW, I'm not criticizing Babs, I'm just excited by this kid)

That has a lot of truth to it. The Red Wings don't make headlines because they put their head down and do their job. They don't f*** around, they don't do stupid s*** like athletes in other sports do. Blame ESPN (and the media today) who just likes to talk about talk. They don't talk about the actual games as much as they talk about the s*** that happens between them.
-
Are they with the team? Or are they absent because the Griffins are still playing?

Broadcasters referencing Michigan schools/Michigan in general
unsaddleddonald posted a topic in General
Maybe it is because I always take not when I hear it, but does it seem to you guys that whenever a local guy (whether from Michigan or from a Michigan university) is playing a nationally televised game, the broadcasters tend to point them out? For example, Doc Emrick always seems to mention Abby and Mills coming from State. Pierre just mentioned Torey Krug is from Livonia/MSU. When watching Rangers games, Hagelin from UofM is always mentioned. You guys hear this? -

I get "telling it like it is", but good coaches can find a medium (Babcock). He is simply an ******* that players don't like. -
Not Franzen's fault. Not Holland's fault. The fault lies with Jiri Hudler and Mikael Sameulsson. If Kenny had known that those two useless sacks of s*** weren't coming back, he could have contributed the funds he was planning to use on them to use on Hossa.

People who don't "buy in" to Corey Crawford
unsaddleddonald replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
I don't think he has ever had a bad game against the Wings. This extends even further to Niemi (who has a dominant record against us too). The Blackhawks as a team always play their best against the Wings. Even the last couple of years where they looked mediocre against every one else, they always took it to us. -
Red Wings don't belong in the same rink as the Hawks?

I'll say that when Bolland was punking Andersson and their way back to the benches to which Andersson didn't really react at all..... Is Tootoo in yet? -
Bergeron, Datsyuk, Toews finalists for Selke
unsaddleddonald replied to dat's sick's topic in General
Bergeron's nomination is justified, but I don't think he has a chance of winning this year considering his point production compared to Pav and Toews and the fact that those two tied for league lead in takeaways. So with all the black and white stats being relatively equal, does Pav win the award by playing with "lesser" talent? -
Abby has turned into the type of guy that completes an elite team. He is the type of depth guy you absolutely need in order to be a contender. If we can add an elite scorer and move Abby back to the 3rd line (where he still belongs), then watch out. Having Helm and Abby on a 3rd line and adding in Tatar....nice.
-
I agree that Pav has a better wrister than slap shot and vice versa for Hank. But Pav's shot, in general, is fairly inaccurate (in my opinion). I know that he can absolutely pick a corner sometimes (see game 4), but many times Pav will have an open shot and blast it wide and/or high. Then again, he is not a sniper.

Next two off-seasons (it's going to be a two-year process)

*Sigh* I appreciated the time you took to put this together and your analysis, but this "here's my idea for what we should do roster-wise/roster analysis" is a tired topic. -
I REALLY hope Paul Mac takes a shot at Prust after this series.
