God, I hate these threads. I respect that everyone has their own opinion, but to constantly go up and down the roster with one's "evaluations" is a tired topic. Granted I didn't read most of it, but to have Franzen in the bottom six with Filppula in the top six? Where am I? What year is it?

This x1000 Unless your are a Zetterberg type player, if you don't have size in this league, then you need speed. He has been an energizer bunny out there similar to what Helm is and what Tatar had shown this season.

My guess is that it is from all of those cross checks to the back from Matt Greene before the PP goal.

Wings only need ONE point and a Dallas Win in regulation.

When was the last time Mule had scored in 4 of 5 games?!?!? Keep it goin boy!

Does anyone know where I would be able to see that? I'm thinking the amount of losses would be pretty shocking....

FINISH.....SCORING.....CHANCES or not....

Just wondering if you guys have noticed this as well. It seems like a lot of our guys (especially Quincey and White) have a hard time controlling the puck along the boards in the offensive zone. There have been many times where I have seen the puck hop over our guy's sticks and they subsequently give up a 2 on 1. Yet another aspect that Nick would do flawlessly that we miss.

Putting Hank's goal scoring problems into perspective.

This. For every one of Pav's snipes, he misses the net completely another 20 times. But, again, he isn't a goal scorer so we can't get too upset or surprised about that. -
The one play that seems to give our Defense fits

That is the scary thing though. Last year everyone and their mother was saying that Nyquist would be a full time NHLer. He seems to be locked in now, but it took a while. Who knows with this brain trust... -

I think it is just magnified when the team as a whole is not scoring goals. When your team isn't scoring, you look to your top guys. And I guess the reality is this: he has nearly a point per game and is in the top 15 (?) in league scoring, and yet this team needs MORE from him. That probably says more about the team itself than Hank. -

That is a problem in general for the whole team. They run the offense similar to NHL13: skate straight to the net and try and pass through the skates and sticks of defensemen. Rarely do you see our guys cut to the middle after entering the zone and create different shooting lanes or pause a little, let one guy drive the net, and catch the trailing man. -
2 on 2 or 3 on 2, they do the same thing everytime: skate forward and try and pass through defensemen's sticks. Someone mentioned it before: this team NEVER utilizes the middle of the ice. shots from bad angles shots from the point Watch the Penguins, Blackhawks, Flyers, etc. They gain the zone, cut to the middle, and evaluate their options. They use against the grain passing where they flip the flow of the play on the rush. And for how much of a genius Pav is, he cannot shoot to save his life. For every snipe he has, he has about 100 shots that go wide or go off a guy's leg.

Lol, that reminds me of when people a couple years ago were saying (with pure sincerity) "we need more goal scorers? f*** you. Dan Cleary scored 26 goals this year! We don't need more scoring!"

Mods, please take this statement and pin it at the top of the forums. There is way too much truth in this statement.

Easy solution then: go get Henrik Lundquist. Or a goalie just like him since they are a dime a dozen. And top players are at the top of their game, when the team is needing it the most. Top players will get that next goal to put their team ahead. The goalie needs to stop pucks and the team in front of him needs to score goals. It is a two way street.

Good teams beat teams that are asking to be beat.

It doesn't matter that they played well if they don't win. I'm really not trying to get under your skin or anything, but moral victories don't produce 2 points. Bottom line: score goals or get out. Middle ground: the blame of this loss is 50% on Jimmy and 50% on the offense.
-
Geeze man, it doesn't matter. If you don't score and you don't win, it doesn't matter. Results......Results....
-
I can't argue about this anymore. Not with my Red Wing brethren . But guys....come on... This team's biggest problem is goal scoring. Everyone knows that. Don't let that aspect off the hook and blame arguably this teams MVP.
-
*deep breath* For all intents and purposes, the scored one goal.
-
HOLY s*** YOU DO NOT GET IT!!!! They scored one goal. ONE GOAL. That's not enough. YOU....NEED....TO....SCORE...MORE...OR....YOU...WONT...WIN. Whatf****** team in this league scores one goal and expects to win? No team. It doesn't ******* matter how Jimmy plays if the team in front of him only scores once.
-
This is a joke: if your team scores one goal, do you really expect them to win?
