FINISH SCORING CHANCES A goalie playing an outstanding game is twofold: the goalie makes a good save and/or the offensive player fails to finish.
-
Spare me. To win in this league, you need to score more than one goal. Period.
-
LOL To blame Jimmy for this loss would imply that the team in front of him deserved to win. They scored (for all intents and purposes) ONE GODDAMN GOAL. ONE Not Jimmy's fault.
-
Was it Jimmy Howard that failed to capitalize on all of those scoring chances? Did Jimmy Howard have a TERRIBLE line change on that PP that left no one behind the goal line except Jimmy, Steve Begin, and the trapezoid? Did Jimmy Howard throw the puck into his feet from Big E's stick? It is not Jimmy Howard's fault the Red Wings lack a legitimate scoring threat.

How many finishers do the Red Wings have?

Here is how far we are from the top: We couldn't beat Calgary Pittsburgh beat Montreal without Crosby, Malkin, or Neal. This team has zero <3
-
FORECHECK FORECHECK FORECHECK This is how Calgary played us last time too. They routinely have 3 guys high on the forecheck and we can't break it. Even when we do, we lack enough team speed to really make them pay.

Franzen's talent + Cleary's drive and desire = pretty good hockey player. We have the technology, we can build him...
-
LOL, I still don't know where the hell that linesman came from! But let's face it: Mule is the X-factor. We will go as far as he can take us.

Crosby left the game after puck to the face

I'm don't mean to poke fun. It just sounded funny to me for some reason. -

Lol, accident. Makes it sound like he was in a car crash. -
Tambelinni fired, MacTavish new Oiler GM...Scott Howson new Sr VP

That team is stocked full of the same type of player. Too much of a good thing. -
To win, they must score. Score more goals.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/04/red_wings_continue_having_trou.html#incart_river Said Babcock: “We don't score that good so we got to keep grinding. The bottom line is I thought we put a good effort in. We got another game tomorrow (at Chicago), so let's get on the flight and get something in us and get ready to go.'' The Red Wings continue to struggle to score. It doesn't look like that will change. “The league tightens up,'' Babcock said. “Some guys score and some guys don't, and we got a lot that don't.''

Gee, Craig Custance is so darn smart! He should be a GM and his assistant GMs should be Pierre Lebrun and Scott Burnside.
-
Better hold on to that one. That's a pretty rare find.
-
LOL, didn't know that was possible. Mule is the same guy who goes to the corner to hit a guy and HE is the one on the ice in the aftermath.
-
My point was that Big E was WIDE OPEN and Cleary didn't even look that way.
-
Dan Cleary: "There is no such thing as a bad angle."
-
Nick goes without saying. And I was one who always gave Rafi s***. But everytime I watch our D try and shoot from the point for it to be either blocked or go wide, I remember how Rafi had almost as much of a seeing eye and deflectable shot as Nick had.
-
Drive our defense back and hit the trailing man. We get burned on that play A LOT.
-
The one thing I've noticed the most about Smith is his reluctance to really let a good slap shot go. He always kind of puts a hitch in his follow through. Just seems hesitant to really blast it. This times 10.
-
I agree with this. Which makes this season so frustrating. When will Babs: cut ties with Dan Cleary punish the Mule for his play load up on skill on the top lines Like others have mentioned, if there only was a way to put Cleary's drive and desire into Mule's body....
-
This seems to still be relevant. Nothing....just nothing. Not one player in this lineup can be counted on to score when we REALLY need one. I can count on Hank or Pav to assist on the goal, but no one to score it.

This has been considered before. Buying into it anymore? “If we need forwards, Riley Sheahan deserves a chance, Landon Ferraro, we’ve got Tomas Tatar, Gustav Nyquist, Joakim Andersson, Damien Brunner,..." per Kenny. Uses the word "deserves". Makes me think he wants the young guys up now. Also, Dan Cleary would have been sat by 29 other coaches at some point this year.
