The worst part about that one was that Tats felt pressure from behind that wasn't there. Tats is playing on edge right now.

Pretty much spot on here. On a side note, Pav had a brutal unforced icing last night which pretty much summed up the kind of night he had.

Is Joe Louis Arena a tough place to play?
unsaddleddonald replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
I'll blame all those on tickets that are owned by businesses that don't make it a priority to distribute them regularly. I think it would be ideal to redistribute season tickets once the new arena opens, but that's a pipe dream... -

Agreed boys. I was at the game, too, and we were into it from start to finish. Awesome night. -

http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2015/04/21/wings-have-home-ice-but-is-it-an-advantage/26125379/ Good quote from babs "The bottom line is you have to help your crowd help you," Babcock said. "If you don't do anything, your crowd isn't going to help you. You have to play well." -
He can't seem to carry rushes. In fact, it seems like rushes die when he carries the puck through center. He can't forecheck and can't seem to backcheck either. Don't have the stats, but it seems like he is pretty bad in the circle too. Ottawa tied it up on a clean faceoff win against him. I feel like playing the wing would be better for him at this point, ESPECIALLY considering it seems he never really gets premium chances. He as 16 goals and has scored in only 13 games of 73. 1 goal in his last 24. The assists are still there, but the eye test is telling me that he has been ineffective for too many stretches.

Is Hank too slow and ineffective to play center?
unsaddleddonald replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
In general, I don't think it's a coincidence that he is a minus player this year (-5). It seems like having backchecking duties is a little too much for him right now. I think he'd be better served on Pav's wing where he can get open and be available for shots because as a center and as a primary facilitator, he's not getting too many quality opportunities. It also may help to move Tatar off of Pav's wing to freshen things up for him and get him going again (even though part of what has hindered him is the post...a lot). I just want Hank to age the way Selanne, and Jagr, and Pav, and Nick have/did. -

Totally agree, this team lives and dies with Pav. It's an interesting thing to see here as age seems to be catching up much quicker with Hank than Pav. Pav has lost a step, but he's still an absolute difference maker. -

It really is hard to watch some times; when he's backchecking, he puts his head down and skates as hard as he can...he just doesn't go anywhere. -
Trick question; they're the same guy.

That's great, but when we desperately need one, can those guys deliver? Signed, Negative Nancy

What are our chances at McDavid? I think we still have a shot.

Anyone have some suggestions on good NHL Podcasts to listen to (during the day at work)? Detroit sports radio is, of course, a joke. Don't care about the year round Lions, don't care one bit about Max Scherzer, and I definitely have zero interest in a basketball team 10 games under .500.

I think something that really works in Pav's favor regarding the HOF is the idea that most people have regarded him as at least a top-5 player in the league for the better half of a decade now. For 2-3 years, a lot of people considered him the best player in the game. I think that reputation will give him a big push.

Roy doesn't go to Colorado ----> Detroit wins the '96 Cup -----> Shanahan is never a Red Wing? ----> Then what...?

Signed Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV
unsaddleddonald replied to marcaractac's topic in General
After what Holland and Babcock (and Cleary) have put him through? No way they could low ball. I expected him to come in around $2mil, but I'm not shocked he got this deal. -
I'm having trouble understanding why the universal thought is that the price for Mike Green is generally pretty high. If they are indeed asking for what others have suggested.... Why does Washington think they can reel in a high end, young, NHL-ready talent, a top prospect, and a high round pick for a guy who's value has dipped GREATLY, has one year left on his contract, and, from the structure of their team, is expendable? When Spezzas and Keslers are being traded for the returns they got, that seems highly unreasonable even considering different positions are being compared as well as the manufactured value of a right handed d-man.

Wait, are you talking about the Helen "President of the Dan Cleary Fan Club" St. James? If so, then yes I hate her as much as you do. -
Well...at least we're not Philadelphia. Giroux Arrested.

LOL, he took BAD risks and made BAD moves. He traded Sergei Bobrovsky for 3 picks. -

They, as an organization, truly are a clown show. Hell, they gave Paul Holmgren a promotion... -
I disagree.

.....are you serious? He should not sign a 3rd pairing defensive defenseman to a dollar figure higher than Christian Ehrhoff.... -

I don't think Myers is garbage, but he definitely isn't worth whatever the hell Tim Murray is asking for. -
Yeah, I'm not sure how realistic it is to expect more than that from a 2nd line center. That is why they are 2nd line centers. If they scored 70-80 points, they would be 1st line centers (see: Datsyuk, Zetterberg).
