I noticed the trend of his reluctance to trade roster players since the lockout. I only saw one i think (Jason Williams, 2007). Loyalty is one of the reasons why this organization is so respected. However, it doesn't ALWAYS work out best for us....

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

That's just it! Do we need a 4th line upgrade? Or do we need to add some insurance for Mr. Fish-out-of-water-i-miss-Pav Franzen? -
Spot on. He shows some nice stickhandling some times and his shot can be deadly. It is those spots where he is lined up at one of the circles and decides to pass. Or when he's moving in the slot and takes too long to shoot and it gets knocked off his stick. Makes you cringe.... The guy should be shooting at least 10 times a game.

Long story short: There are 2 sure bets on this team: Pav and Nick Everyone else is a toss up and that is troublesome......

Mikey York is just.....terrible. -
I like it. My only concern (and it is a small one) is that I would like insurance that a 41 year old won't run out of gas for us in a long playoff run.

Get outta here. We would have to offer up the 2008 Cup....... ......and that would be to just get them talking!
-
Let's sum this up here: -We have 6 grinding forwards (miller, abdelkader, helm, holmstrom, emmerton/mursak/, cleary) -Moen? Gaustad? we already have 6 of those guys...... -5 playmakers (zetterberg, datsyuk, filppula, hudler, bertuzzi) -1 sniper (Franzen - who, like was said, misses the net a lot because he tries to go top shelf with every shot) I SAY: we neeed a sniper.

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

1.) IMO, Quincey is a top 4 D-man to play on our 3rd pairing 2.) You're pretty much dead on here. -

LOGISTICS OF A DETROIT RED WINGS FIRST ROUND PICK: -Not a sure thing (late 1st round picks in the NHL aren't necessarily toss-ups, but they are far from a sure thing) -We wouldn't see whomever they drafted for AT LEAST 4 years anyway; so in the short term this is a good deal. -

Lets look at this short term fellas: top 4 D-man playing in the 3rd pairing for us in exchange for a pick whom we wouldn't see for at least 4 years...... I love this pickup -
Name me ONE shift in ANY game in which he took it off? Bet you can't do it! Guy skates like a man on fire all the time

Playoff time for the Sharks is a comedy act. Literally EVERY time the Sharks are losing Thornton pulls something like this. Remember the Franzen slew foot? The pressure of winning a Cup gets to this guy badly and he couldn't hide it if he wanted to.... AND LOL @ CLOWE!! Haha, get your Kronwalled @$$ outta here!

Bobby Ryan went to high school in Michigan for a year. I had a couple of classes with him. Never believed him when he told me how good he was at hockey...... I even helped him spy on his GF (as petty as that sounds......)

So how many games has Bert won/directly assisted in the win this year for us? Atta boy Bert

There is a difference between making a mistake and not playing hard.

PITTSBURGH! I was in disbelief until the next year's playoffs. Crosby was SHUT DOWN the entire series! Malkin really only showed up in games 3 and 4. Pav didn't play until game 5. Kronner with a post with 3 min left in a 2-1 game 7. Max Talbot?! Jesus christ...... Not enough Mule, NO HOSS. pure heartbreak.....

http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Wings+have+earned+love/6087554/story.html “I played against Detroit more than I played for them, and the good way to put it is you have respect for them,” defenceman Mike Commodore said. “A lot of guys end up staying here for a long time. Other guys come in here and maybe their career is at a standstill or they’re on the backside of their career, and they’re able to come here and get rejuvenated. Players respect that, too. The way things are done in Detroit has garnered respect." EVERYONE LOVES THIS TEAM

Vancouver Sun article on why no one hates the Wings
unsaddleddonald replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
Don't pretend you don't want to have 4 Cups in the last 15 years. And because you would want those Cups (and what fan wouldn't?), you are jealous. You come off implying that the Wings haven't done anything worth being jealous about...... -
Vancouver Sun article on why no one hates the Wings
unsaddleddonald replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
K guys you are missing the point in this article. For one, he isn't talking about our fanbase..... People hate the Bruins because they play thug hockey. People hate the Rangers because of Tortorella and players "shooting" goalies after a goal. People hate the Canucks because they are divers/crybabies. People hate the Sharks because of players like Thornton (playoff cheap shot master) and Pavelski (diver). People hate Chicago because they have guys like Kane who will score a goal and race out to center ice with a celebration. People hate the Wings because.....they win? When our guys score they act like they've done it before. They don't play goon hockey. They don't complain in the media. They don't dish out cheap shots. And to that Blues fan, other than not being able to get over the "Red Wings hump", the only incidents you could be referring to are the Chris Pronger days. -
Not many outside of Red Wing nation understand the magical quality of The Joe. Unless it is renovated, you probably won't see another ASG in our house.

Calgary trades Brendan Morrison to the Hawks
unsaddleddonald replied to Vladiator's topic in General
This isn't the early 2000s Brendan Morrison who played on the Bert-Naslund line. Very vanilla move.
