They played Hockeytown after the first goal like they always do . I wish they wouldn't mess with "Get ready for this" after goals, that song always makes me think Wings goal!
-
You have GOT to be kidding me......
-
just did it again after Fil's goal!!! stupid goal song by the way...thanks a lot Chicago for pressuring our DJ into using pop songs for goal songs....

Really Babs?! Why Conklin? Is Jimmy Howard going on 40 years old or something and he can't do back to backs?
-
WHO IS THIS SHANNON HOGAN BROAD?!?!? Any relation to Hulk Hogan?
-
I hope you're right. I am still in my skeptical stage when it comes to passing off a Sharks' 3rd pair D-man (i think) as a top pair for us.....

Ian White looks to be skating kind of slow to me. Anyone else?

Illitch: Definitely a new arena coming
unsaddleddonald replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
I went to a preseason game a couple of weeks ago, and the first place i noticed that stupid Amway logo was on the scoreboard. On the bottom two corners of each of the four faces of the scoreboard there has always been a Wings logo with a red backdrop. Well these have been replaced with Amway logos...... -
Your idea makes the most sense for the league if they don't consider vast realignment. That way they give everyone what they want. It will be tough to take Detroit over Columbus (even though it shouldn't be) and taking Columbus over Detroit would bring outrage. As far as Columbus being farther east than Detroit: although it is a fact, people who use that neglible arguement would be grasping for straws...

surprising coming from a tough mother****** who was a great fighter
-
Oh i completely agree, the matchups are unique in their own ways. My point is that the travel we make only compounds playing a tough team in the West. Playing in the East, we AT LEAST benefit from not changing through three time zones. I'm in no way refering to East teams as easier opponents.
-
Surface level, the thing that comes to mind first would be replacing the 2nd road game against every team not in our division in the West with a road game against a team in the East.
-
Yeah that's true. But I'm more or less talking about combined travel. I'm willing to bet that the Wings travel more during the playoffs than Vancouver will (disregarding this year of course because they played two central teams) or San Jose or Anaheim will. It's like if the Wings get past their Pacific division foe there is another Pacific division or Northwest division team waiting for them. Take this year for example: Phoenix---->San Jose--->and then would have been Vancouver That kind of travel just doesn't seem fair.......
-
Even as an extension to this, when we play tough teams on the West coast in the playoffs (in recent years at least) we seemingly lose any chance at a cup with a combination of the opponent being strong and cross country travel. '07: tough San Jose team followed by equally as strong Anaheim '09: tough Anaheim team '10: San Jose '11: San Jose the East has their share of scary teams no doubt, but one can only imagine if the travel factor was taken out of the Red Wings playoff runs....

Look, i realize that the Columbus GM and the Columbus front office has to do what they can to better their franchise, but I really just want to say the hell with Columbus. They are such a throw away franchise with no history, no fan base----> no national interest, nobody cares about the Columbus Blue Jackets. Why they even exist is bewilderment enough. But it is very very funny to me to know that despite all of that, Columbus will have just as good (if not better?) a chance to move East as the Wings. Logistically....it makes sense. Logically.....it doesn't.

just to add to what you guys are all saying... that 02 Avs series was everything and more. I cried when they lost game 5 </3

http://my.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=11767&user_id=131735 Take this one with a grain of salt boys. I'm not too familiar with HockeyBuzz so I don't really know how credible they are. I find it weird that at the end of the article, with the prediction, this guy predicts that the Wings will deal with a bunch of injuries. I don't think I've ever seen someone predict a team (of any sport really) will have a lot of injuries.... On a side note, my buddy was talking to me about how "Eklund" predicted the Wings to finish 11th in the West. Anyone know of such an article?

That was a pointless post.

oh man, at the top of the page it says that this kid is 18 years old.

Bleacher Report 50 Best Announcers/Personalities in Hockey History

I don't know how everyone else feels, but even though i'm not surprised he made it, I think that bigot Canadian ass who still thinks this is the 1950s and believes that Europeans are killing hockey (Cherry) should have been left off the list. -

I wouldn't say that necessarily, he was coming off of a 58 point season. But I digress...
