Jason Williams signs 1 year contract with Pittsburgh
unsaddleddonald replied to winger30's topic in General
all justified ridicule aside guys, is it fair to say that Raffi Torres ruined Jason Williams career? -
We came back from 0-2 against Vancouver. Hasek had a lot of huge saves in those games in Vancouver, one being a penalty shot from Bert when we were tied I think. We also won a game 3 in Colorado 2-1 in OT, not to mention Dom shutting out the Avs in a must win game 6 2-0. I think Hasek was the difference in the Colorado series and I don't think Ozzie could have bailed us out in those situations.

Greg Brady was also the eldest of 3 boys to a man named Mike Brady. I think he had 3 step sisters and they created a family band or something like that.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/hockey/rangers/2011/06/25/2011-06-25_richards_race_favors_rangers.html does any one else find it annoying that teams are able to bail themselves out of terrible contracts by sending players to the minors? Chicago doing with Huet last summer, the Oilers doing it with Souray, the Rangers doing it with Wade Redden. In my opinion, these teams should have to deal with the stupidity they bring upon themselves. Its an absolute cop out and they humiliate these players in the process by sending them to the minors. I hope the next CBA corrects this.

Hah, thanks for the backup Konnan. I never thought I would be insulted by fellow Red Wing fans because my grammar was off....
-
Sorry, I would have taken more time proof reading this had I known my 6th grade English teacher was critiquing it....

My issue isn't with the player, its with the GM's and the team's management. Glen Sather is getting bailed out by this loophole: he gets to stuff a veteran in the minors and he is hoping that Chris Drury's injury is bad enough that he can put him on long term IR. That doesn't sound a little disgusting to you? And the result is now he gets a free shot at Brad Richards...so he can throw more stupid contracts around. It is ridiculous how he doesn't have to pay for his mistakes of offering terrible contracts. I just feel like GMs should not be able to be bailed out like that so easily...

In that offseason, we lost Mclellan and got Mcrimmon. I blame that for why our defense has sucked since 08

i mentioned that i don't know what Franzen is yet. to me, an elite player scores more than 2 goals in the last 27 games of the regular season.

Excellent point! We needed timely goal scoring that just never came in that SJ series. Mule was hurt, i'll give him that, but its tough to explain the way he ended the regular season. Back to the SJ series, did anyone really feel confident in Cleary, Bert, Fil, Huds, Homer, etc. to score a goal when Pav and Z weren't out there? It got to a point where we didn't really have a chance of scoring unless the Euro twins were on the ice. The players I mentioned are nice DEPTH forwards but they are not players who can score on demand. We have two, and again I don't know what Mule will end up being. But you look at the top West teams: Chicago, SJ, and Vancouver. Something they all have in common is that they all have AT LEAST 3 elite/dangerous forwards who are a threat to score... Chicago: Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa (Bolland?) SJ: Thornton, Heatley, Marleau, Pavelski, Clowe, Couture, Setoguchi Van: Twins, Kesler, Burrows We have two elite players, I feel we need one more....

WCSF Game 3 GDT: Sharks 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)
unsaddleddonald replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
i totally disagree. We gave SJ the line way too easily in the third, had relatively zero forecheck, and didn't generate many, if any, solid chances. -
I was just wondering if you guys felt that Todd Mclellan's intimate knowledge of our offensive and defensive systems is effecting how the series last year and the series this year are being played out. In my opinion, the effect is tangible. It seems that every time we get into the zone with some decent speed we either 1.) get sent back out of the zone rather quickly or 2.) if we do set up, they are doing an excellent job of keeping us to the outside, the middle of the offensive zone is coming at a premium and we cannot seem to get there. And on the other side, we are giving up a decent number of odd man breaks whether its coming from d-man pinching and getting caught or something else. I can only really think of one odd man break besides Helmer's breakaway that we've had and it was in Game 1 when Abby didn't do much with it. So what do you guys think, does what Mclellan know hurting us or not?

Rafi caused that pressure, should have just dumped it behind the net to E instead of forcing it to Eaves -
I don't get it. Salei has no skill set to offer. Its fitting that he wears #24 because he looks just as slow as Chelios. In the last game alone i counted 4 turnovers in our zone. Kindl at least brings a European skill set to the table. Am i the only one that doesn't understand Bab's obsession with playing Salei so much?!?!?
-
its not much of a fight when Kindl has looked better and still doesn't get the call.....
-
ok, that wasn't the point

Do you guys notice that in every playoff series for what seems to be forever, the Wings get stuck playing afternoon games at home on the weekend? If i'm not mistaken, i've heard before that hockey players generally agree that it is difficult to get up for afternoon games compared to night games. If true, it sucks because home ice at the Joe is lessened due to players not being 100% ready and pumped to play the game. I assume the Wings always get these games due to the fact that they are nationally televised and the Wings are a big draw. And lets not forget, the Wings lost the two afternoon playoff games they played in last year, games 3 and 6 to phoenix.

Yeah, i just think its stupid sometimes. We start wednesday so (Hank's recovery asside) we should be playing Friday night. boston and montreal are playing saturday on the east coast, stick them on NBC. -
SALEI IS THE WORST!!!!!!!!! OMG GET MEECH IN THERE
-
Wings look to be dictating the pace right now, slow and controlled game.
-
Absolutely no speed through the neutral zone. Everyone is being caught from behind......
-
Game just started and Mule was already just standing around looking disinterested......
