This is impressive. Here is the original 7 start to the new league. -
Who was the better Wing/Player? Yzerman or Lidstrom

Impossible to vote, it's like dividing by 0. -
Wow, good to hear our boys are tearing it up over there. A line with Brunner, Z and Omark ... damn that sounds sick.
-
Well it's a damn good thing the game is played on the ice and not decided by sport writers. The Red Wings have a new look, players will step up, everything's going to be just fine. I personally think it will be better than fine and we will surprise a lot of sport writers and fans this year. I can't wait until puck drop to see what we really have. Sincerely, Optimism

Is the Stanley Cup really the hardest trophy in all of pro sport?
redwingmachine replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
As for basketball, here are my thoughts: 1. Way too many time-outs. 2. If you can score over 100pts in a single game, maybe it is too easy for the players. 3. Why is everyone amazed by a 7ft tall giant that drives the net and dunks on a helpless defender that can't do ANYTHING to stop him? 4. It's a game of embellishment. Nothing is more annoying than a 7ft tall giant flopping around like Joe Thornton after a little bump with an elbow. As for baseball: 1. The sport is so slow and boring, even the announcers lose focus drift off most of the time. 2. Sports need a time keeping system not this seemingly never ending inning system, makes the game d-r-a-g. 3. You can't call it a world series unless the world participates. 4. The batter needs to step up to the plate ready to play... none of this: swing at a pitch then step out and take a few more swings, stretch out, tap the shoes again, adjust, then step back in. BE READY! NHL or ice hockey in general is the only sport for me! -

This article brings up an interesting point about NFL vs NHL playoffs. "To win the Superbowl a team must be the better team through 44 minutes of play. To win the Stanley Cup a team must be the better team through a minimum of 16 hours of play." My link -

Now divide the 11min by an offensive line and defensive line and special teams blah blah blah, not to mention there are several players that never ever see contact. Football is way overrated IMO. I also think one of the main reasons it is so popular in the US is at a rate of 81.6% of the game dedicated to standing around it is a perfect opportunity for commercials. Yet another way corporations are driving the masses interest. Just sayin. -

Did you know that in football the ball is only in motion about 11 mins out of every game? That seems like a lot of standing or "huddling" to me. The NHL definitely has the toughest season and the toughest playoffs. -
Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"
redwingmachine replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
No-Check, No-Slap pick up games don't apply here kid, glad you play hockey and you finally found a way to fit that in to a discussion. Read this: "Never mind that Blutarsky's hit cracked Zetterberg's helmet in two places. (He says he'll be wearing a new one for Game 2 tonight.) Or that Zetterberg was dizzy enough afterward that he had to pass a concussion test" From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120413/OPINION03/204130359#ixzz1rw87mNNo -
I will be there - 227A Row 8. I say whatever it is it should be directed toward Weber. I'm not sure what is more frustrating, the fact that he did it or the fact that he got away with it and it's not like we have anyone to settle the score on the ice.

I call BS, if this happened to a team mate of mine I would throw gloves no doubt! I say f*** Weber and I hope to see retribution in this series. Whether or not he gets a suspension for this he better have a target for this series. A dirty no-class act IMO withe 5 sec left. -

I'm looking for the best Red Wings post game party in Detroit?
redwingmachine posted a topic in General
My awesome Wife surprised me with tickets to Game 1 of Round 1 this year for my birthday and I’m looking for the best post game hang out in Detroit. This will ultimately help me decide which hotel I will stay at this time as I plan to be in full blown party-like-a-rock-star mode! The last couple years we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Washington St and partied at the Big City Bar afterwards. The first year we met Jimmy Howard, last year was cool because it happened to fall on Tigers opening day and there were people everywhere. I have heard some great things about Greektown area, and the Post Bar. I thought I would throw this out there and find out what you all think is the best post game party in town? Also, will anyone else be going? Every time I’m there I ask the people I meet if they are on LGW, somehow thinking that everyone in Detroit is a Wings fan and a member of LGW. -
He is absolutely right. Now let’s get it together and take some aggression out on Saturday when we play the Sharks. I don’t think there is anything that will make this team feel better than destroying the Sharks on their own ice.
-
Sharks May overcome your streak. Otherwise it would be a great game.

Awesome! -
The world will probably implode so we won't need to worry. Not sure I understand the doom and gloom? We have the deepest team in the NHL. Crawford is weak and the Hawks are fragile. We will be victorious!
-
Your avatar gives me slight anxiety.
-
I wonder if the Hawks make a play for him... they are in desperate need. Feel bad for the guy but you can't deny that J-MAC out played him and seems to want it more.
-
I guess I wouldn't mind seeing Kesler get Kronwalled again.
-
Good stuff right here, thanks for the post!

Nothing beats watching Red Wing hockey with Ken, Mick and the gang! (and some ginger ales of course)
-
I guess it’s a matter of interpretation… the way I heard what he said was, the Wings made a questionable change with eight guys on the ice and got the jump on Tampa. Otherwise why specify there were EIGHT guys, let alone emphasize it and draw a big yellow arrow to it. Perhaps it could be blamed on the ambiguity of the English language… or Eddie is a giant bag of ******. My opinion is the latter.

My hatred for Olczyk aside, I don’t even consider the Hawks a good puck possession team. To me they are a run-n-gun, dump and chase, grinding, sloppy team. They don’t make real complex plays except the occasional break in with a drop pass to the D or a crash the net with a back door pass, and even those are simple plays (stuff any 4th line is capable of). I know they fancy themselves a puck possession team and would like to be, but IMO they’re not. They always look for the quick breaks and lack the outlet pass support system required for a possession style team.
