with that said you dont' call a guy a *****, especially after a cross check in the face. Maybe he doesn't take pain too well, but in the case of getting cross checked in the face moving through neutral zone, I don't think your comment is justified...

So maybe over a period of time Sid is the one, but let's say this season there is a big if factor. what if he didn't get hurt, that we don't know as far as his performance goes. Say Ovechkin drags his team into playoffs and scores well over 100 points, wouldn't he be the one this season? There is another lingering question because there is so much hype about him perhaps his team mates are forced to pass to him and have him be the scoring machine? Say if everyone had this level of hype around Malkin wouldn't he produce the same results? It seems he is with Sid being injured. There is no doubt about the fact that Pens are way better with Sid & Malkin healthy, but if the team is built around Sid he is the one getting the most ice time and the most chances... It is probably the same in washington though lol I bet Semin would get more chances if the team was built around him... tough tough question to answer...

I think Wings finally have enough grit, we need to make sure we have 2nd line scoring. Cleary please get healthy asap. Anyways Avery is a distraction because he talks so much crap on and off the ice. Chelly might talk on the ice to get into players' heads, but off the ice its nothing but class. I think Downy and McCarty can do the job, but if Wings mgt thinks they need Avery they should go for him, I doubt they feel that way, but hey u never know...

I wonder though if there is a rational way to analyze all aspects of the game and see, which players exceeds the most on average, thus taking the crown as the best. the problem with articles like the one tsn posted as they are subjective. What are the factors that make a player the best? Ok so Crosby is talented, young, plays well and Canadian? That is too subjective, they should list facts and prove why... Maybe do at least top 10 players in the world, so there is a comparison rather than Crosby Canada Crosby Canada canada crosby and etc... As far as I am concerned it is awesome that NHL is #1 in Canada, but most teams are in US and NHL has international rosters and ultimately its about hockey and not about a specific country, which is why NHL is the best league...

I don't think Mike was asked by NHL, but since he is a leaf fan and a big fan of hockey I am sure he would love to help NHL's ratings. Plus the guy he is helping is black, which is not very common for a super star hockey player with the exception of a few players it liek Iginla or Carter back in a day its relatively rare... I am sure this movie is good for ratings though... looks pretty funny

yea I agree this new schedule is idiotic. I live in NYC with 3 nhl teams within a short distance of each other and this is a 2nd year in a row I can't see wings live cause of the idiotic schedule... teams have to play each team in NHL at least once, current schedule is overkill and bettman is a moron

so maybe the Soviets lost it versus Americans won it hehe

with the Russian election all over the news and tension between Russia and United States, it probably brings some emotions about that impossible victory and the cold war... who knows... Plus that was a nation's win versus just another super bowl...

it seems everyone keeps saying that the only reason people talk about Ovechkin and Malkin now is that because Crosby got hurt. However, to assume that Crosby would have continued to be good is also like saying if zetterburg played every game this year and didn't have back problems he would have had more than 75 points. There are a lof of ifs. Or saying well if Cleary wouldn't have gotten hurt he would have scored over 40 goals. You never know. I think to crown Crosby the best in the world is a little premature... For Ovechkin and Malking to get more respect, they would not only have to drag their teams into playoffs they would also have to marry Canadians girls and get a Canadian citizenship, denounce Russia and get rid of their Russian accents:)

yea that is what I figured. it is soo annoying... no one even bothers to talk about Malkin and the fact that he is queitly leading the league and pens... People do talk about Ovechkin just because of the 48 goals, but still. I agree there is always bias against Euro players. I really sort of can't stand watching crosbey interviews, because they make him out to be Gretzky or Jordan. I don't know if Crosby has proved himself to be even as good as Stevie Y was at his age, but people already crown him as the best right now.

wings were already on a losing streak before LIds got hurt. THe only beat struggling avs the game LIds got hurt and then went back to their funk. As much as I love Lids, I think this was a downward spiral, but perhaps it could have been slowed down if he didn't get injured

Since Sens just fired their coach... do you think Babcock would ever be in jeopardy? Say wings lose 2 more games in a row or 5 imore in a row? Granted there are a ton of injuries and Wings mostly outshooting their opponents and have had some of the worst luck with posts and bad calls... Nonetheless at what point does Holland starts freaking out? I am not in a panic mode yet, but what would qualify a panic mode and a drastic move?

well stats go in Datsyuk's favor over Zets so we should say Lids and Dats maybe:) should have traded Zetta to get Richards or Hossa then everyone would be happy with holland

I agree. Everyone keeps assuming that Holland was the monarch responsible for all Wings moves around the deadline. What if the truth is, that Scottie, Stevie Y and Babcock all agreed and supported Holland's decision. I don't think anyone operates in a vacuum in the wings organization... Maybe they wanted another scorer, but it was too "expensive" to get the one they felt would fit in.. Babcock even said himself recently he doesn't think there will be major moves and doesn't think there should be...

Yea agree with that... Who is to say that Holland is operating in a vacuum? Wings are a first class organization... there is Scottie, Stevie Y and Babcock with huge impact on what happens... Everyone keeps yelling about Holland and no one complains about Babcock or the rest of the key people as if Holland is the sole decision maker. Given all that experience and all these people I think we should all back off and assume they did the right thing at the deadline...
