he barely touched the guy... yes it might have been a dangerous "hit", but it wasn't a vicious cross check into the boards. I think people are over reacting a bit, I think 5 minutes wouldn't have been shelled out if the guy didn't smash against the boards so bad. If he just fell and then got up it might habve been a 2 minutes minor...

yea I think you misunderstood, I was saying that because of that it shouldn't be Babcock and I was agreeing with the other choices of Tippet, Trotz and Ruff... I wasn't being sarcastic, I do agree everyone battles with injuries and its the coach's job to get the most out of star players. Overall, I think Babcock did do a fine job, just not fantastic to be nominated for anything...

you know what those make a lot of sense... Granted Babcock had to deal with injured players and etc, but Wings star players were inconsistent through out the season. Even Lids had a very slow start and I get why, but still...

One of the major reasons Russia choked in Olympics is that all the best Russian coaches were in fact working with American and Canadian athletes (that is where the money at)... For Sochi olympics funds will be allocated to ensure there won't be a massive embarrasment like in Vancouver...

I lived in USSR in 1985 and former Soviet Union till 1995... in any case, what I can say is this fan is going to get a massive beating from the cops for this incident... The fan was just an ass, it is no different from having a drunk fan falling into Tie Domi's penalty boxes and getting his ass kicked. Of course in this case the goalie could have gotten seriously hurt. As far as Russia goes, yes some things are backwards but at the same time Moscow is the most expensive city in the world to live and the lifestyle has changed dramatically... nope lol... I can't stand him as much as I did before. But the guy does show up on the regular basis and especially when it matters most. Can't deny his abilities or talent at all, just personality and certain things on the ice, he comes off like a total *******... Of course I don't know him personally, so who da hell knows. He ain't Ovechking, but then again team Russia choked and Caps haven't won a cup yet...

what a run, amazing job by team USA.... they not only showed up against Canada, but almost came out with the win. Great job! Unlike, Russia, the American team actually came to play...

no not at all, who would have though that Canada would seed 6th? I mean its stupid that Russia as a winner of their group has to play Canada... Canada choked that is, but Russia has to deal with them now as well, which is obviously not their fault... it is what it is... Like I said I would be very happy with a Russia vs. United States final... Canada choking would be a glorious outcome:)

what is horse s*** is that Russia has to play Canada in quater finals... that is just rediculous... If Russia wants gold, they would have likely still had to go through Canada anyway, but still kind of crappy after winning your group you have to go play Canada??? Let's hope for Russia vs United States final. It would be great to relive the 1980 game cept with a different outcome this stuff, so maybe just maybe I don't have to hear for the millionth time about miracle on ice... lol

I have to say NBC has done a s***ty job. I can't tell when the game start and end... exactly as the poster said, regardless when you turn the tv on, you will always end up seeing curling... Seriously, there is barely any places in United States where you can even play stupid curling. Most people don't care for it, why is it taking up so much space???? just awful...

I am Russian so lol.... but definately want United States to win besides, simply because now I am an American too... Any team other then Canada winning would be great. Even though I want Babcock and Yzerman to be successful, but it would be great to shut Don Cherry up and other Canadian fans like that up.

yea that totally sucks, I also hate when he uses his size to hold a player off with one hand while controlling the puck with a free hand... just awful. He should be skating with a puck really fast as opposed to being slow like he is only to fall behind the net and let the opposition get it.... that's how things get done in the wings organization...

ohhh yea and this year might be just the year for team Russia... perhaps an Olympic gold medal too:)... Russia by far has the most loaded team since last Soviet Union olympic team... Ovechkin, Malkin, Datsyuk and Kovalchuk on the same team... holy crap lol
