Ovechkin is the most exciting player to watch in the world right now hands down... if he continues to produce the way he does, no reason to believe he won't take 3rd in a row... I think for the sport as good as Crosby is, Ovechkin is much more important... He is an exciting player

yea I concur... Leino has enough really good history to see that this guy has some major potential... he could easly turn into a solid 2nd line player next season... oh well I am sure Kenny knows what he is doing and its not like Wings didn't give Leino a chance to perform with all the injuries...

Mogilny back in a day did very well with NJ and he was an offensive player and Devils did win the cup with him...

as I thought Kovalchuk will want to go to a big Russian speaking area, like NYC metro... It may be rental for now, but I can see him stay with the Devils or end up with the Rangers... in terms of lifestyle for Russian speaking players even with fantastic English, NYC is a great area to live in...

well yea obviously only Detroit does, but like I said if you can make a ton of money in a long term deal you might as well enjoy it. I know athletes want to to win and want to compete, but at the same time these are the best years of his young life. You have to enjoy yourself during the season a bit too...

ughmmm if Kovalchuk was looking for a short term deal, maybe I can see him sign with the wings, but longer term no way... Even if the Wings could afford him, you are asking one of the most desired RUSSIAN players to play in a city like Detroit. Unless you are drafted or a good player, but not the most desired one, you might stay away from Detroit long term wise... Datsyuk was drafted and "developed" in Detroit, so don't use him as an example. The reason I say this, if you have to sign long term and you want to have a decent lifestyle as a Russian speaking player, you would probably sign in a market where you could be around some Russian culture... New York area is an obvious spot and North East in general and then maybe Chicago, LA, Miami (Florida).

Pavel's attitude and approach is all leadership... If his English was better he easly could be the next captain, but he barely speaks lol.... His responses were great, all focus on the game all focus on winning and team performance while everything else is secondary. That is leadership right there...

why da hell not? Don't come out of the crease so far out and you won't be fair game... back in a day in Soviet League players were allowed to check the goalie if he pulled what Price did, it was completely legal and acceptable. That was European leage back in the 80s and 70s and even earlier on... What does dumb ass Cherry have to say on that I wonder?

ozzie stinking up a second regular season in the row, just this year wings can't outscore the opposition in every game... 3 goals in seriously? and Wings offense put up over 40 shots? Caps had better goaltending then wings, so they won... simple as that I know Ozzie hasn't been playing much, but as my friend said when i took to the wings isles disaster last week, these guys get paid way too much money not to show up or to be tired from being on the road trip and etc... the amount of money professional players get paid should be enough to get them in super training and readiness mode to handle all these things Wings can' t afford poor goaltending in regular season this year as opposed to when they could simple outscore the other team... We miss franzen now more than ever...

Ozzie hasn't had a chance to earn his job so far... early on he wasn't exactly stellar, just alright... let's hope the wings can stop Ovechkin, should be an awesome game if wings show up...

yea I went to the devils game and at least the wings scored 3 goals there and then Rangers game i was contemplating about going watched it on tv and it was boring as hell like you said both teams were awful.. you would think sucky team like isles would be a sure thing. just awful lol

was at the game, the worst wings game I was ever at.... away building and 6 0 bleh... the only fun part about the game was that my friend told me one of his co workers was going to throw an octopus on the ice, which happened prematurely in the 2nd period instead of the 3rd since wings were sooo awful lol... can I get a refund lol? paid for expensive seats only to see an embarrassing game like that wings didn't show up to the game...

after all the whining that howard only plays crappy teams, jimmy comes in and beats bother yotes and avs... I hope this supports his case for now...

taken teams to 3 cup finals... took 2 different teams to cup finals and won a stanley cup... that pretty much sums it up lol

well that is the point, Modin plays 8 games and they add him, but don't add a guy like Sammy who is having a decent season and has all that experience. 2 cup finals and a Gold medal... odd...

well you know at least with Howard you won't have the fans whine about how great the team is and its easy to be the goalie in front of an amazing team... Wings were far from amazing this season and Howard held up pretty nicely, so let's hope for lack of future whining

actually the first statement I agree with you on probably... definitely true, he paid for it with money, career, public image and conscience. The guy was sorry and made a mistake, let's move on...

For me personally if its not wings I still watch the winter classic because it is such a cool event, but I feel like if you split the special thing between 2 teams it might take away a bit from how special it is... I am not to say Bettman sucks because I am sure they all sat in a room "brainstorming" about this brilliant idea lol... Canadian team versus American team and any original 6 teams it would be really cool....
