Same here. Saw Lidstrom's shot and when it didn't go in, the TV came off. I couldn't bear seeing the Cup raise or the handshake line.

No Hockeyfest this year. Someone asked this question on the Official Red Wings facebook page, and the administrator replied that Hockeyfest was not going to be held this year.

And they're the point of my frustration. The nickname puckbunny grates my nerves. It is a stereotype of female fans who watch hockey, and like many stereotypes, it's hard to shake because of the actions of these women. I can understand initially liking the game because they believe that the players are cute, but there seems to be too many who like the game for just that reason; and not for a reason like...enjoying the speed of the game and skill of the players. And then some (not all) are not receptive to learning more about the game. True..I suppose we have that advantage. And I never thought about it that way...guess I'm guilty of thinking that guys at the game are there for the sport. Thanks.

I really need to move further north... It seems that the LGW community appreciates the female fanbase. It's great to see.

I think there are still a large number of guys who can't fathom the idea of women genuinely enjoying the sport of hockey. If they are at the games, it's because their boyfriend/husband is interested in the game. Or they are there because they think the guys on the team are really cute. And thus female fans have the reputation of just being interested in the game for any other reason besides actual love for the sport. Most of the guys I've talked to are blown away when I tell them that I really enjoy hockey, and a few have asked me to teach them more about the game. As more people become aware that there are serious male and female fans alike, I think things will get better, but as of now, we still get the same song and dance.

^ Pretty much this. No boyfriend to speak of; not many hockey fans in the south. I know a few guys who will watch hockey, but they have nowhere near the level of obsession that I have. They're more casual fans than anything. It would be nice to have someone who understands my love for the game, and as a plus, understands my support for the Wings.

It's unfortunate that some of those very fans are now calling him a traitor for signing with Detroit. I do hope he fits in as well, and wish him the very best with the Wings. Homer just resigned for two years; he's not going anywhere. Why the hate?

There is plenty of hinting in the article that would lead us to believe that he is signing with the Wings. But I'm with you; I won't believe it until he makes an official announcement.

To answer the original question...no, absolutely not in favor of such a trade. Besides, why mess with the Euro twin magic? But seriously...just no. Getzlaf and Z have similar numbers, and Getzlaf is a top player, but I would still pick Z any day. Z is a great player, good defensively and he makes the smart, little plays that lead to something better. EZBAKE - I have to respectfully disagree. Yes, Z is injury prone but what hockey player hasn't been injured in their career? Getzlaf had injury problems this past year and we can't tell the future, so he very well may suffer injuries in the future and be considered injury-prone. Even though Z is aging, that doesn't mean he doesn't have good years ahead of him. Look at Lidstrom - had his best season with the Wings the year after the lockout, and he was over 30.

There are always free online streams, but if you aren't able to watch the games as they are occurring live, you may want to try hockeystreams.com. They charge you, but there are different options (per day,per month, 3 months, 6 months and yearly). You can watch the games live and they archive the games for a certain period of time so you can watch the game whenever you have a moment. Also included is the All Star game, NHL awards, the draft, etc.

This! This was my first ever Wings game that I attended and I will never forget it! What an epic game! I also attended the Blues game that week; another great game! Favorite non-attended games would be game 7 against the Coyotes, game 4 against the Sharks and the final game of the regular season against Chicago; loved seeing the reaction of the Hawks fans when Stuart scored the OT winner!

Any of the original 6 teams; and yes, I would want Chicago to win if it's Pens-Hawks.
