Actually, you're really on to something. They have a sizable population, at around 47 million, and have already produced some talent. I'd say with in 10-15 years, they could be on the cusp of having a res[ected Hockey program.

Haha, I hate JR, but he just put Milbury (The bigger cocksucker) in his place. "Maybe YOU could even score if you played with Backstrom. [Maybe] x10" -

I hope Milbury gets booted for that Berlin Wall comment he just made. What a Cocksucker. -

Holmstrom won't play in the Olympics - Franzen take his spot
RedFlag85 replied to a topic in General
This is too convenient to be coincidence. This was orchestrated by Kenny. Homer could have played, but mysteriously, with the Wings in the lead and the majority of the game being over, Homer's knee starts to get sore during the last game beofre the Olympics. I'm not arguing that Homer's injury is a farce. I'm sure it's real, albeit playable. So everyone's right. Homer rests, while Franzen plays to get his legs back. Win-win, and most definitely staged. -
Brandon Dubinsky calling Sidney Crosby a little baby

+1 to Dubinsky. -
I fail to see the logic in this. We all seem to be making Lilja out to be our savior on Defense. He's not a good defenseman, and the only place he shines is on the PK. Take that last sentence and replace d-man with forward, and you've got Maltby. Why trade one sub-par player whoms decent on the PKer for another?

He sounds haggard...Just the way we like him.

I lol'd. He was like if you took the insanity of Peter Stormare playing that Cosmonaut in Armageddon, and put him in the body of Ivan Drago.

Playing in the Olympics for most European players is like playing in the Stanley Cup Finals for most North American players. As devoted as our players are to the Wings, National pride takes precedence. As it should. I disagree. I always seem to enjoy the concept of using World sized ice, until about two games into the Olympics, it gets boring. On World sized ice, the game is a slower, more side to side game, whereas NHL sized ice, is a faster up and down type game. Also, you have to figure most of players from the top tier teams (Russia, Canada, US, etc) play in the NHL anyway. Why not let them play to their maximum, on the same surface they play on for 4-6 months out of the year?

Just something I thought of while reading this thread.. How about this: Holmstrom, Stuart, Meech to Chicago for Versteeg, Barker and a third round pick. Waive May. Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Cleary-Filppula-Versteeg Bertuzzi-Draper-Eaves Miller-Williams-Helm +Maltby Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Ericsson Barker-Lilja +Lebda (Ugh) Never going to happen, but I like the idea.

Which NIN song best describes the Wings right now?
RedFlag85 replied to Pavel Hossyukstrom's topic in General
If there's any song that reminds me of the Wings current situation, it's, "Skin O' My Teeth" by Megadeth. Especialy: I won't feel the hurt I'm not trash any longer That which doesn't kill me Only makes me stronger I need a ride to the morgue That's what 911 is for So, tag my toe and don't forget Ooh to close the drawer No escaping pain You belong to me Clinging on to life By the skin o' my teeth -
Before all the experts come in here to say how ridiculous this is, I think it would be a decent move. At least to stop the bleeding for a while. I've always had a soft spot for Kozlov, and I think he'd fit in pretty well being one of Pavel's trigger men. I don't know, maybe it's the thought of seeing the old #13 and the new #13 play together, but I think It would be a decent move.

He currently has 8 points in 24 games for HV71 Elitserien. He has a knee injury, and is listed as day to day.

There's more to being a GM than winning Canadian Olympic Gold. Sure, that's an achievement, but one that really isn't so hard, considering the talent pool in which Stevie Y has. Great GM's like Ken Holland have contacts, and relationships throughout the world of Hockey. Connections, that take years to develop. I think Stevie is realistically 5-7 years away from having the right tools to become a great GM. There's no doubt that Kenny is grooming Stevie for his job, if only for a lack of another heir apparent.

If you want to send a message to Pav and Hank, without changing the lineup, or doing something drastic: Take away their Assistant Captain status. Pin the A on someone like Helm, Cleary, or Stuart for awhile. They'll get the message loud and clear. 1. There are no Sacred Cows, and 2. Step it the f*** up.
-
Wouldn't this look nice: Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Selanne Cleary-Filppula-Helm Abdelkader/Maltby/Miller-Draper-Eaves Or some sort of variation. We'd be a Cup contender..
-
I've been on the fence about Eaves for a while. Today that changed. His intensity is a real asset to the team, and he's excelling in the third line winger role.
