When was the last time this team had such a turnover in its roster AND lost possibly their best goal scorer for the bulk of the season? If you follow Holland's record you realize that hes not going to do anything unless forced. So there won't be any moves made until the deadline. What will be the story or excuse when we pull and Edmonton and miss the playoffs by two points? Team defense has never been this terrible and the goaltending has never been this sparse since when Osgood first came into the league. I can see the threads now at the end of the season, making excuses for Holland not making a move. And the threads in the offseason saying that Holland resigning Maltby, Homer, Bertuzzi and Williams as "Great additions".

1. First goal wasn't a high stick. His stick blade wasn't even above the bar when he tipped it in. 2. Kronwall and Lebda were pushing the Phoenix player into Osgood. Cleary scored in similar fashion during the playoffs last year. Nothing wrong with either call. And im sure Osgood would have prefered to just make the stop instead of having his own defenseman pushing players into him.

Detroit is 10th in the Western conference, lost 150+ goals from last season and the defense actually looks worse than last year. Holland also said that hes not going to make any moves and we're relying on Jimmy Howard of all people to backup this team. Yes.. no reason to panic.

Missing the playoffs would be a wake up call for this team and would give Holland/Illitch incentive to finally cut the fat and get rid of players that should have been moved two or three years ago.

In terms of cap hit vs play on ice its obviously Rafalski. I hope that the Wings actually miss the playoffs this year so they can actually draft a PHYSICAL offensive defenseman. Enough of the Brendan Smith's. Lidstrom, Kronwall, Rafalski, Lebda, Meech. How many offensive guys do you need? Why does Brad Stuart have to be the only guy on the backend that will actually hit anyone? And yes Kronwall hits.. in open ice. Around the boards and in front of the net hes as soft as charmin. This team is really hurting without Lilja. Make a move for Volchenkov or Michalek.
